DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
OK boys. That's it. I'm calling it. Work week over. Everyone out. Last one in the Rose and Crown for a cheeky Innis & Gunn doesn't get the opportunity to take Jasmine home. And let me tell ya, if she asks if you want to see her Cave of Wonder, say YES.

I've been to that Cave of Wonder - and it the accent of the French knight in Python's Holy Grail - it's very nice!!! :lmao:

OK, but just be warned if she asks you to find her diamond in the rough.

Yeah, I've found that genie in the bottle.

I am waiting a bit today. Picking up the kid later this afternoon at school. As a reward, I get to buy her a drink at the bar they have there. Not sure what kind of stock they have but she will get one of their better beers while I have my customary Bid Light. Sorry but that is how I roll.

You drink water? C'mon Man!!! Order a beer with some flavor.

So gents, anyone else see the live stream of Happily Ever After? (Besides Darcy, I saw him kicking around FB already).

I was impressed with the projections. The music was fine. The fireworks seemed OK, although they cut to focus on the castle projections a lot, so we may have missed some of the fireworks. Overall, it was a decent show. It just lacked any kind of emotional attachment like Wishes, and I miss the story aspect of Wishes. Happily Ever After is just a "best of Disney" clip show. Not a bad show, just doesn't bring a tear to the eye. Maybe over time it will...

SPOILER ALERT RANDALL
I saw it this morning Jeff. I don't think you get the emotional thing unless your standing there. I never thought Wishes came across particularly well on you tube, and then you stand in front of it with the littl'uns and thats the emotion that's stirring up when you look at it. I think I'll still prefer Dreams in Paris (which I thought was better than Wishes). I agree, there wasn't much narrative or link, and some of the characters on there were forced (Lighting especially). I also think there is a bit of the fact that this lineup are not our characters, they are our kids ones.

All the on-field interpreted rules of the NFL and different punishment levels favoring certain teams have made that an uncompetitive league, and it feels more like watching WWE sometimes.
For me it's more the lack of any consequence. In the PL/EFL if you have a stinker of a season, you're out, and you have to earn your way back in. If you have a shocker in the NFL, you get the pick of the best young players.....

I would imagine any beer you get to drink with your kids is good beer. I know I'm looking forward to it and the boy is only 6 mate. Have a good one with the PP

As long as it's a Bud, enjoy the beverage with the PP - my DD seems to be partial to a lemon drop martini or a one of the hard lemonade things.

She likes good beer, I can't stand the taste. When we were in the UK and Germany, She fell in love with all sorts of the beers they produced. My friend's BIL owns a microbrewery and we went to a pub that serves his beer. I really tried but nope, wouldn't happen. I do like good spirits and wine though.

Had a nice time yesterday with the Pirate Princess. The place was crowded because this is graduation weekend so we only stayed for one drink. Beautiful space, right on the Bay. Was going to post some pics but Photobucket is acting up.

They are total beer snobs, not a Bud, Coors or even Sam Adams to be found. They have about 20-30 beers either on tap or by the bottle. All craft breweries. She had the Floridian, a hefeweizen from the Funky Buddha brewery (real name). I ended up with a glass of cheap wine and it was just OK.

Good morning all. Left work early and had family fun tennis night. We get an indoor court and I run thru some fun, fast drills with all the family. Youngest still takes it too serious, but it's fun. I'm scheduled to play at 9 and 11:30 today. It is a beautiful day.

I liked Wishes, but Hallo-Wishes is/ was a better show. I also liked the new Star Wars Fireworks at DHS.

So the Navi get syphillis off John Smith?

Well, they are on a boat for a long time. Someone's got to do it. :scared1: :lmao:

For me, it's about skill and flow of the game. In NFL and college basketball, just as the game is ending and the excitement is there - tv timeout, official challenge on the field, or free throws. I want to see an exciting finish, not standing around for 2-3 minutes.

Watched Dreams on YouTube this morning. Looked good on a smart phone screen but will reserve judgement until we see it person on the 22nd. I thought it interesting that some of the fireworks looked like the anti aircraft artillery the Iraqis we're spraying over Baghdad the first night of the first gulf war. Also that they held Tinkerbell until the end for a bit of suspense. Maybe now the husband of the DWs hair dresser can get some home time. He heads up the pyro team for the show. Apparently, the 'creative' director for that part of the show has trouble with the idea of 'stage left or right'. Kept getting it wrong.

Yeah I've seen Dreams in Paris on YouTube, which probably doesn't do it justice, but it was impressive, and a little similar to Happily Ever After, except for the fountains and fire.

I also think there is a bit of the fact that this lineup are not our characters, they are our kids ones.
Good point. Mostly new characters in HEA.

That sounds like fun, and good family bonding.

Agreed, Hallo-Wishes is fantastic. I guess they will go back to Hallo-Wishes on the party nights in the fall? I have not yet seen the Star wars fireworks, except for YouTube of course.

It's hard to really appreciate any of the shows on YouTube with small screens. I have a feeling that in the case of Happily Ever After, it would be more impressive in person.

Afternoon boys from sunny London. Sitting on the train taking the boy to West Ham v Liverpool.
Have a good day all.

Morning Guys.

Happy Mother's Day to all the DWs. We celebrated yesterday as DS has a bball practice this afternoon and it is about 45 minutes from home. I get to play chauffeur again.

Have a good one!

A quick Happy Mother's Day to the DWs and Moms out there! I think DW is struggling a bit with thought S of DD not being here for this day the next few years. Other than that the bridal shower last night was great for the girls other than some BS with other side not showing up :headache: not his mom, she was there and her and her husband are good people but his dad and that clan is about on my last nerve with some of the stuff they are putting the two kids through.

Both sound like great family time :thumbsup2

Not really mate, we lost 4-0.

(not really, I love taking him whatever the score, there may have been small onions in my pockets he stood on his chair and sang our theme song at full blast)

Hope the BS with the future in laws passes. Not long now buddy.

I guess everybody is off enjoying Mother's day with their family. Hope everyone is having a good day.

It's too bad that something that should be a happy time often seems to come with so much stress. I hope it gets better.

Evening folks. Put in 8 hours at the church today. Still enjoying the work, but missing all that time off. I have to drive to campus again next week, and hopefully it will be the last one for May. We spent Mother's Day together yesterday. Oldest dd's boyfriend is moving to South Carolina next week after school. Life just seems to be moving along.

.

Yes, for the MNSSHP nights. The DHS fireworks are enhanced by the Star Wars music and quotes from the various characters. I wish they would pipe it into Boardwalk like they do over at CR & BLT, but you can barely hear it if you try. It's a short walk over to the front of DHS though.

Sorry to hear about the drama. What's the story? There is crazy in every family, and if you don't have it, then it's you! :lmao: You know the outlaw crap that I have to go through here.

Sorry to hear your team loss. I knew who to cheer for this time. :lmao:

I met a guy playing tennis who was originally from England. I asked if he was a West Ham fan, but he said he was from Darby. He's a lot younger than I, and came over on a soccer/ football scholarship. I'll give him a run next week, but I know he is way more athletic than I am.

Morning guys, hope all the wives had an enjoyable Mother's Day. Spent the afternoon at Marlins' Park watching them beat the Braves 3-1. A close friend (we've known each other in high school) was in town and he loves baseball. Spent an enjoyable three hours catching up. The kid was out on the water tagging sharks. They had a good day and tagged 10. She is out there again this morning.

Avoiding any of the talk/pictures/videos of both HEA and Pandora. I'll see them in January.

At least you are headed to the final stretch. Shame some people on the periphery of the celebration think it is all about them. Try not to smack him during the reception.

Oldest dd's boyfriend is moving to South Carolina next week after school. Life just seems to be moving along.

I imagine you are happy about that.
