Don't put your money on Pope Pius (AKA me).
Probably not the right thought process, but as a lifelong Roman Catholic, I was looking forward to a new Pope since Benedict looked like Emperor Palpatine.

Scary!!

Congrats!! Good job to them

No Sarnia this weekend like we had planned, DW has throat/chest infections and laryngitis, so keeping this on the low. In charge of dinner so ordered pizza and wings :thumbsup2 Girls watching Wizard of Oz, nice quiet evening

Love evening like this... Well except DW being sick.

Evening men! We heard back from the adoption agency we applied with and....We have been accepted! :cool1:

Thank you for all of the prayers! Thank you to everyone who has ordered bracelets! Your generosity has been a great gift in this adventure.

It is quite shocking how thorough we will be vetted to adopt children. I wish my BIL had to go through the same process before he was allowed to breed :confused3

We will be chasing papers now for the next 6-8 weeks including getting finger printed. As an Italian American, I am not real comfortable walking into the FBI office here in Indy to get finge printed. They have been keeping us down since prohibition :lmao:

Congrats!!

Just mention in passing something about cement shoes and they will go easy on ya. :lmao:

Home from basketball games. They each won their games, but more importantly, they each played their own individual game - oldest defense and youngest offense.
:thumbsup2

Haven't seen the Black Cauldren in years. I'd go with that.

Not that my vote counts, but Black Cauldron!!

I have always had a soft spot for The Jungle Book!:thumbsup2

Junglebook has much better songs.

Jungle Book has good tunes.
Neither one had seen Black Cauldron so we went with that!
I'm hoping tomorrow evening the whole family can sit down and enjoy Jungle Book.

Very good news. Hopefully this is just the beginning of the good news. Sounds like you're off to a good start!:thumbsup2

Last night my son and I did our 1st Cub Scout Pinewood Derby, well I will admit I'm not a wood craftsman, we raced 4 races, 4 cars per race, we came in 4th 3 times and 3rd once:scared1: The good news is I'm a fast learner and next year there is only room for improvement:thumbsup2, I guess the Rain Gutter Regatta is up next so I hope I can redeem myself on that race:confused3

The one thing I'm grateful for is the Pack Leader is Old School and only 1st, 2nd 3rd place gets trophies, instead of giving everyone something just so no one feels bad, needless to say we weren't even close and in no way deserved one, but not winning gives us a reason to try harder next year:thumbsup2, My son was sad but it's a valuable life lesson, you can't win every time:confused3

So what do we get if we picked correctly? Cash prize? :confused3

Even cooler is that you and DS did it together. I'm a believer in that old school approach. And that builds character. When you place next time, it will mean a heck of a lot more. I coach my DD's Tball team and they give a weekly award for different values (sportsmanship, listening, teamwork, etc.) and some kids will ask for the award. So I tell them on day 1...DO NOT ASK FOR THE AWARD! The medal is earned, not given like a present! I think it teaches the kids to work for what they want and that they do truly appreciate it more when they get it.

I think there's some issue with the IRS if I give cash, so we'll go with the standard.
Just add a Dole Whip to my tab the next time you're at Aloha Isle.

David, congratulations on your good news. Thoughts and prayers with your family as you move forward through the process.

Hello dads

Morning Sean. Where ye been?

The one thing I'm grateful for is the Pack Leader is Old School and only 1st, 2nd 3rd place gets trophies, instead of giving everyone something just so no one feels bad, needless to say we weren't even close and in no way deserved one, but not winning gives us a reason to try harder next year:thumbsup2, My son was sad but it's a valuable life lesson, you can't win every time:confused3

Agreed. I think I am ok with it for really young children, but once you start keeping score, trophies for everyone just encourage participation instead of effort/ excellence. In my 8th grade year, my school's tennis team won the championship in our league. Now, I don't remember if I won my individual singles/ doubles games, but I saw the trophies in two boxes. They were both the same size, and the only difference was that one name plate said "winner" and the other 2nd place. I don't think I was playing for the trophy, but afterwards, I certainly thought - what is the point.

Congrats David. I'm sure your file at the FBI is as non-existent as mine. You'll do ok. I did those studies for our State Adoption families early on, and they are time consuming to get all the background checks done. I would certainly vote for a procreating license for people.

We call it not only the Michael Jackson cocktail....but it is also Milk of Amnesia:lmao:

That is both funny and sad at the same time. A great singer/entertainer, but I certainly wouldn't want him adopting children.

Congrats... :thumbsup2

Here they call 'em Cub Cars...

We had our race yesterday as well. I am not sure how Seth did, as we didn't attend. :(

We inadvertently scheduled eye doctor appts. at the same time.

I believe they still raced his car, so we will find out Wednesday night.

On a side note - I have ordered contact lenses, am going to get rid of the glasses for a while. Any contact lens wearing dads out there??

I've worn contacts for the last 25 years or so. Still have a pair of glasses that I use as backup and in the evenings when I'm relaxing.

Good on you!! Can't bring myself to trying to poke something onto my eyeballs..:confused3
