L. Frank Baum wrote 14 Oz books. Walt saw the franchise potential back before there even was such thing as franchise movies. He wanted to make a Wizard of Oz animated film after Snow White, but when he approached Baum's heirs, he found out they'd already optioned movie rights to what became MGM. Disney was still interested, and ended up buying the rights to the other 13 Oz books that Baum wrote in 1954. They then spent nearly 60 years in a sort of development hell. Disney did make some use of those rights, but mostly on forgettable (or wish it was forgettable) attempts.

I have high hopes for this version though. They can use the same characters, places, etc. that MGM used, as long as they appear in the 13 books Disney owns the rights to.

Well I already learned something new today, I was curious about this so I looked it up, besides various canned OZ projects, looks like there was also plans for an OZ park expansion back in the day but like most of the other projects it was also scrapped

Hope everyone is having a good day. Just waiting for the last game of the Steelers season to start.

I did think about taking my 8 yr old to see The Hobbit buy I think she may be too young to follow it.

Hello hello...hope everyone's ben well, missed alot of pages since Friday night, so not going to attempt to catch up. Prayers and congrts to those who need it.

Got to see the Hobbit last night with DW, pretty good movie...it was nice to go out with DW without the kids for once.

We are stying here overnight tonight, and driving home very early in the morning, being dropped off at work, do my shift, and no idea my New Years plans. Been invited to my parents, but by the time I get off work, home, showered, changed etc, it'll be near 8 already, the kids will already be tired out..not to mention I'm up at 5, 3 hour drive, work a full shift with the New Years rush....no idea yet.

We were suppose to travel to my parents today and spend NYE with them but the weather is not cooperating. Looks like we will be spending a quiet evening at home and head there later in the week.
