I was on the line with a reservation agent. First, I first checked for cancellations for CRT breakfast or dinner during our January trip. No luck yet, but I have not given up hope.

I have an AP voucher and plan to order a DDE card early next week after the 5th, so the expiration kicks over to 1/07. My question is how the DDE discount is applied for meals that require full upfront deposits (e.g., CRT, HDDR, etc.)?

During the call, I was also thinking of making my ADR for the HDDR for DW and me for our anniversary trip next December. When I asked about DDE availability for the late show, I was informed that participation in DDE ran through 12/18/05. Anyone know if the HDDR late show will be re-upping on the discount program for another year? I may just wait the 2.5 weeks to see what happens. Of course, I may call back and make the ADR anyway, but it would be nice to know if the discount will be available.

At the 1 month mark and counting down to the trip in January!

HDDR participation is probably ending for the holiday season, most shows will be ful without the discount. The 2006 restaurat list hasn't been released yet.

CRT will honor DDE until Feb 1. Lunch & Dinner are not prepaid before then, (maybe breakfast is, never had breakfast there) Anyway, no discount at CRT beginning Feb 1st, and all meals are will be prepaid.

How it worked for us at CRT lunch in July(and how I expect it will go in January) is that you give your DDE card to your server, the 20% is taken off and then the deposit is taken off so CRT appears to be a cheap meal. Of course, that's just because you're spreading out the payment between the initial ADR and the actual meal. Good luck with getting a cancellation. It's going to be my mom's "finished the half marathon" celebration for us on Jan 7th.

When I made HDDR reservations with the DDE card (that I had to end up cancelling most unfortunately) they just took the 20% off the amount then and billed my credit card for the discounted total.

Have only used newly purchased DDE for regular restaurants but it was great! We had a group of 6 for most recent trip and probably saved at least $75 on dinners just on that short trip...doesn't expire til Nov. 06 so we have lots more chances to "save!"

And I was wondering if you can use the DDE for the Fantasmic package? :wizard:

Officially "NO" the DDE can not be used on Fantasmic. In practice, it does not hurt to ask your server, but the official word is "No."

Definitely good advice! I have gotten the dde discount on several things like resort mugs (at POR, ASSP and SSR) and the food court at POR. My husband used the dde for all of this because he didn't know you couldn't get it on those things and they gave it to him. Sometimes just depends on the mood and the level of training and experience a particular cm has gotten.

If you make the reservation now without the discount and prepay at full price and then they extend the discount through 2006, you can just call them to have the discount added and they will credit you cc the difference. Similar to what people have done who have booked a reservation that requires prepayment/deposit and then added the dining plan later. Example: I book HDDR for March 1 and pay in full. On February 1 I add the dine plan to my res and advise them that I intend to use 2 of my table service credits for that show...they keep my cc on file as a guarantee (against no shows and cancellation within 48 hours) but they refund the cc charge. I would only see a charge on that card if I cancel within 48 hrs or no show or decide to pay out of pocket for the show and use my dining credits elsewhere. So it really can't hurt to book your res now, provided that your reservation is not contigent upon whether or not the discount is going to be offered. HTH.

Thanks, Chuck (and Amy & Dan). We usually do the package because at The Hollywood Brown Derby it's actually a very good deal. I guess we'll ask the server, but won't be disappointed if he says "no." :wizard:

Do they offer DDE for the Spirit of Aloha show? I have reservations on January 4th and I have a DDE card, but I didn't tell them that when I made the reservation, I just figured I would get a refund to my card for the 20%. Should I call Disney Dining?

From the research I've done, the late one takes DDE, but given what the CM told me when I asked about HDDR, you may want to double check...

I think the Aloha dinner show gets a discount. It will be for the latest seating. It wouldn't hurt to call Disney Dining and ask.

I just called Disney Dining, and they are clueless. I was on hold for an extended period of time and no one could answer my question. I think I might call the DDE number on Monday and see if they are any more helpful! If I can get the 20% discount on Spirit of Aloha, that would really be amazing!

Just this year year I asked about the DDE and Aloha show. I was also told the last show.
But call to make sure. Everything is subject to change at any given moment.
