Current count is seven. I know Aaron, Terry and Brian have 10/11 DD's. Bringing our total to 10. Looks like we're in for a world of hurt in just a few years. With, well you know, and, you know, but then there's THE BOY!

Yep. DD is 10 (going on 19, in her own mind). She'll be 11 at the beginning of October. I enjoy torturing her by refusing to call her a "teenager." I insist that, for now, she is only a TENager, and that she has to wait until she's 13 to be a TEENager.

Yes, I remember your DD well, very well!

WDW trip is in the single digits now, yeah baby:cool1:

Woo Hoo! :cool1::banana:

How'd it go?

I've been trying to give my kids one-on-one time once a month. We try and go out on the date of the month that matches their birthday (my daughter was born Feb. 5, so we try and go do something on the 5th of every month, etc.). It doesn't happen every month, but the kids really look forward to it.

That is a great idea! I think I will start that with my kids, too. :thumbsup2

I called her from work. "Anna, this is Daddy. Would you want to go on a date with me tonight? Great! I'll pick you up around 5:30." When I got home I sneaked in to the yard, clipped a nice flower and went to the front door to ring the door bell. We never use the front door so I thought that would be special. My cutie was all cleaned up and wearing a nice dress. She loved the flower even though she knew exactly where it came from. Mom took our picture, put the flower in a vase, and off we went. First stop Walmart. We returned a few things got her supplies and wandered the toy and game aisles and just chatted. Then to Barnes and Noble to browse books and buy her a treat. We sat down in the Starbucks in there and each had a Reeses peanut butter cup cookie and just talked. Took her home and asked if she would want to go on another date sometime to which she said yes. All in all a good start. There's definitely something special about doing stuff with just one kid at a time.

You are a really great dad! :thumbsup2 Cool story, bro. :)

Make that three!:thumbsup2

Already have the PP+. You get to use the Magic Bands and FP+?? Were you selected for the test? I don't even have the MDE option on my app yet. Fill me in. If there's a chance I can get the Magic Bands, I think the kids would be excited.

I wanted to look I on a reservation I had so I popped into the My Disney Experience app and while tooling around in there I found the section for it, and on each day of my reservation I had the option to use FP+

All this talk about DD's dating is making my stomach turn just thinking about it and my oldest is only 7. I'm going to need more bourbon.

Yes you will as will all the DADS talking about "no dating", "convents" etc. Been there, hoped like the rest of yas, but no chance so I wish you all luck. You will be like me making sure the "knothead" comes to the door and meets you. Yes you will be surprised at how many try to just pull into the driveway - NOT! Then the staying up late, or falling asleep on the couch until they come home :surfweb:

Here's a toast to help all you Dads with your daughter's future dating. Teach them well, hope you know his parents at least casually, have open discussions with them and trust them until they give you a reason not to.

CHEERS

Proof.... Not good at posting photos. Sorry if this is too big.

Correct... sorry I missed the question first time round... my DD is 11...

It is going to be a fun next few years as I sit back and chuckle. I am especially talking to Jim and Norm.

Yeah, we'll all laugh about it as I empty the septic tank in my camper into your storm drain. I just won't be silly enough to post it on here for you to comment about.

Thanks. I can't imagine drinking much more in a few years, but it looks like that will be the plan.

Last summer DS and I went away for a father son weekend trip. We had "the talk" but we also talk about relationships in general, dating and the best way to handle himself from a Christian perspective. It was a great weekend and at the time DS was like I see no reason why I'd want to date before I'm 18. Looks like I might need to take another trip with him.
.

While I was raised Catholic, my dad and I did not talk about dating much. And, while I knew what I was supposed to do, the hormones completely overpowered knowledge. I just hope my dds are better than me.

:lmao::rotfl2::lmao: DS is 13 and he has basically decided girls get in the way of sports and hanging with the guys so I'm in the same boat. Of course that doesn't stop the girls from trying. We were at the country club over the weekend and 3 girls came up to him and were clearly interested in a conversation. He talked to them for a few minutes and then went to the tennis courts. Of course I razzed him a little afterwards and he got  at me. But that's my job as a dad, right.

I tell my girls to never chase after a boy. The good ones will chase after them. My dds will go outside to play basketball. There are about 5 boys there age in the neighborhood who magically show up when they walk outside. But, when my girls play them, they school them in basketball and it pisses the boys off. Yet, they still return everyday. I wish I knew karate to teach them. :lmao:

Good morning gents! Happy Friday - thank the maker, and looking forward to a good weekend for all. Have not been here since Monday due to travel but glad to be back home as of last night. DS has passed all tests, received is official drivers license this week and I have been billed by insurance for adding a 16 year old boy to the policy  Proud of him none the less.

Good news on the mobility. Bad news on the insurance payment.

It must be in the stars, or Walt looking out for us, as I caught DW at the right point last night after coming home from a business trip for going in early March during DS spring break. With DD going off to college this fall and the kids breaks now not lining up thought it would be nice for us to go with just DS (definately the bigger DIS of the two kids) and she said sure why not and started singing DIS tunes :confused3 She did state that Aulani in the summer with the whole family was a must and if our DVC points did not work out for March at a DVC resort we should think about the Poly :confused3 I then figured I was on a roll and tossed out that we were thinking about adding additional DVC points this year as we have been talking about increasing frequency of trips as the kids schedules are not always gonna line up and some other reasons so if we did that we would be more than covered for next year and DW replied with "that's right" lets just get DD into school and look at adding points :confused3 DS was a witness to all of this and through his giant grin stated that "we have now fully converted her"pixiedust:

Well, the eye witness doesn't help. DW claims to remember things I allegedly said years ago, however, claims to never remember anything they way I do. Even with a witness, she says they are wrong too. Maybe video? Extra DVC (stays or points) is a great idea.

Excellent picture.

I'm with you Paul. We have been feverishly looking into all girls schools and convents. I'll send you the list.:thumbsup2
!

We have a few convents where I live. Passionists and Ursalines. We have a Carmelite Nursing Home

Freakonomics podcast talked abut higher divorce rates for marriages with first born daughters as opposed to boys. Some of us at fighting against the numbers.

First one = :faint:

Second = not funny and not a thumb :thumbsup2
:

Of course it is funny. I'll type louder the next time so you can hear it. :lmao:

Hmmm... what's in it for me? :confused3 :lmao:

If the satisfaction of giving my child free braces isn't enough, then all that does of high KY culture will surely benefit you and your family. :smokin:

How'd it go?

I've been trying to give my kids one-on-one time once a month. We try and go out on the date of the month that matches their birthday (my daughter was born Feb. 5, so we try and go do something on the 5th of every month, etc.). It doesn't happen every month, but the kids really look forward to it.

That's a good idea. Remember, you and your wife need to stop around kid 30 or you won't be able to continue that tradition. Rabbits ain't got nothing on you.
See Andy, more KY culture.

If anyone's going to catch up to Stopher and Zerfs, it's you.

I got 14 visits in and won't be able to pass Dave, but I'll keep the gap as close as possible until I move there and maybe I can pass him up.

Really cool date idea with dd. I've taken mine out for hit chocolate (for them) before at Starbucks. I don't remember girls talking that much - maybe it's the sugar. Talking to dad about their life is a great idea.

I get an email whenever you post so I don't miss any.

:rotfl2:

I feel so special.

Mine must still be on the mule headed East. I'll wait by the mailbox.

I got tired of checking the mailbox. That is why Stitch is guarding it now.

The end to a long week. 700 miles and 47 hours. I've had a few beers (Landshark) and started the laundry. Found out that proposal I out together a couple weeks ago was partially accepted, and I get to quickly revise it Monday and get it quickly submitted for final meeting on Thursday. Going to go out and play basketball with dds and drink some more later.

Cool…
You’ll have to tell us how that works (and/or doesn’t work) for y’all.

8 1/2 and next November 10... My they grow up so fast... ;)

Grab hold…
It only starts getting faster form here.

Drinking more bourbon is always a good idea.

Yes it is…
I think I’ll go do that right now.

I tell my girls to never chase after a boy. The good ones will chase after them.

Yah, but the bad ones will chase after them even harder.
(and some of the good ones are a might shy)

If on the other hand they do the chasing (many, many years form now of course and that is the key point here),
then they are the ones that are in control.

Congrats on the proposal… hope that pans out.

Actually I had to read that a couple of times before I got the details because every time I started to read, it just ended up sounding like this:

“blabla bla bla blabla blabla bla blablabla and drink some more later”

Obviously I need to go get me a shot or three immediately (if not sooner).

Good grief the boards were on fire today. work got in the way of actually checking in and you guys light off several pages. I'll just fast-forward and catchup as i go.

Hello again, guys. I've seen some of you over on the boards at DISDads.com (GoofyDadDoug) and in the Facebook group, so I'm checking in here as well.

For those who haven't checked in over at DISDads in the past week or so, I'll share a bit about myself here as well.

My name is Doug, and I'm a 44 year old Disney geek from Virginia. My wife and I have 2 sons, ages 9 and 11 and we've been making trips to WDW since 2010. Although we've only had 3 full trips (and a single "adults" day mixed in there) I feel like we've been visiting for a lifetime as it simply feels like home. I'm usually either planning our next WDW trip, on a WDW trip, or convincing my wife that we need to start planning again! At all times, I'm browsing the latest information and looking deeper into the "World" as we know it. My wife is convinced that if my I.T. career ever dries up I'll have to try my hand at being a Disney travel agent as our friends and family usually call me with their WDW questions. I don't know it all, but I enjoy looking for the answers.

I'm glad to have found this group of dads, and I've enjoyed the chats and podcasts so far.

I'd like to 'make it official' and add my name to the list of dads - and see what number we're up to now, so if you would lay it on me.

Hope to see you guys here, there and at WDW in the near future.

Welcome Doug!

Welcome. Dues are payable in dole whips, beer, bacon, or cake. You mail them to me and I distribute to everyone (just not Jim).

You know, I've been around for several months and quite a few new members and have to receive any share of said dues. Not sure they are actually making out to the rest of the general membership.

I can't believe I'm actually posting this... but I just booked a trip to the World for Dec 8 - 13! I'm so stoked! I must have caught DW in a GOOD mood today :cool1:

Personally, I think this is the best time to visit!

Good news. Do you all have the "list" of girls that you get an exemption from because you are married? DW allowed me to add Shakira as my 'free pass'. Think I have a chance! :lmao:

Oh, the conversations after 13 years of marriage.

Good grief the boards were on fire today. work got in the way of actually checking in and you guys light off several pages. I'll just fast-forward and catchup as i go.

That's because it is Friday. Everyone gets to play at their computers and not do any work on Fridays around here.

!

I told Stitch, who is hiding in my mailbox, that the dues are supposed to go to me. He says that none have ever been mailed. I think CJ said he mailed me airplane tickets once. Never got here. Now, I know none of the DisDads are fibbing, so how do I defeat experiment 626?

Yah, but the bad ones will chase after them even harder.

True, but they don't listen to me anyway. I make them watch Judge Judy with me and I point out all the loser bad boys.

Maybe… One question?

What’s a “Shakira”?

…how do I defeat experiment 626?

Take him surfing

:lmao:
Not a bad strategy.
Not bad at all

Drink up.

One drink gone…
Halfway through the second.

My but I feel better.
