Got through the night, but man it felt like forever, but now off till August 7th :cool1:

8 1/2 and next November 10... My they grow up so fast... ;)

Well of course, this November she turns 9, next November 10!

Cool…
You’ll have to tell us how that works (and/or doesn’t work) for y’all.
.

I can set up the customized bracelets, but no where does it let me finalize things so they can send them. I am going to be calling WDW tomorrow to book some CAA perks, so I"ll look into it further.

Asks the music guy...

Let's just say her hips don't lie.

The operative word there was “music”… I listen.
Watching videos ain’t listening so I generally don’t know what any performer actually looks like even if I know who they are. Dance music and most pop music does little for my ears so I don’t spend much time on those particular styles. As such… I’ve not encountered this particular “artist”.

I did search for the tune you mentioned and have actually heard bits and pieces of it from time to time.
The station got changed very quickly on each occasion.

My first experience with Shakira and her talents was when I was in college. I was headed to class and as I walked through the living room I saw my roommate staring at the TV. I stopped to look and asked who she was. Neither of us knew at the time, but "Whenever, Wherever" quickly became my favorite music video.

Good news. Do you all have the "list" of girls that you get an exemption from because you are married? DW allowed me to add Shakira as my 'free pass'. Think I have a chance! :lmao:

I met Shakira and danced with her!

It was when I was in the military and was TDY in Bogota, Columbia. A friend of mine (also in the military) was dating a girl who was on a soap opera on Univision (or Telemundo or one of those stations.) They filmed it in Bogota. For New Years Eve on 1996 (turning 1997), I was invited with my friend to his girlfriends' parents house in south Bogota. They invited me because they felt bad that I was away from home during NYE (it is a big deal down there.) I obliged and we had dinner with his girlfriend and her family. She mentioned her cousin would be stopping by to celebrate NYE with all of us and that she was an up and coming singer in Colombia. (I had never heard of her at the time.) It was Shakira. She came over and we all were dancing to bring in the new year. She actually taught me how to Bossanova and Rhumba that night. I remember her saying over and over "It's all in the hips. Move your hips!" I bet we danced for hours. I was single and she was -so, naturally, we were the 'odd ones out' and were 'stuck' with each other for the night. She was beautiful and I was... well, just me. But we both had a blast - it was fun! She actually told me that my friend and I were unique down there because we had blonde hair (yes, I still had hair back then) and blue eyes. Apparently girls really dig that down there in Colombia. And they really like American guys because they treat women with respect compared to most Columbian guys - her words, not mine.

That was my biggest brush with fame. I doubt she would remember me, but I might send her a fan mail to see if she does just for the heck of it.

See... now you’ve answered my question.
She’s a dancer and video star (who may or may not sing)

Very cool story John. To be sure, that’s a bigger brush with celebrity then I’ve ever had
(future, past or otherwise).

And even more importantly, thanks for your service back then sir.

I think John wins the Internet today. That post is going to be hard to beat.

Take him surfing.

There are a lot of oceans in Ky. I'll get Stitch to one and then get all those dues from him. Good plan.

.

My hero. New plan
1) Let hair grow out and dye in blond
2) Go to Columbia and 'dance' with Shakira

I think John wins the Internet today. That post is going to be hard to beat.

I think he wins it for the rest of the month. A picture dancing with her - the rest of the year. A picture of the other with her - Grand Champion for life

I SO wish I had a picture from that night. Unfortunately, smart phones were not around yet so you had to lug a camera around. I know photos were taken that night - by my friend's girlfriend's family. I am not sure how I colud get a hold of them now to even ask if they have the photographic evidence that I could have. :) I can't even remember my friend's name. Some friend, huh?

I did find a photo of me from a view of Bogota. I stand corrected - I had 'some' hair left. Here is the photo of a photo:

Problem solved!
We should start to see those dues come rolling in any day now.

Seconded…
Now we just need the pictures.

Oh, by the way… ‘Morning all.

Congrats Don... you need a ticker!

Doh! Forgot about the ticker... I'll get right on that

I would have but I had to work, maybe you might win the lottery:lmao:
I leave the lottery playing to you, my friend :thumbsup2 Still wondering what will happen if we actually MET! :rotfl2:

Back for a day before I hit the road again. Looks like you were all more chatty than tween girls with about the same level of raging hormones.

I've got nothing to compare with Shakira (after I googled and saw who she was) but SWMBO met a bunch of famous people working for USAirways at a small regional airport. This was before she ever met me and she is so disorganized I'm sure any pictures she had she lost. I never heard of most of them because I don't follow entertainers but I had heard of Los Lobos and she and a friend got to eat lunch with them.

Best I can do is Steve Forbes and Dan Quayle's wife but when you live in Iowa meeting politicians is routine. I should have had pictures because I have a nice camera package that was worth over $1000 that I might get $50 for now on flebay. :headache:

Afternoon guys, hope the weekend is treating you all well. Chilling out right now at my parents house while DW drives my dads on a few errands (he still cannot drive), them off to get our Mickey Mail and a few other things. May or may not attempt the pool later, but it looks like rain.

Enjoy the afternoon and you can keep the rain. We have finally had 3 days of dry weather and don't want more. You had also better shut the door, you are letting all the cold air out. We set a record low for the date.

You ever make it over to Cartagena? For a while there, I spent half my life in that city...

All I can say is..."Me Encanta Con Cartagena"

No, never made it over there. We were basically confined to Bogota. Plain clothes only, no uniforms. If asked where we were from we would say "Canada, eh."

I turned into a "leg man" while I was there. Wow! I guess it helps when they walk everywhere in the city. :)
