DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
You can't add until you have used up all 3 FP+ right? We still use RD strategy to get in a lot and then will group FP+ for later in afternoon / evening especially if we are taking a midday break.

Yes. I plan to get one standby at RD on 30 minute wait, and then schedule FPs for remaining AM & early afternoon. Then, once your standing in line at the 3rd, then add the 4th on your phone and keep on adding until they are gone. It means more walking unless you restrict FP to nearby attractions. It may not work at the busiest times of year, but works with crowd levels of 7.

Sorry about the result for DD, hopefully not discouraged by the result.

She was a bit discouraged last night, but hopefully the effects don't linger. She is really competitive like me, and doesn't take losing well.

Didn't Vince Lombardi have something to say about that?
And, I like to try new restaurants. So, if I can't get a favorite, it gives me a reason to try something new.
This.
I liked the paper FP system better because it was easier to make sure I got multiple rides on my favorites
This only works if there are a plethora (yes Jefe, a plethora) of rides with FP. In Paris we still have the paper system and the queue for FP is almost as long as the ride. Plus you can only get one on our AP until the hour of your existing FP. The flip side is, if you're on a FP, you never queue.

Well, dd lost another close one in a 3rd set tiebreaker 3-6, 6-4, 9-11. She said she was tired. I thought she looked nervous. Sadly, she was the only one on the HS team that lost the first round match, but she did draw against a really good player. They only seed for the top 6, and then draw names out of a hat for the rest of the pairing. Hopefully she will have several more years.
Tough loss, but I expect I would be tired after a long tie breaker like that. Hopefully she can be proud of putting up a fight and being a good competitor.

I kind of went through the same thing with oldest DD, not in sports, but she's done some competitive singing. She's always done well, but has a lot of 2nd and 3rd place, never got to the top. She gets very down on herself after.

I hear ya, expensive enough for tix or AP I don't want to pay even more per day. Maybe they could keep the program as is and add another tier to pay for being able to get 6 FP with removal of the stupid attraction tiers like EPCOT has.
Interesting suggestion of a paying FP system. The peasants would probably storm the castle at the thought of it, but an interesting compromise between free and pay for all systems.

It's better now that they added the function to get FP on your phone. Last time I was there you could only add by going to a kiosk. I think we only got a 4th twice and then just didn't bother hunting around for a kiosk the other times.

This only works if there are a plethora (yes Jefe, a plethora)
I could never find the plethora.

That's pretty much what I think about it...
The day that is...

Oh! 'morning all...
May you be feeling considerably less crappy that I this fine day.

Now I think I'll try to get back to what Homer was doin... errr I mean... the important work of the day.

Morning Guys.

Wet, rainy one up here today. It's a busy one with a couple of meetings, a presentation and a soccer game if I get back from the presentation in time. But if it is still raining, the drive home may be a bit slower and it will be too late for soccer.

Have a good one.

Sounds like it was a pretty even match. Sorry to hear about the loss but I'm sure she'll bounce back from it quickly.

Great pics!

Typical spring around here, 2008 was the last real big one. Here is link to pictures of the area right now http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-brunswick/view-of-the-flood-1.4103798

In 2008, the river crested in the City just short of 9 meters (little shy of 28 feet). The main crossing point looked like this:
Wow that's a lot of water. hope everyone is safe.
on the bright side looks like a good excuse to buy a boat.

Have you seen Pocahontas or Dances With Wolves? If so, you've seen Avatar.
and Fern Gully

Prayers.
Congrats.
Pixie dust.

And not going back to see who gets what.
Sort it out for yourselves! We're all adults here.

Some of us are...

A couple....

Yeah.... Nevermind.
Welcome back.

no worries we are all dads here and understand. Big day for her and you.

Happy Wednesday. I get to play tennis tonight, and looking forward to it. Now that regionals are over, I can have more time to play. But, I did agree to work with my daughter and a few of her teammates over the summer. :headache:

And, she is over the loss. She already asked to play in a tournament at the end of the month.

It worked well at WDW because there many rides in the system. And, it rewarded one for the effort. And, before they made those time frames mandatory, I would stock up on paper fp and hold them until the late afternoon or evening, and then use them all.

Share all those pictures, proud dad.

Yes, they don't see 2nd or 3rd for what it is worth. In my daughter's situation, she made regionals as a 7th grader. She beat out close to 10 other girls in High School to just make the regional team, and almost won. To contrast it, her doubles partner is a junior this year, and this was the first time she won a match at regionals.

Now I think I'll try to get back to what Homer was doin... errr I mean... the important work of the day.

Homer has the right idea.

Afternoon boys. Its the back half of the week.

Only in your future world, time traveler man. :lmao:

Was worried about having another close loss. Glad she has the bit in her teeth and wants to play more.

Too many pictures of our kids? Never. Congratulations to her, well done all around.

Top O the Mornin Dads! DD & DW have last planning / details meeting with the wedding venue today - includes giving them the check I wrote out last night for final payment :crazy2:. Work is a real PITA these days but all is good on the family side which is what matters anyway. Thank goodness for Dan who puts us ahead in the day.

Hope the flooding has backed down. With all the rain and flooding, how are you getting soccer games played?

Glad DD has rebounded and working with her and her teammates over the summer is a good thing - enjoy that time.

Sorry about the cheque thing. ;)

The river is still at flood level but the city itself is ok. There are people who live along the river below the city who aren't having a good time right now. As for the soccer, all our games are played on turf fields so the only thing that stops us is lightning.

Top O the Mornin Dads and happy Friday Eve! Where'd everyone go? One should not be the last post of a day and the first post the next morning........... Have a good one.
