And before anyone asks, I got cans so I could have them on the pool deck.

Neither ran, nor snow, nor dark of night, nor monsoon can keep me away from donuts. DW liked the dunkin donut coffee blend so much that we now just buy their bags of coffee and use it in the home brewer. She found a big bag of it at Sam's Club last week, which makes it even cheaper. Now, if I can just get the daily donut to go with it.

I can see that as a rational reaction to not having donuts. Mission accomplished, I assume?

I've done beer runs in a blizzard. Seems a little desperate for a doughnut.

Was waiting to have that pastry since last night so not making a run was not an option. Dunkin's is about a half mile from my house and I pulled up about 5:05. Line was already at the drive-thru and I wanted to see what they had anyway so braved the storm. Plain croissant, two bavarian creams and a cruller purchased. Told DD she could have some but she passed. On a health kick. Win for me.

Since coming back from the UK, I am on this hot tea kick. Bought some real tea in London so had the croissant with black currant jam and one of the bavarian creams. Well worth the effort.

Lucky. I was stuck in a camp in rural Virginia many miles from the nearest hospital. All we had was a nurse who was able to determine I wasn't dying (which I was pretty certain I was). To make matters worse, even though I am an extremely happily married man it was hard not to notice that the nurse was smokin' hot. It's awkward enough when a health care professional asks about your bowel movements. The fact that she was very attractive and I was writhing in pain somehow made it way worse. But that's a story for another day..

Try keeping your dignity while having a colonoscopy and a cute little nurse is going to put about 400 gallons of sludge up your... well, you know.

Agreed. I would want 4 nights. I haven't done any of the research but I think she was looking at flying in to Barcelona and going from there to Greece, Italy and whatever else is close. I'm kind of interested in Eastern Europe but we haven't looked in to that yet. She's talking about a big ol' cruise ship. Not a river cruise like the Rhine although I've heard those are fantastic and darn near impossible to get sick on.

A Med or Baltic cruise would be something I would definitely do. Thinking about next summer's trip and I think we decided on a Caribbean cruise tied to a WDW trip. Right now we are looking at NCL over Disney. A lot less expensive.

Last Saturday, my family met Sean (DisDadIL) and his daughter at the local Renaissance Faire. They have lots of entertainment stages, games, rides, etc. But they also have characters walking around interacting with the guests. Our daughters saw this one in particular and got very excited:

Hmmm...wild red hair? Green dress? Carrying a bow and arrows? Heavy Scottish accent? It must be Merida!

...but it wasn't. And being that her character was from the 16th century, she had no idea what Brave was - or what a "movie" was for that matter. It was a hoot sitting there listening to these two girls recounting the entire story, plus trying to explain where they heard this grand tale!

Quick request for a little prayer for my dad. Been having trouble with his eye now cannot see out of it. They are not sure whether or not it'srelated to the chemo or his diabetes. It'll be basicly 6 weeks before they can address this, which is going to keep him from driving.
He's in a pretty low state right now, between the cancer and this. He just got a new trailer up north after almost 30 years, and a membership for golf and now is basicly grounded at home unable to use them. He's wondering what's next, and could use a little goodluck to comne his way. I know he'll get over this, but it;'s hard to see him like this. Thanks

Prayers for your dad Brent. I hope everything is better soon.

Today was the 1st day back to work after a 9 day vacation, as I expected the place fell apart, it seems no one really appreciates you till your not there for a few days, was only at work for 1/2 hour before the Boss offered overtime, hey it's getting hard to come by, so I'll grab it whenever it's offered:thumbsup2

Sounds like a new plan. Take more time off so you get more overtime when you get back. :rolleyes1

Good morning all.

Shouldn't have posted that pic, now I'm hungry for breakfast at Chef Mickey's. :sad2:

Have friends there now posting picks on Splash, PP and commenting on how much fun they are having. 36 days and counting. We have a Mickey waffle maker at home and bacon. Guess what's for dinner tonight now that I saw this pic.

‘Afternoon all…
Life got real hectic and I’ve missed being able to keep up over here for a few days.

I see we finally closed the old thread…
Congrats to Paul (nice picture too)

OK, geek time… I’ve got the Stats worked up for XXIII for those that are interested. I also figured that it was time to consider them a bit differently. Once a member of the DDC… always a member in good standing. That won’t change, but even still, times change, folks come and go and priorities get rearranged. It seemed to me that the general stats ought to reflect those changes in our worlds. So… I’ve added a new listing that reflects totals starting from the beginning of DDC-XXI (which dates back to summer of last year). I think it better reflects how the group currently interacts. The All-Time numbers are still here along with the other regular tables. If you can think of any other way that you’d like to see this useless data rearranged, holler out. I torture numbers for a living; I’m sure I can figure it out.

Anyway, here ya’ go…

Thanks for doing what you do Rob. I made it into the top 20. Woo-hoo!:cool1:

More important is that I am ahead of that guy from Florida that shall not be named that spends a lot of time in the Keys......You know who you are.

It isn't so much that they're discussing this particular topic (which is bad enough)&
Its that theyve put sixteen pages into the discussion thus far.
:sad2:

And, I love it when they takes sides of who is right and who is wrong. Over on the DVC threads, some will tell others they are incorrect in determining monetary benefit of DVC over next 30 years. I'm tempted to post - because you used yer time machine and travelled back in time with calculations - but they go cry baby to the mods.

The family board is scary.. And funny depending on how you look at it.

And sad. Probably, most of these people would be way to chicken hearted to even offer an opinion if you found them in person. But, they find their power in the anonymity of the chat room.

Was waiting to have that pastry since last night so not making a run was not an option. Dunkin's is about a half mile from my house and I pulled up about 5:05. Heard of the cronut? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cronut

Unfortunately, we are the last to get anything like this.

I use to have that plan as well, but then I had to go and get respectable.
That ruined all my grand plans.
:rotfl2:

Oh, I'm not respectable. DW just won't let me.

Mark if you ever have Kidney stones just be thankful Shari is no where near you to take you to the hospital...She will stop at EVERY red light and then drop you off at the front door while she goes to find a parking spot! :faint:

My first page ownage of this thread!

:lmao::rotfl2: At least you made it and she drove you. When I had a gall bladder attack at 2 in the morning all I got was, "let me know what they find out". Yup. Drove myself to the ER.

The DisDad vote was to know how to influence the presentation of the options to the family. Not that I would intentionally try to influence the vote, but I did notice a couple of dead relatives on the voter registration list. :)

Voter fraud is illegal.......Unless you live in Florida.....or the US......or anywhere else. I guess it's just expected at this point. Great Job maniuplating the vote. :thumbsup2

The last 2 days of work I must say have been interesting to say the least, I have found that at least 12 people have done my job while I was away, although it looks like nothing really got done, I only know that many people worked because the last 2 days they were coming up to me saying they worked X day and have no idea how I do it:lmao: I knew it was going to be a mess Thurs when I was at Busch Gardens and got a call from my Ice Cream vendor trying to find out how much IC we needed for this weeks sale:eek:

I've been giving everyone the countdown till my 2 week WDW trip, IMO since a 1 week vacation the place went to shambles, it would be wise to free up a couple of people to work with me the next 2 weeks so things run a little smoother, but what do I know:confused3:lmao:

At least they know they need you when you return. It's when those 12 people do your job and get it right that you have to worry. Why pay 1 person when you can have 12 do it.:lmao::lmao:

Couldn't sleep so I was going to eat the danish I bought yesterday. Ants got to it before I had a chance. Now off to Dunkin Donuts after waiting 45 minutes for it to open. Did I mention there is a monsoon outside right now?

No where did those ants come from.:rolleyes1

Morning guys! :coffee:

I guess lunch today is out?:worried:

Ack! 29 pages on this thread before I managed to drag myself out of lurking to post. I should really spend less time reading trip reports and more time posting. that and folks keep dragging me into debates on HuffPost :(

On the good news front, DW and I have our next trip to the World all worked out. Heading down this upcoming February during the first week. Got a great deal on an off-site suite at one of the Hiltons (ie: free room thanks to my father). DW also laid out the 'ground rules' for me... since her and DS don't care for some of the rides, and could really care less if they see fireworks/parades, they're going to ditch me in the parks and head back to the resort. I'm thinking I'll end up with a good bit of evening alone time for solo rides and events while still getting to experience Disney through DS's eyes during the day. Sounds rather win/win to me.

maybe you and Norm can convert to Mormon and get married. Sounds liek a perfect match.:rotfl2::rotfl2::lmao::lmao: JK

Every once in a while I venture onto the family board. Then I quickly remember why I stay away as much as possible.

The people whining about how hard a sit and stand stroller is to maneuver must have never tried to push a double stroller with two car seats hooked in along with a diaper bag and a day's worth of shopping bags from the Mall of America.

We won't even discuss this one.... :scared1:

It's kind of amazing the topics you can see over there. I try to stay away as well, but get pulled in on occasion. Usually not a good decision.

Agreed. That's a win-win. I am pretty sure that will never happen with me since DD would have to be dragged out by security before she left with me still in the parks. It is nice to know I'll always have my Disney buddy though.

She has made the challenge this year and insists she is going on ToT (she calls it the giant frog hopper ride).

I didn't think it was possibly to put "dignity" and "colonoscopy" in the same sentence.

DD had a hoop game last night against her cousin. From tip off, it was easy to tell that we had Laurel and Hardy refereeing the game. It was a good game for the first half with the good guys up 2 points at the break. Coach (that would be me) made the second half adjustments. Right away, we score 3 straight baskets to build the lead.........And that's when the referees decided the rules no longer applied to the other team. The rules state that you cannot press during the game and the defense needs to be man to man no double teaming. The other team decided to double the girl with the ball 3 straight times in the back court leading to 3 baskets. No matter how nicely the coach explained the rules, said referees seemed to feel that my player lost the ball dribbling and no such double teaming was taking place........another adjustment......Near the end of the game, my players were called for 2 offensive fouls while up 1 point and less than a minute left. They are 10 year old girls and don't even know what an offensive foul is. The with 13 seconds left it happened. The good guys up one point and waiting for the girl with the ball to cross half court. The girls gets near my defensive player and falls down. No contact at all on the play. Hardy blows his whistle and calls a foul. I remind you that there was not a player within a couple feet of this girl. Now they get 2 foul shots because we are now over the limit due to previous offensive fouls called. She hits one shot and ties the game and we go to overtime.

Overtime starts with opposing teams best player picking up her 5th foul 15 seconds in. She has to sit, right? Nope. No matter how many times I explain to Hardy that she is out of the game and has 5 fouls she is allowed to play.:furious: Up two with under 20 seconds left, said girl that is allowed to play even though fouled out knocks my player to the ground getting the rebound and then takes the ball and ties the game. Second overtime.

2 minute OT right guys. Well that's how it started. With 50 seconds gone in OT, the opposing team goes up 2 points. Timeout. The referees go over and talk. Second OT is only supposed to be 1 minute. They take a minute off the clock leaving us with 10 second to try to tie the game. Needless to say we lose by 2 in double OT.

I am proud of myself for setting a solid example and not getting tossed from the game. These guys get paid $40 to referee a 28 minute game. That's obnoxious that these people get paid and don't even know the rules of the game.

OK....Complaining over. I feel better now.

I have liked that Hannibal show, or at least the episodes I have seen. I would like to drop cable completely. We currently have the "basic" cable, which gives us local channels and a few others, and the Internet thru Time Warner. However, some of the local cable affiliates are not subscribing to the networks, so I had to get a digital converter box and antenna to get them. Thus, cable Fox had "Whose Line is it Anyway" and Digitial converter box had the All Star Game. :furious:

So cancelling cable has backfired. We've gotten some DVDs from the library and they've been watching them at home from time to time. I just got a call from my wife that the XBOX is not playing the DVDs no matter what disc they put in there. There's a decent chance they broke my xbox. There may be some yelling when I get home. No cable no xbox make Homer go crazy.:crazy2:

Yeah, just jump on in and post. What do you want to debate? I'll just pick the opposite opinion you have if you want. I know little about many topics.

maybe you and Norm can convert to Mormon and get married. Sounds liek a perfect match.:rotfl2::rotfl2::lmao::lmao: JK

Now, leave Rob, aka Stats, alone. He just has a parking spot outside CJ's house with Paul and I with the campers.

I put some cheese in the mail for you. :lmao:

Terrible break for your team. Kids need to learn how to play and learn the rules of the game at this age. Hate dealing with stupidity.

My deepest condolences for your XBOX. Fortunately, I had DVD player before I got the Wii, and then gave dds a DVD player for upstairs tv on sale last year for Christmas. Can you not get the tv channels? My TVs are so old that I had to get converter box, but they were like $25 at Walmart. I guess it might be another $25 if you have to get antenna.

I missed this! Today would have been tight anyways, unfortunately. My job is crazy right now, but we are going to get a lunch together soon. It has to happen! :thumbsup2

This heat wave up here has me thinking; We should make sure CJ puts in some additional electrical capacity so we can run a few AC units in the campers. :thumbsup2

I just booked The Penguin up close tour in Seaworld, maybe I'll find out what they are up to:lmao::thumbsup2

No rain, so it's still pretty nasty hot out there. Feels like Florida/August out there, so we'll buikd up an immunity to it for next month :rotfl2:

Made it to the pool. Reason for closure yesterday was people are putting on sunscreen then immediately goimg into water, before ot has tome to set, getting the water all cloudy, making it hard to see swimmers. It was nice to cool off for a bit.
