Yeah for Friday. Take the rest of the week off.

Hey- for all you dads that work your tails off- have a great Labor Day weekend. For the rest of you dads - have a great Labor Day Weekend!

I have the ultimate Labor Day experience as I married DW over Labor Day weekend. I can't escape that act of hard work all year long, including weekends. This will be our 14th anniversary.

Morning guys. T-minus two hours before we to KC. Have a great Labor Day weekend!

Have a great trip.

As the resident state worker, I'm sure I belong in the former group.
.

Fortunately, you can go to work and catch up on your sleep from the baby crying at night. :lmao:

Quiet! My boss might hear you.:rotfl2:

Top O the Mornin Dads! Still irked about Drum & Fiife:mad: Have appointment this afternoon to get the kidneys scanned and see the Doc to hopefully get the word that the surgery stuff has worked and no more procedures. Enjoy Labor Day Weekend, Labour Day for the Dads to the north.

Stunner in Columbia. Changed to the Ole Miss/Boise and flip back during commercials. For once, I am glad the Head Ball Coach is wearing Maroon instead of Orange and Blue tonight. Oops, another TD 38-14. Go UTC!
UTC got beat 20-16 but still a great showing playing up to D1 on the road.
Evening Guys.

Welcome to the new guys, have a great trip Randall (although I'm guessing you may be there by now.

Declan had his last soccer practice tonight, provincial semi goes Saturday. WE had the traditional pre-provincials team spaghetti dinner tonight and I think some of the parents are more psyched than the boys.

School soccer starts next week but that is a lot less stressful for the boys.
Best of luck to Declan and the "psyched parents" ;)

You as well
‘Morning all…
Hope y’all can take advantage of the long weekend coming up here.
It will be nice not to have to be at my desk at 6am Monday.

Of course I’m still forbidden to travel on the first weeks of each month, so I can’t make good use of the extra time. And I still have to get up early Sunday and work anyway. And while I don’t have to be “in” the office Monday I still have to get up early and run through the morning reporting processes. But on the up side, the mild fall-ish weather we’ve had while being stuck inside all this workweek will be replaced by the more customary high 90’s and the humidity will shoot back up…
Will have to do a couple of hours of work related this weekend myself. But I can do it when I want, hanging outside and with a cold beverage so its bearable.

Congrats Norm - pass on my best to Mrs Norm as well.

Yikes. $800 stinks, but it is better than years of car payments.
Agreed. That's why I bought a Toyota after all.
They are worth all the hype. My kids like the orange, I am fond of the pineapple. Both are awesome. At times, in EPCOT, they have spiced Dole Whips.
I had one of the spiced ones during the Flower and Garden festival in March. Good stuff.
For eating a quinoa? That may be a yes. Better drink a beer soon.
The quinoa tasted just like you all would expect. No need for any of you to ever experiment with it. I did it for you. Avoid it at all costs. On the flip side, I had a gluten free meatloaf at '50s Prime Time and it was very good.
Dude, happy wife, happy life ;)
Yup.
I think this more calls for an extraction team with beer, bacon, dole whips and a t-bone
I did get to have one and a half Dole Whips on this trip so it wasn't all bad. But other than that and one caprisun, I didn't cheat.
As someone that has had stomach issues, I can sympathize. Clean eating is the way to go, but deep down inside, you will always yearn for the "good stuff." Props for staying with it.
This is finally over on Monday. Can't wait.
Well, it is August! In Florida! Stay as cools you can and avoid heat stroke. Sure you are going to have a blast even with the heat.
I haven't spent time in Florida in the summer in about 25 yrs. Man, that was hot. Fortunately, Mon-Weds were quite a bit cooler.
Chris, you are killing me, first you are at DaWorld don't let the heat get to you man. I was for removing the man card and Chicago sports fan card away until I read you are doing this for health reasons - stick with it.

Now you're talking, that's the Chris I met :thumbsup2
Ya know, when we did the tour together in March, I got sunburned even worse.
Really? No, seriously, really? :rolleyes2
Yup. Remember how messed up I was during the half-marathon? That is still what I'm dealing with.
Another night of tennis. But, I stunk it up. Still a far way from consistency.

Last night, I made BLT sandwiches, sweated thru 2 shirts, and lost 2 pounds.

Tonight, DW made frozen ravioli, I sweated thru 2 shirts, and I gained 2 pounds.

I think DW is trying to kill me. :lmao:
A quicker way to kill you would be to make you eat like I have been for the past few weeks. You'll want to kill yourself in no time.

Quick - tell me everything you guys know about coaching U8 recreational soccer.

DS's coach for the past 2 years wasn't able to continue this season. We signed DS up again, expecting to be assigned to another team. But nope, he was assigned to the same team, with about half of the kids that were on it last year and a handful of new players - and no coach. The first game is next Saturday and the organizing body is "working hard to find a coach." Which I'm pretty sure is just code for "waiting around until one of the parents with no soccer experience blinks and volunteers to coach." The problem here is that my soccer knowledge was entirely gained in the past 2 years by watching my son's games and practices and streaming a handful of World Cup games in Spanish. So I know how to shout "GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL" when someone scores, but that's about it.

I've been talking to the mom of one of the other players, and we're leaning toward volunteering, but only to ensure that another dad - one with some high school soccer experience, but waaaaaay to intense for 8 year olds - doesn't volunteer. We have no idea if he is even interested since he was only at about half of his son's games last year, but just the thought of him doing it has us worried.

I want to make sure the kids have a dependable coach, but on the other hand, I'm not sure what I can teach them besides "see that net over there? kick the ball into it." Am I crazy?
You can do it. There is probably a Youth Soccer Coaching for Dummies book out there somewhere. I just agreed to teach English to a bunch of immigrants/refugees with next to no preparation. If I can do that, you can coach soccer.
In case you haven't heard...

Mo’Rockin’, Off Kilter, Spirit of America Fife & Drum Corps and World Showcase Players are going away by the end of September. According to the Disney Parks blog they are being replaced by "a traditional Berber music and dance troupe in Morocco, a corps of dynamic flag-waving performers in Italy, a thrilling lumberjack-inspired show in Canada, and a Celtic folk music ensemble at the United Kingdom and more."

These have been around for a while and I am going to miss them. The guy carrying the flag for the fife and drum corps was there for ages. Flag waving in Italy? Like the reported closing of Maelstrom all will happen before my October trip. Sorry I am going to miss seeing their last performances.
I just read that this morning. Bummer. If I had known, I would have worked some of that in to the schedule this week. I never got to see the World Showcase Players.

Kidney stones suck. I remember when the doc told me that if you get one, you have a really good chance of getting another some day. Now whenever I feel any pain in my abdomen I worry that one is on the way. But at least with a kidney stone, you don't have to worry long. Once they start hurting, you're at DEFCON 5 in a matter of minutes.

Thanks. I won't ask which of those Disdads you brought with you to sing.

Quinoa and restricted diets don't sound fun.

Congratulations and happy anniversary!

Thanks and will do. Hope the kidney scan went well.

Wrapping up the summer and vacation with a low key weekend in Sarnia.

Great day at the Exhibition yesterday. Girls sure made good use of their ride wristbands. I had one too in case Audrey wanted to ride, and ended up on rides I hadn't been on in over 20 years. Also dragged in a Ferris Wheel, with my fear of heights, was great. All and all, a great time. Guess I took doctors advice to heart, didn't have any bad-for-me foods. Dad would have been disappointed. His philosophy was " if you don't get a belly ache, you didn't have a good time". Heh.

** Bad Idea of the Day ***

Dig your own grave I guess.

‘t with anything seems a poor choice to me. As for the rest of it, I get what they’re doing in general by swapping things that are more indicative of the country rather than somewhat Americanized things in the style of the country. We’ll see how it goes.

Oh yeah, you can't walk down the street here in Canada without running into lumberjacks...

Yeah for Friday. Take the rest of the week off.

But I've already been off...?

Bear of a day today. Was on the phone non-stop from 8:30 until about 20 minutes ago. No time for lunch and barely time to use the bathroom. Have a headache and starving. Tacos for tonight.

Hope everyone has a great Labor Day and you enjoy the long weekend with your families.

Happy Anniversary, you have my permission to visit the bourbon bar to celebrate.

UTC got beat 20-16 but still a great showing playing up to D1 on the road.

Good luck with the kidney checkup.

I saw the score. It could be worse, you could be a fan of S. Carolina or Vanderbilt. Interesting games yesterday and more to come this weekend. Saturday morning will include a trip to the store for supplies and hibernation in front of the TV all day. Florida plays the Little Sisters of the Poor (Idaho) at 6:00. I don't care who they are playing, they just need a win. So GO GATORS!

Morning guys. Busy labor day weekend over here. Unpacking stuff int he new house still, then up to the beach tonight for a big family party tomorrow. Should be fun.

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend.

I hope the unpacking isn't too strenuous and the party is a blast at the beach.

Morning all. Nothing really on the schedule this weekend. I'm looking forward to the relaxation.

Sounds like you all had a great time. I enjoy that carnival food - corn dogs, funnel cake, deep fried oreos - and couldn't have passed it by.

But I've already been off...?

We are all a bit off. :lmao:

Happy Anniversary, you have my permission to visit the bourbon bar to celebrate.
!

Thanks. Glad your long work day is over.

Quinoa I like, restricted diets...not so much.

Never had a quinoa, and I'll let you have my share of them. I'll gladly accept your dole whip for my quinoa today.

Happy anniversary to you and your DW. Hope you guys find some time to celebrate this weekend.

Me too, but it was a combo of fear plus not wanting to break the bank. There is a chance the blood sugar reading was off now I'm getting paranoid about keeping it down. Now next year at Disney, will be both a free pass for DW and I.

Other issue was we spent a lot more time on the midway so the girls could do the rides. The big Food Building closed before we could get back, so I missed out on the Coke Freestyle machine and the deep fried Coke I was thinking of. Amelia didn't get get the fudge she wished for either. Yet another factor was the lines were HUGE. Way busier then we've dealt with before. The line to grab the Tiny Tom mini donuts, a tradition in my family was 45 minutes so I went without. We will return in a couple of years, I can wait.
