My boss approved me going. I just have to work out the logistics of how long. I'm thinking Mon\Tue and then back to the Burgh Wednesday afternoon or evening. Current issue is that we check out Saturday A.M. and the conference discount for S&D isn't until Sunday. I'll kick myself if I don;t make this work out!

Good luck with that. DW and I actually had a similar discussion about DD's spring soccer team when they needed another coach. Except I claimed that I would be the best coach in the league because I was once a paid member of a professional soccer team. Which is true. ::yes:: I was their accountant. The accountant who would skip the games because he hated soccer so much and couldn't understand anything that was going on past "they're kicking the ball all over the f'n place"... DW finally convinced me to not volunteer, for the kids' sake... :confused3

Just remember to keep chanting, "happy wife, happy life" then drink another beer......repeat

Welcome!

Morning guys! Last day of work before heading out on vacation to the KC area. I'm hoping to work out a meet Aaron. I consider this more Disney training since we will be in the van for eight hours.

Hey guys,

My name is Tom from Chicago.

40yrs old
Married 11 years
3 daughters 11,8,3

Been to WDW many times, but this year we're doing Thanksgiving. We're also driving down for the first time.

A little freaked about crowd level, but I think with enough planning and a patient mindset, we should be ok.

It's Florida in November, pitch a tent at the campground for a night.

Morning David and safe travels! Is this van like the DisDADS bus?:drive:

Good news, we have actually had a couple of dry days so I may yet get the cabbage trial in the ground before it is too late and I have the first plot of sweet potatoes ready to dig on Saturday. Only 4 more weeks until we are overrun by 1500 kids for Pumpkin Days, but once I get through September the rest of the year is looking pretty good.

We'll be in WDW over Thanksgiving week.

As it turns out, another friend and his family will be there that same time.

The wives and kids are planning some time together in the early evening.

My friend and I were thinking we could find a nice watering hole and BS for a while.

I'd rather check out some places in the resorts if there's any worth checking out.

I'm open to Downtown as well.

Just a few good beers kind of place in a realxed atmosphere.

Check out the Boardwalk, ESPN Club, or the Big River Grill.

Or at DTD you can check out Raglan Road.

Welcome to all the new guys!

I see Norm already explained the dues structure, so just pull up a lawn chair and join in.

Here you go. Based on the 20 minutes or so of World Cup action I actually watched, this appears to be your best local resource for training the kids up to play that game: http://www.racinetheatre.org/education/classes/

Not too much different than some basketball games I’ve seen.

Oh, and since your over this way: :wave2:

You’d be saving the company the air fare so it only seems right that they’d put up for one more day of accommodations somewhere down there.

Just got back from the dentist. Teeth were fine, I just go now because I miss the pain. Actually, I had a crown put on. I am starving because I missed lunch but my mouth is so numb I am afraid of biting my tongue off if I eat.
Liquid Dinner! Beer is made from barley and hops, which are plants, so we'll call it a vegetable. But just for tonight.

Good luck with that.

Not sure of the condition of the Poly Pool Bar by then with all of the construction, but that's a nice place. Or the Tambu Lounge outside of Ohana. Wilderness Lodge has a nice lounge too.

8 hour rides stink, especially when you realize you're not in I-75 passing thru Atlanta on the way to WDW.

The best bar is TOTWL @ BLT, but one of you needs to be a DVC member to get there. I also like ESPN Club because of the draft beer, but that is not relaxing for some.

Welcome.
Dues are payable in dole whips, bacon, beer, or cake. You mail 800 or so of them to me, and I will mail to all the rest of the guys.

Like many of the clubs we have that we mustn't speak of, some of us wager on 40-something amateur tennis games. We've been using your posts as insider recon and wagering significant amounts of money. The vig on your matches is telling us how bad your game is. Sorry we had to tell you in this manner. Oh, and your wife was in on it, thus the pasta and inevitable weight gain. :lmao:

Been presented already but Boardwalk / BCV area is great, ESPN Club, or the Crew's Cup Lounge in Yacht Club is laid back lounge. Raglan Road is a must if you hit DTD.

Hi Guys!

Was able to move our trip to WDW up a couple of days and we are flying out in a little over 5 hours. Not taking a computer with us this trip, so won't be able to update anything till I get back on Wednesday. I have my smartphone, but might not get on the DIS, unless I have a lot of time to do it. You know the DIS once you log on it shows you've read all your subscriptions and posts.
Enjoy your long weekend and if anyone new shows up, let them know I will get to them when I get back.

And before you say it, I will have a Great Time, I will have fun storming the castle, and I will drink one for you! I am having two in Germany for Paul. :lmao:

This is man world. We discuss man topics. MAN LAW!!! Below is our list of MAN LAWS as decreed by members:

  • When you are traveling with your family to any Disney park, for any reason - be PRESENT with them, be ENGAGED with them, and for heaven's sake, be RESPONSIVE to them. GET OFF your stupid electronic devices! (Reference)

In case you haven't heard...

Mo’Rockin’, Off Kilter, Spirit of America Fife & Drum Corps and World Showcase Players are going away by the end of September. According to the Disney Parks blog they are being replaced by "a traditional Berber music and dance troupe in Morocco, a corps of dynamic flag-waving performers in Italy, a thrilling lumberjack-inspired show in Canada, and a Celtic folk music ensemble at the United Kingdom and more."

These have been around for a while and I am going to miss them. The guy carrying the flag for the fife and drum corps was there for ages. Flag waving in Italy? Like the reported closing of Maelstrom all will happen before my October trip. Sorry I am going to miss seeing their last performances.
