Good idea.Zoom? If so, record a video of yourself nodding and paying attention. Set it as your background and it will keep looping and you can walk away.
Well, it’s what I imagine a yoga studio to be like. You go the yoga studio? Brilliant. Why haven't you been posting pictures?![]()
I should do that... but I'm just not on there enough to even join a group. It's gotten bad. I go on the Book of Face all the time, but I try to avoid most things by going to one of the groups I belong to, like Photography, Travel, Disney...you know, groups that don't allow politics in them.
Simple you get it by wishing on a twinkly one. It's kinda strange...I've looked up so many worda/terms I never thought I would. When I looked this up, it said it was the highest commissioned rank in the SS and equivalent to a 3 star general (or for you crazy squids...a vice admiral.) Then I looked up Heydrich(I think) and.it said he was a 4 star. Wait! What? If Obergruppenführer is 3 star and highest...how exactly do we get a 4 star?
Yeah, just about any day at the yoga studio.![]()
That's too bad, but...Another soccer game last night and our 3rd loss in a row. We are snake bit right now, probably had 70% pf the possession last night, couple of out right misses and two sure goals cleared off the line.
...there ya go.Otherwise a good run and the beer was cold after the game.
nuff said. Not without getting banned from the boards...
Let's say it's most clearly related to the myriad verities of intolerance.
I've had truly stunning things said to me by folks who assumed that either my appearance, or my profession, or my neighborhood, or my child's school district was an indication that I'd be in agreement with their preferences. This goes back decades and has only become more pronounced, common and frankly more brazen over time. The region where I live is adept and implementing policies, regulation and even legislation that is specifically designed to say one thing, but actually disadvantage specific types of individuals. Is this unique to here? No it's not and that amount of commonality is what's strongly troubling me.
If I travel, I have to take my gear with me and be reachable.
I could refuse, but the laws here state that one can can have their employment terminated at any time and for any reason (or for no reason at all), so picking a fight with your employer is hazardous in nearly all respects.
I do say that I'll be in places where the time it will take me to respond might be prohibitive and/or force me to access the system via public networks and that fairly well calms them down. that said, I've actually been called while I was on vacation an numerous occasions, including during trips to Disney (and no, I don't get comp days added on for such things either).
Too true!I read a novel a while back that had a great line in it: "When they need you, they talk about things like loyalty, honor and duty. When you need them, they talk about budgets."
Not me. Kinda hard for your team to advance when all their best players are gone.I have to admit, I've really loved the whole August Madness hockey tournament.
Me too. I look at some of my friends in stunned disbelief, like "I thought you were a normal and clear-headed, rational person. What happened?"
Sound reasoning. To their credit, my bosses have conceded the point when I have said that if I'm so important that I can't disappear for 2 weeks without everything falling apart, then I clearly need to be paid a lot more.
<sigh> Ain't that the truth.Problem is that 400 scientists say this and 400 scientists say the opposite, so Herbie goes with the scientist the talking media heads recommend or the ones that fit the political narrative. So many have lost the ability to critically think.
Herbie would pick the one that popular opinion picks. Right or wrong. It's popular in America to think FDR got America out of the Depression. Bernanke indicated that FDR took the wrong actions, leaving us in the Depression longer, which was why he took different actions during the Recession. This time economic scientist disagree. Which one should Herbie pick?
She's an excellent actress! She said I was handsome!
Nicely put.I read a novel a while back that had a great line in it: "When they need you, they talk about things like loyalty, honor and duty. When you need them, they talk about budgets."
"Let me tell you something my friend. Hope is a dangerous thing..."Hang in there. Hopefully better days are ahead.
Key Word “was”?
I'd like to state for the record, my earlier comments were in general. I've just had too many bosses who talk about/want/expect employee loyalty, but do NOTHING to earn it. In my mind, it's like respect...must be earned.Afternoon Dads and a very happy Friday Eve. A bit more serious conversation around here today. Did the CBO approve of such? Good conversing and can’t say I disagree except that I can tell ya I care a bunch for the roughly 120 or so folks I am responsible for. I however, without my ego talking, I am becoming the the exception these days In terms of giving a hoot about folks. Stay safe, hang in their, have hope and do what ya can to make it a better one.
Key Word “was”?
Hummm, good question...Did the CBO approve of such?
God on ya', sir.can’t say I disagree except that I can tell ya I care a bunch for the roughly 120 or so folks I am responsible for.
If thats what we are calling Birthday and Anniversaries, then sure....
My thoughts as well.
But my thoughts weren't allowed to be part of the calculus.
All of this is true. I got on FB several years ago in order to keep in touch with friends and family, see what was going on in their lives. And also to re-connect with old friends with whom I'd lost touch. I feel like it no longer serves that purpose. Instead of keeping up with friends, all I see are political rants, memes, advertisements, and misinformation.
I hadn't heard that term in a while. I didn't go there, but interesting.
Good idea.
But my company only uses Skype or Teams, fortunately almost exclusively audio only so I can be on mute and do whatever I want.
Well, it’s what I imagine a yoga studio to be like.
If I tried going, I don’t think they would appreciate my Dad bod in yoga gear, nor the aforementioned moose knuckle...
I should do that... but I'm just not on there enough to even join a group.

She lied.
Sorry CCT, but you are most definitely NOT using the word correctly. Not at all close to Karma. Closest I can think of is sadist (Hope I don't get in trouble with the mods for that word) or maybe psycho or sick or all of those rolled into one.So...schadenfruede, or, in everyone else's world: Karma

Sorry to hear that. I grew up where teachers, law enforcement, and anyone who did an honest day's work was respected...where you could leave your doors unlocked and the key in the car...where kids were free to roam the neighborhood until the street light came on...where not everyone was awarded a trophy and people failed and learned from their mistakes...where families looked out for each other...where each person was accountable for their own actions and it wasn't societies fault if someone was a criminal...where people were hired for their abilities...where people actually believed that their were absolutesSee, that's the thing...
This -is- the world that I grew up in, and little has actually changed since I was a child. The only real difference between now and then is that folks now say out loud (and with pride) things they used to say with but a wink and a nod (or when they were pretty sure the "group" or "club" they were hanging with at the time was in agreement).
Actually I think it was me. Schadenfreude "Happiness at the misfortune of others". I haven't seen Avenue Q but am familiar with much of the music though I disagree with their idea of what the internet is for. It is well known that the internet is for cat videos....I probably started the serious talk...sorry. I'll do better next time.

What say ye' Chief?![]()
Morning, Gents! For those of us who keep to the traditional work schedule, we finally made it to Friday! Wwwweeeeee! Things at work have been going pretty smoothly. Still slow right now as the last paralegal got things caught up for several weeks out, so I'm left with the task of a back log of filing, which is keeping me busy. Outside that? Not much. I haven't said anything about this, but I'm taking a test tomorrow for that medical coding thing I've been studying for. Well, I'm supposed to have been studying for it. Honestly I've lost the drive to study, so I'm not expecting to pass this test, however, I did manage to get an extension of a year on the second test...so plenty of time to study after. The test runs about 6 hours and I have about an hours drive to get there, and I also have a photo gig tomorrow, so I've got a full day tomorrow. I'm hoping to get a part-time job in the medical field doing the medical coding thing, so we'll see. Well, gents, have a good day and we'll chat on the other side.
She lied.

and where I didn't have to fill out a pointless health screen daily that asks me 1) am I sick? 2) within the last two weeks have I been within 6 feet of anyone that has COVID-19?![]()
Because, unlike coffee...it's good and we drank it all.
We are, but honestly.....That's harsh, I thought we were friends?![]()
Would you prefer I said I thought you were handsome? Hmmm?
Well, it’s what I imagine a yoga studio to be like.

I've found that the folks in the middle, can cut either direction.
The problems seem to arise more so (with exceptions granted from time to time) once someone attains a position that includes the word "Executive" as part of their title (oh, and most of the folks that have "studied" - and apparently "adapted" - Friedman's work)
That word is used in one of my favorite musicals, "Avenue Q," so I hear it all the time. And I know that I'm not using the word properly, but it fits what I'm feeling. For instance, a friend of mine use to run the print shop for the local healthcare group, which owns everything healthcare related down here. He had been working for them for over 35 years when they laid him off because they thought it would be better, and cheaper to go with an outside company to do the job. Well, the only company that could do it wound up costing more in the long run, and his old boss admitted it to him one day. So...schadenfruede, or, in everyone else's world - karma

THIS!!!
All of those are fantastic points I miss, but probably the one I miss the most is people accountable for their own actions vs. Wanting to blame everyone else for whatever.
My Friday was yesterday. Today is Saturday 1, tomorrow is Saturday 2.For those of us who keep to the traditional work schedule, we finally made it to Friday!
Ah! Thought you'd maybe dropped that. Good luck, although you say you haven't studied.I haven't said anything about this, but I'm taking a test tomorrow for that medical coding thing I've been studying for.
Long day!The test runs about 6 hours and I have about an hours drive to get there, and I also have a photo gig tomorrow, so I've got a full day tomorrow.
What he said. You've mentioned the photography hobby before, do you have somewhere that you share your photos?
Troll!!!!!Sometimes I just like to poke the hornets nest and run.![]()
Good luck. Hope you make the decision that works best for you.Morning all. Going in shortly for my job future meeting.
