Our annual passes have already expired. Our DDE expires next month. When we go back in the fall we will purchase our annual passes when we get there. Can we purchase the DDE at that time or what do we do? TIA

Hmm well you could have renewed it before your AP expired. Now I would say the best thing is to buy your AP about a month before you go(don't activate it- you just need the code) then you can order your DDE card. I would not wait until I got to Disney- I don't think it is that easy... I know they do sometimes send a letter to guest services that you can use if you don't get your card in time, so I guess it is possible.
Have fun and don't you just love that DDE!!!!

OK.. for someone who tried to renew her DDE early after they sent me the information to do so, I have to tell you I sent their whole office into a "tizzy."

Two phonecalls to my house, and finally talked to someone. According to them they could not renew it early....the dates would be wrong. I was thinking, what the heck here? I figured they knew what they were talking about. Anyhow as a result I have now missed the date to renew at the renewal price as they never sent me a new renewal notice.

I am more than annoyed with them and will renew now at my leisure since I have to pay the full price for this renewal.

I do think it is a great offer, but think they need to figure out how to renew these cards without inconveniencing the renewers. They mailed back my check and everything, keep in mind I only renewed as they sent me the renewal forms. Yikes.

It is possible to buy the DDE at the park provided that it is a weekday. If you get a really cooperative CM, they can process a temporary in 24 hours.
However, that is a bit of a hassle and there is no promise that they will do it. It also means that it cannot happen on a Fri, Sat, or SUnday.

The above suggestion is a good one--advance order your AP, and call to order the DDE about 2 weeks before you go. The web site says it takes 2 weeks to process although the CM I spoke with said it would take 6 weeks. It actually took 16 days for my DDE to arrive in the mail (last mail before our trip), but they did say that they would send the temporary to Epcot Guest Services in case I didn't get it.

Your AP won't start until you go to Guest Services to activate it....so you could go to Epcot and accomplish both things when you arrive. Yes, with this suggestion your DDE will run out 2 weeks before your AP, but you will have the security of having it in hand. Also, I just looked at my DDE card. It expires at the end of the month in which I bought it. I know that the expiration date listed is NOT the purchase date. Maybe they allowed me until the end of the month to allow for the processing time???

Mackey Mouse, I wasn't aware of any discount for renewing a DDE membership.

When I renewed mine, I had no trouble renewing early although I did loose a month by doing so. Our old one expired 2/28 and I renewed in December in order to get the new card at the $50 rate. So our new cards expire 1/31/07. The dates work as well for us so I saved a bit this way.
