This trip we decided to do some exploring, we are really thinking of hopping on the DVC band wagon so we wanted to look at some of the rooms, we went to OKW and the Boardwalk. OKW was really nice but not our style. When we went to Boardwalk we absolutely loved the hotel, we already loved the area so if we buy we are looking at maybe re-sale at the Boardwalk. We might stop over to GF to check it out but the hotel is a little too snooty for us common folk. Lol!!

We own at BWV and did resale. We really like the area, although BLT is still my favorite. BWV contract will expire in less than 30 years. I should be 70 and hope to be living in FL at that point.

I’ll concur on Thanksgiving. We did that way back in 2002 and it got steadily busier across the week. We also did the week leading into Christmas in 2010 and that one was actually the single most crowded trip to the World I’ve ever taken. Hope y’all can find some other alternative. The driving will be tough but maybe a couple of short trips during quieter times would help you work with that newly constrained calendars a bit better.

That stinks. We figured there would be only be able to get every other fall break for the next decade, and that we could go in the summer the other times. Yes, it is still hot and crowded, but we still get to go. Unfortunately, with FIL uncertain summer trip, we can't schedule this summer.

Haven't been here in a while.. Hope all is well. Just a few more days until I write the final chapter in The Year of Chris. A little sad that I will have a lame duck annual pass soon. It's been a great year and we certainly got our money's worth. After the last trip I didn't know if I'd be excited about this one. No longer worried about that. Me and daughter #1 will have a great time. I had her parent/teacher conference this morning. The rule has always been straight A's in 4th grade means you get to have your ears pierced. The teacher says it would be almost impossible for her to blow it. So we'll be buying earrings at Disney. I don't mind the expense. She's such a good kid that I have a feeling I'm going to buy her a ton of stuff next week. Oh well, it's the last bit of money the mouse will get from me for a while.

Like most of you, I like to plan my days at the park pretty carefully. Is that necessary at MNSSHP? I've really not done much prep work for the party. We'll get there around 3 for the parade. I've heard that our party is sold out (Oct 30). Will it feel like an exclusive event or will the fact that it is sold out make it feel like the same crowd level as normal?

Well guys according to multiple sites Legend of Jack Sparrow and The Sorcerers Hat are getting the axe, Sparrow by early Nov and Hat as early as January.

Never checked out Sparrow but heard a lot of negative. I know The Hat was mixed but I've always liked it. I guess they want the Chinese Theatre to be the focal point again.

I had a great idea for next year's trip. FIL is taking both families (4, 6, 2) to Universal & Sea World in the summer, whenever his heinness, King BIL, decides to take his vacation. BIL plans to let us know in January sometime. My idea is to add a week at WDW following that trip for a 2 week vacation.

DW's response - we might not be allowed to do so.

When does his heinness, King BIL, who mooches $20K of his mother's retirement funds, $5K from 88 year old great-grandmother, and unknown from everyone else, get appointed king? Or better yet, when does King Mooch BIL get to decide when my family goes on vacation? But, this one is on DW. She still worships the King and her family of origin. Then, we rank in there somewhere.

Normally, we zip thru MNSSHP. We've been able to do the three mountains and all our plans before. This year was way crowded, not sure if it was sold out, and we did not ride nearly as much as we wanted. So, just have your game plan of what is most important - waiting hours for picture(s), premium parade/ firework seating, rides, candy, etc.

I wasn't able to get that one in as well. I'm hoping the next improvement will be better.

Sorry to hear that. I feel bad that they’re issuing warnings and taking down such posts here. I think their problem isn't that anyone is selling anything so much as it’s driving the conversations away from the community board. They’re losing their traffic which is the same as losing customers in their monetizing model. Since I’m currently booked on the same cruise as you, I’m part of the same thread you’re talking about. It’s been open since Mach of this year yet has only 77 total posts right now. The last several cruise threads I’ve been part of had conversations spread across thousands of posts by this point and that is what’s scaring the folks that run the boards. They see that their community is dying.

I’ve also joined the group out on the other site and for the majority of folks with the right personality; the natural extroverts who enjoy living their lives out loud, it’s a convenient and very easy environment for them to keep in touch with all their interests. But as a minority introvert, here’s where that trend disables me…

Over here I know who I’m talking to and what their connection to me is. I also know that folks who aren't taking part or aren't interested generally don’t even show up. Over there, most of the commentary on posts comes from an individual posters inner circle of closer friends and family and I’m left feeling like I’m rather intruding in their world instead of being part of a specific larger group. I read along with the groups I’m part of over there, but I feel almost compelled not to add to the conversation because of the vast array of outside folks who I’m unfamiliar with and who am pretty sure (in my mind) don’t want me interfering in their private party. It frustrates me to the point of almost giving up.

Headed off to the MK in the morning yesterday to try and bang out a bunch of rides, 7DMT was crazy, 60 minutes at rope drop. I used the time productively and scored a FP for BOG. Which was great, good, atmosphere, service, the whole thing. We found a great spot for the Parade. Awesome parade and the dragon is awesome.

We hit Epcot for some more F&W action but first SE and Soarin. Drink, eat, drink, eat, drink, drink, drink, drunk.
