Just got a personalized letter from Giancarlo Stanton. If you didn't hear, he signed a big time, long term contract with the Marlins.

He thanked me for my past support blah, blah and hoped I will support them next season. May have to think about this. My biggest complaint was Loria would just dump major talent just to save money. A lot will depend on their next few steps but I may have to rethink my "not giving them any money" position.

May get fooled again but maybe this time Lucy will let Charlie Brown kick the ball.

Remember all the money they spent on free agents before the last fire sale??? :rolleyes1

I could care less about the Marlins one way or another, but I really do hope this is a sign of a culture change. If not, I'm glad to see that Stanton at least was smart enough to get a no-trade and opt out clause. I'm not sure he's shown me enough to warrant the biggest contract in the MLB, but to stay with that organization, I can't fault him a bit for seeking that much money and more control of his future.

Work week done". Need to go into the office tomorrow and put the computer back on th network. That's my plans.

Welcome to the group!
I'll give your wife a pass on the Bakery. Ever since they turned it into a Starbucks, it's been dead to me.

Balderdash! The Main Street Bakery is just as cool. And, I've bought my Starbucks from there as well.

Why is "member" in quotes? Did he "violate" a group "bylaw" and you had him "killed?" :confused3

That is a lot of quotes there. Everything ok? Cold gotten to your cheese?

.

That wasn't a big contract. That was a SUPER SUPER SUPER big contract. I'd be happy to play for Miami for a 10th of that. :lmao:

I could care less about the Marlins one way or another, .

Me neither. But, it would be great sitting in Miami on a warm day watching a MLB game.

DS has his first basketball game on Saturday. It was pretty close, but we just couldn't get any shots to fall, whereas it seemed like everything the other team tossed up went in.

I've had those type of games. No, our team is losing by double digits each game. Of the 7 players, only three can play. So, it's always three on five.

Just got back from WDW, and decided I needed to join this group (if I may allowed to do so).

Realized I had no business getting upset with my wife (non Disney person), when she did not meet me in front of the Bakery, because she assumed I would know that she really meant the Confectionery. Not the BAKERY.

It was a quite ride home when she saw the eye roll.

Welcome. Dues are payable in dole whips, bacon, beer, or cake. You mail enough for 780 to me, and then I will mail to all the guys. Trust me. :crazy2:

I'm still working on my TR and it's not going nearly as fast as I'd hoped. I can't get to my photos from work so I'm not getting as much done during my lunch hour as I was hoping. I guess I have to devote my personal time to it *jeesh*

And those pictures are really small.

Thanks!

I've been visiting the Mouse since my parents first brought me at 6 months old. Went every year until I was a Freshman in HS, then skipped a few years here and there. I think my total visit count is in the 30s.....at 39 years old.

My wife did not get the Disney love, until I took her there on our first trip as a dating couple. It was during F&W. She was hooked, although still can't find the Bakery.....

I'm an avid model railroader and belong to this group: http://www.modutrak.com/

I also play the drums and manage a three piece "rock" band locally.

Epcot is still my favorite park, as I went three weeks after opening in 82, as an eight year old. It was awe inspiring....

DW and I went honeymooned at WDW, the first time for her and only the second time for me. We took our children back for first visit four years later, and have been going annually or more ever since. We own BWV DVC, which puts Epcot right there for us. You seem to be using a lot of "quotes" as well. What type of "rock" band?

As Randall said, you fit in well.

Just checked out the website as well... looks really cool.

I was just saying to DW this weekend that model train's is a really cool hobby to get into. I was extremely impressed with Mandy Patinkin's model railway that he featured 60 minutes this weekend. Did you happen to catch that?

I'm pretty sure she will move the ball again.

They spent about a week working out the deal. He is protected with an opt out if Loria pulls a Lucy and doesn't field a competitive team. i was OK with most of the fire sale last time except they got rid of Ramirez and got nothing in return. Can you imagine a lineup that included Cabrera, Ramirez and Stanton? Could have happened.

HUGE contract. I have to see what else they do. If they ever name me as manager, I'll give you a tryout. Would you settle for the league minimum? In the meantime if you come down here, I'll take in a game with you.

I'm pretty sure she will move the ball again.

That is what I am worried about. They already fooled me three times and I am a bit gun-shy.

I don't know. I'm pretty sure Andy plays either basketball or softball in a church league, and they play pretty dirty.

::yes:: Both. And the Frozen Monkey speaks the truth. Our pastor is the dirtiest player of all. Some people won't play basketball when he's on the floor. I just choose to step up my cheap shot game accordingly. :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Have you shown your pastor the lighted ummmmm... 'candle' pic on Facebook yet? Tell him if it doesn't watch out, you'll hit him there and he won't be singing Fa la la la la, la la la la

What's your go-to cheap shot move?

My arms are too long to use the discrete elbow or anything like that. I've got a good 6" and 50 pounds on him, so I just use the "oops, didn't see you there, sorry" technique or if you want to put a simpler name on it, we'll call it the bulldozer.

He calls it "exorcism." It's when he turns his eyes red, starts spitting blood, speaking in tongue, drawing pentagrams on the floor, then pantsing the opposing player while throwing a bucket of confetti on him. He picked up in a Satan vs. The Harlem Globetrotters basketball game back in '89.

Now THESE are quality posts men! This is what drew me to the DISDad forum, but it's def what keeps me coming back for more. Where else can you find a place that endorses carnivorous appetites, adores Canadians, offers up prayers for those in need all the while encouraging abuse of men of the cloth?

I love this corner of the world. :cool1:

Is there any other way to play basketball in Indiana????

Morning guys

We're not a club, we're a "group." So we have "members" not members.

If that makes sense. :p

Well, at least you've figured it out - that means you're one step ahead of us. We're still trying to figure it out. The best we can figure, we're more of an asylum.

Just checked out the website as well... looks really cool.

You guys get 60 minutes up there? If figured with the exchange rate you'd only get 57 1/2 minutes or something like that. :confused3

I saw a graphic showing the highest salaries in all 4 major pro sports. The top contracts in Football, Basketball and Hockey wouldn't even crack the top 30 in Major League Baseball. Much higher pay for much lower risk or serious injury? Yup - encouraging my son to follow his baseball dreams is now not only a viable retirement plan for me, it's also good parenting! :thumbsup2

Is there any other way to play basketball in Indiana????
I thought all basketball in Indiana was played in a corn field with bushel baskets nailed to telephone poles? :confused3

This reminds me of when my brother and I would take turns pulling each other on a sled tied behind a snowmobile. Take a fast turn and the sled goes whipping around to the side.

Oh, don't worry - we wore helmets..... when mom was watching. ;)

‘Morning all…

Just got back from WDW, and decided I needed to join this group (if I may allowed to do so).

I was going to tell ya’ to pull up a lawn chair and just kick some of the beer cans and pizza boxes out of the way. But I see that you’ve already settled into the club house nicely and even started a bon fire with some of the old furnishings. It’s like you’ve been a member all along.

I will not sing that song.....my kids made me ride four times in two days!

Yep… you’ve found a proper home here.

May get fooled again but maybe this time Lucy will let Charlie Brown kick the ball.

Townshend has done warned you.
And Shultz stated flat out that Lucy will never allow it.

Just sayin’.

They already fooled me three times and I am a bit gun-shy.

See… that’s what I’m talkin’ about.
That’s one more chance then you ought to offer up to family and friends
And two more then a stranger deserves.

Of course… I are a cynic.

You guys get 60 minutes up there? If figured with the exchange rate you'd only get 57 1/2 minutes or something like that. :confused3

Well at current exchange rates it would actually be 67.58 Minutes.
