DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Looks like the tournament challenge is over. I has hoping to get at least 50% since I put more thought into it than usual but that didn't happen. Just shows I am better off not thinking.

Hi guys, first chance to use my phone since starting to drive on Friday. Took about 15 hours to get here, managed that fine. Was even able to hook up with a fellow DISDad form Facebook in Daytona on the way. Did Epcot yesterday tick to tick, drink some beer ate some food and ride Frozen. Today is Epcot I the morning and MK the rest of the day. This have been a test trip to see if we (me) could handle the long drive and if Jodi could work on the way. Text so far has been a success. Oh, was able to meet up with two Facebook Dads yesterday too. Rob if you can meetup with us, send me a PM. Now off to get ready for breakfast at Kona.

You are a better man than I am, but we already knew that. 15 hours in the car and they would have to carry me out. Take a spin on the TTA for me.

Looks like I might be doing 15 hours in the car today(no not really).
Drove to church.
After church, back home to get my dog.
Drive to my mom's house to drip her off
Drive back to Disney(maybe) for a dis meet or 2
Drive back past my mom's to Lakeland for air show
Drive home.

The only part that's up on the air is back to Disney. My mom may want/expect me to take her to lunch which will cut into time

Top O the Mornin Dads! Looks like a good weekend for most, except the guys with the snow thing going on - what’s up with that. Thunderstorms here today so some video games and Marvel or Disney movies for my day. Only 2.5 work week for me then off to Chicago for SW Convention. Have a good Sunday gents.
Part of the setup for this weekend's tournament.

Looks like a good event
Morning Gents.

Few flurries to start the day but suppose to change to rain shortly, lovely day.

First match isn't until 5:30 so I have time to get through the chores list. I think that cast DW has is just an excuse. ;)

There are another 4 courts set up on a second pad as well as 4 more courts at two schools. Add all the JV, Varsity boys and girls teams up and you get about 100 teams playing over 3 days.
Make sure the Mrs doesn’t milk thatbroken arm thing
Morning everyone from an overcast Westfield NB. Spent a couple of hours last evening replacing the rear brakes on my car, my reward saved some cash and some vitamin R for me. :drinking1:drinking1

We are going to go see Dumbo this afternoon, then out to dinner. Enjoy the weekend.

It's tax time here too, hoping to finish them on Sunday. Enjoy the brew time.

Hoping you get your days off, that's a lot of shifts.

Nice :thumbsup2
Sounds like a good weekend being had.
I made it thru a page, but in classic DisDad effort, that's all I got.

It was my first time on a cruise and I learned a lot.

(1) The drink package is for real. You break even around 5-9 drinks, depending upon if your ordering a 3 shot rum punch or beer. If you max out at 15, you win and lose at the same time. If you travel with your DW who also was required to have the drink package, couldn't drink all hers, and was willing to bring you some extra, then there is additional joy & pain. I was able to successfully locate and drink at every bar on the boat.

(2) Carnival Cruise was Panama City Beach. And, if you've never been to PCB, then you have missed people toweling up entire rows of beach/ poolside chairs at 6 AM for a day of excessive drinking & cigarette smoking. I tried to avoid the entire "promenade" deck because of the non-stop chain smoking. By the end of the trip, some of my clothes smelled of smoke by the occasional passing thru.

(3) Never go on a cruise when your entire state's school system is on Spring Break. At every show where the audience says where they are from, the answer was KY. Then, when you encounter herds of ill behaved children and parents, you feel the shame. When the cruise employees roll their eyes when someone mentions KY or you overhear them saying "this is a rough group" this week, you know it's bad.

(4) Don't stay in the lower decks with the rats. Balcony only. Open the door for some fresh air.

(5) Make sure you save your bigger pants for the end of your trip. All you can eat means exactly that. I killed buffets, pizza, deli sandwiches, ice cream, desserts, breads, and still made my scheduled dining.

(6) Pay the extra $ for an excursion and wifi. I skipped the wifi, and wish I had done it. We went to Chichen Itza and it was amazing. The 2nd day at Cozumel, we did some quick shopping in Mexico and then went on board the boat to enjoy the pools & water slides with no one else there.

(7) Stop driving on vacation. Made it 130 miles on I-65 in 3 hours with start/stop traffic. Fly.

I see a Captain everytime I look in the mirror. Savvy!

I drove awhile. DW is now. Proof?

Agree. I wanted the BGE, but not at that price.

You were there? I must have missed you.

Well, they are a billion $ corporation. While they will undoubtedly raise their prices, I won't be able to accept full responsibility.
Welcome back Norm. Hard to tell, did you enjoy your cruise or just ok?
With Jodi.

Sounds and looks like it has worked out for yas. The Bloody Mary flight you had this morning looks good - at Kona right?

Gentlemen, I hope your Sunday morning is less white than mine.

Sheila’s flippin’ Brush.

It does make the trees look pretty though...
Morning guys. Sunny but cool here this morning but guess what....special weather warning for tomorrow....20 cm of snow forecast. Bloody Hell!
Oh heck no! Ben Canadians should not have to deal with that this time of year - be safe

Mine should be less white. In central FL, if it's that white, it means a visit from scar face. ;)

Say hello to my little friend!

Hang on... air show?

Made it thru work this morning. It was rough.

Interesting (and in some cases, funny) observations.
. :rolleyes1

Here's another one. Found an internet article that named vertigo as "land sickness" which describes what some first time cruisers experience when they return to land. I swear the house is rocking like the boat. Usually, I only have this experience when drunk, and it's way less fun right now.

With Jodi.

That is a long drive. I'm trying to figure out if I want to drive 2 hours to the airport to fly 1.5 hours to Destin and spend $1K to save myself a 7 hour car ride.

You are a better man than I am, but we already knew that. 15 hours in the car and they would have to carry me out. Take a spin on the TTA for me.

This. ::yes::

Welcome back Norm. Hard to tell, did you enjoy your cruise or just ok?
e

That answer is a yes and no. So, I enjoyed the food and alcohol, but the quantity I consumed was not healthy. I enjoyed the boat ride on the ocean, but am not enjoying the vertigo right now. My favorite part was the visit to Chichen Itza, which we didn't even plan to do originally and only booked the day before on the boat. I didn't like how far away it was from and how fast we pushed thru it.

I did not enjoy the size or location of the room or the extreme rudeness of my fellow KY spring breakers. Still, I would try a future cruise with another cruise line with better dates.

They had boxes of Cuban cigars for sell in Cozumel. One was marked $1000. I didn't buy it. Have you had a Cuban cigar since the embargo lifted? What's the going rate? Is it a good cigar?

Replying to my own post.
Didn't end up driving back.
Heading to MK now to meet Randall and Jodi

Not three in a row.
Let's see...
March 27 ( had a day off on the 26th) worked the day shift
28th - evening shift
29th and 30th were day shifts
31 was midnight shift
1st was day shift
2nd was 16 hour day/evening shift
3rd was day shift
4th was 16 hour day/evening shift
5th was evening shift
6th (today) 16 hour day/evening shift
7th day shift
8th midnight shift
9th day shift
Have 10 & 11 off, but good chance I'll be working one of those.
Then back to a (maybe) more normal cycle with only 1 day of overtime thrown in.

Oh... and no. I have my car, so no need for a taxi.

OK I got to ask what do you do that requires such crazy hours:confused3

This is witchcraft, it is 68 in my area today. I'm sure most of the guys here do not want to hear this trickery for another 7 months, we will give you a pas this time and wlll never talk of it again:rotfl2::thumbsup2

I had a friend who worked with the merchant marine and was at sea for 6 months at a stretch without coming ashore. When he did, he got sea sick (or your "land sickness").

I thought you said say hello to my little friend had a different meaning for you :lmao:

yep yep Sun and Fun at Lakeland every year

Nice. I haven't been to an airshow in years... and I really like them.

I do know of this I have had it at least 3 times in the last 32yrs, ended up in ER once on 22 Bday.

OK I got to ask what do you do that requires such crazy hours:confused3

I'm not an Air Traffic Controller, but I work closely with them. My job is making sure the data they get is error free. I also take and input flight plans and do initial search and rescue on overdue aircraft. I have several other duties, but that's the gist of it. It's a 24/7/365 job. Planes never stop flying.

Morning boys from a misty and drizzly London.

Hoping this is the last you see of Sheila's brush.
But not her bush.

or tossing a pigskin.... :rolleyes1
Or throwing a rock...…...

Yeah, I'm done as well. I hit 91%, but I think I'm now locked in at 2nd, as I didn't have Virginia or Texas Tech in the final.
Thunderstorms here today so some video games and Marvel or Disney movies for my day. Only 2.5 work week for me then off to Chicago for SW Convention.
Enjoy on both counts mate.
Have you had a Cuban cigar since the embargo lifted? What's the going rate? Is it a good cigar?
We never had the embargo ,so have been free to enjoy Cuba's finest for many years. It obviously depends on what the Cigar is, but you can get a pretty good Sunday smoke for about $12 a stick.
I swear the house is rocking like the boat.
I would not enjoy that.
I'm sure most of the guys here do not want to hear this trickery for another 7 months, we will give you a pas this time and wlll never talk of it again:rotfl2::thumbsup2
:rotfl:Careful there mate, posts like that will end you up in the penalty box....

Kinda puts my LEGO playing into perspective...…..

Have a great day chaps.
London out.

Morning everyone from a overcast Westfield NB. Sheila is not done with us
Forecast is 8 inches of snow today.
Happy Monday.

Yikes. Happy Monday indeed.
We've got flurries and freezing cold wind here today but no accumulation thankfully. At least not yet. I'm just hoping it warms up later in the week.

Morning boys from a misty and drizzly London.

Same here. 1C/34F here and rain showers.

Or throwing a rock...…...

Which apparently one should not do if one lives in a glass house.
I can think of a lot of things one shouldn't do if one lives in a glass house.
And who the heck lives in a glass house anyway?

Forecast is 8 inches of snow today.

Sheila's giving 8 inches? Isn't that backwards this time of year?
