Good morning, gentlemen. I'm always reluctant to post in such a dynamic thread, for fear of throwing off the thread's momentum. My name is Anthony--Ant for short...never, ever Tony :furious:.

I just enjoyed my first trip to WDW as a dad last December (rented points for a 2BR at SSR for 10 days) and we're already planning for a late January 2015 return. We're discussing doing a split stay, with 5 days at a Treehouse Villa with my cousin and her son (possibly a Grand Villa, if my aunt & uncle come with her) and then we'll do 3-5 days a AKV in a Savannah view 2BR on our own.

Welcome Ant!:welcome::drinking1 Sadly, no dues ever leave Norm's mailbox. He keeps blaming Stitch, but I think he just uses the dues to stock up for the winter.

Winter%2012.png

:thumbsup2 I knew there had to be penguins in there somewhere.

Best I could do. No one was smart enough to do a video.

That looks pretty hot and fun for the kids. We had a bonfire a few weeks ago. Sadly, no pictures. Kids had a lot of fun. They made smores from 10 feet away the fire was so hot.:lmao::lmao:

Congratulations to Barry and Bambi! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Oh yeah, Wednesday is going to be rough after 11 days. Will need to savour tomorrow.

Just keep telling yourself it's all for the cause!

Tuesday. Not as bad as Monday but still needs more coffee to be bearable.

I do have a ticket from Friday, allegedly someone won the $30 Million...hmm:scratchin

I see the Powerball is getting pretty big. If it's still high, I might need to grab one while down there

We keep playing Powerball with little success. Will give it another go today. It would be nice for one of the Dads to win and buy us all a party house in Golden Oaks.

Hey guys! Where do I go to get a number? My name is Andre and I have 2 boys who are 4 and 7 years old! We are all going back to Disney this December! :)

Have a good day!

I see you have your number. Welcome Andre.

Disney Cruise Line: Behind the Magic is now playing on Destination Travel channel :goodvibes

We taped it. Saw it before, but were not home this evening. Now we have it on DVR so can watch it as required to keep the magic.

Howdy dads. I have been away from the boards for a week and y'all went and put up 20 pages. I read a few before I gave up and just skipped to the end. Welcome new dads
Sorry about the car Norm
Congrats on the planned trips
Prayers, bacon, yada yada, bacon,

Welcome back!

Just realized my ticker is wrong, should be good now. We are at 11 days till we hit the road for the drive to the world. Plan is all set for our off site stay. I have been using touring plans and built in a 3hr. break each day to go back to room for a nap and meal to save some money. But I still got all the attraction the girls wanted, and a good mix of meals

Fri & Sat. Drive time, should arrive sat around noon
Sun, putt-putt at winter wonderland, DTD, kitchen sink at beaches and cream
Mon, MK. Gastons tavern for lunch, dole whip, dinner at resort
Tue, Mk. Lunch at resort, dole whip, sleepy hollow (waffle sandwiches)
Wed, Ep, lunch at resort, dinner in world showcase depending on what we are in the mood for
Thur, HS, lunch and dinner at resort, brown derby just not in budget
Fri, AK. Tusker house breakfast(dad meet) packing a cold lunch since the park closes early
Sat,:sad: pack and check out

We are of site so I won't be able to take advantage of the magic + or magic bands, but I will do it the old fashion way. With a touring plan, lines app, fastpasses, wifi, smartphones, you know the good old days.
I will open up a trip report next week with photos of the pile of crap we bought this weekend
.

We are on site and no bands for us either. We can live through Brent.

Will be wearing either my black or yellow DisDads shirt on Friday morning to make it easier to find us. Looking forward to meeting up. I think we plan to hit Flame Tree for lunch. We usually grab 2 meals to spilt between the 4 of us. Eating light as we have Whispering Canyon ressies for dinner.

Good morning gents! Seeing all these trip plans is a nice way to start the day. We are counting down til our 7 month booking window for March trip - 9 days til we can book. Resort list in order of priority is BLT, BWV, BCV, WL. We are struggling with DD not being able to make this trip with us due to different spring break and wanting to do the college beach trip on her break. Have a good day Dads.

Like the plan, love the old school approach. Safe travels and enjoy.
Finally getting around to posting out plans for our January trip. All plans are tentative, but the ADRs are confirmed. Were following our customary schedule of trying to build up the magic by visiting our less favorite parks first. Were also planning on taking breaks in the day for Little Man to take a nap. Unless otherwise noted, breakfast will be in our room and lunch will be in the park we are visiting.
· Saturday Fly down and arrive late afternoon; check into BWV. Downtown Disney shopping, customary monorail ride around the World. Dinner at a BWV, BCV, or YC establishment.
· Sunday Animal Kingdom. Boat over to DTD for dinner at Ragland Road.
· Monday Pre-park opening breakfast at Magic Kingdom. Well do dinner at the resort or Ill walk over to Epcot for takeout.
· Tuesday Epcot. Via Napoli for dinner.
· Wednesday Chef Mickeys for breakfast then head over to DHS. Artist Point with friends for dinner (getting sitter for DS). Going to try and score reservations for California Grill when it reopens.
· Thursday Epcot. Biergarten for dinner.
· Friday Kona Café for breakfast. Well do dinner at the resort or Ill walk over to Epcot for takeout.
· Saturday Fly home and return to reality. Booo.
Nice plan, except for the Saturday Fly home part :sad1:
‘Morning all…
Interesting week down this way. We’re having some work done on the house and it’s tore all to heck. On top of that we trying to get everything sorted and packed up to haul my boy off to college in two more days. DW is not liking the notion of losing her baby and the general disaster that is now about three quarters of the house ain’t helping matters. On the up side, once we get back from throwing the boy out on his own, the ceiling and wall work should also be done and then I get to start painting…
Congrats to Max and can totally relate as our first, DD is off to college as well. We head out next Wednesday for move in on Thursday. Due to UTC on campus living being apartments, we have tons of crap building up. From dishes to lamps to garbage cans, etc :crazy2: Even DS is a bit sad about big sister heading out. I think it is more because he is stuck with mom and dad solo though :rotfl:

Flame Tree and Whispering Canyon on the same day???? :worship:

Enjoy your meat coma! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Good job summing it up actually...:rotfl2:

If my calculations are correct, might be able to cross paths on your Tuesday MK day, as it is a MK day for us too. Since we are crazy Canadians, we'll be there the whole day.

Of course it is subject to change, but here is what we decided over the weekend.

8/21 Arrival day and most likely MK in the evening for wishes
8/22 EPCOT...lunch at Via Napoli, Dinner at Chefs de France (DS is taking French in school)
8/23 AK, breakfast at Tusker (dad meet), Lunch at Flame Tree, dinner at Whispering Canyon.
8/24 Most likely MK for the day, late night ressie at BOG 9PM(going to try to get in a little early)
8/25 Happy BD to me! Discovery Cove, Dolphin swim and hotel/DTD in the evening.
8/26 Open day. Probably either MK or maybe to SeaWorld.
8/27 HS day, lunch at Sci-Fi
8/28 Open to whatever we missed or want to do again. Flight home at 6PM.

Hoping to find a good time to meet up. We will be hopping some so will find a time/place. Of course Aloha Isle might be a good spot.:rolleyes1

Morning guys! Hoping today won't be one of "those days" but started off with no Internet connection, so iPhone is all I got....

But at least I can say....

Looks like a good plan.

Man. Missed 15 pages. Too much to read. Work is getting in the way. Uhg.
So Prayers, Welcome, Sorry , hope all is well, Congrats, pass the bacon. I threw a pound in the fridge to fry up later. :):thumbsup2

On the upside, I am looking to Fri. First preseason fro Greenbay. Downside, apparently one of our o-line guys possibly blew his knee, Our kicker is in mid-season form (of missing) and we signed Vince Young for some reason. I know our back ups are not that good but really?

Anyways. On a bad/sad note, I had talked about doing an adults only trip to the world for our 10th next april (or around that time). Well with the economy, and work getting slim and hours and shifts being cut I made the sad decision there will not be a disney trip next year. We have too many possibilities that could happen that will not allow us to go.

So with that said i know have to figure out something to do for our 10th. I was hoping (and had started planning) for us to be at Disney World and make it a special trip and be our honeymoon as we never took one. So I am open to suggestions guys. What have you guys done and for any in and around WI, What are some good spots. (Not the Dells. She grew up there and it is overrated. It is a good family getaway but overrated) Was thinking possibly A trip to Door County as i hear it is very nice but not sure.

Let's see, our preseason getting going as well. I think we may have you beat. We released all of our receivers, Gronk of PUP, Hernandez in jail, Denert too dumb to stay out of trouble, Tebow (enough said!). No big injuries so far in camp (knock on wood).

Bummer on the shifts/hours being cut. Hope it gets better. Never been to WI so specifics I can't help with. For our 10th, we took a long weekend to a little B&B on cape cod. Basically just a couple of days of downtime without the kids. Got to relax and decompress. Our 17th is coming this October. We are thinking of going away for a weekend with wife's cousin. They are a week apart in age and got married a month (Oct. birthdays) before us so we can celebrate anniversaries and birthdays at the same time.

• Friday Kona Café for breakfast.

Mmmmmmm…
Kona

Good luck to Max (and mom and dad). :thumbsup2
Thanks! :thumbsup2 <=== Thumb

Have fun painting!!!! :rolleyes1
Thanks? :thumbsup2 <=== What do you think :lmao:

Standard Dorms at WCU so we don’t have quite as much to haul but we’ll still have to be creative when packing it into the car.

Tuesday. Not as bad as Monday but still needs more coffee to be bearable.

How are the crops doing? We have had some pretty nice weather up here with some rain once a week or so. The corn around here is excellent (nightly at our house, fresh from the farm daily) and the stalks are over 7-8 feet. They were laying out the fall corn maze this week at the farm near our house. Looks like a pretty good design this year.

Flame Tree and Whispering Canyon on the same day???? :worship:

Enjoy your meat coma! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

It will be a good day! Pictures will be posted.:banana:

Still having to rely on the phone gor Internet, no idea what the issue is, if I call the provider, they'll likely send someone next week and it'll go back running before that. Will just have to be patient and see how it all turns out. The only other issue is when I know stuff like this isn't working right, I go nuts until its fixed, I think I have a little OCD in me.

Not crazy- commando. Otherwise, you'll make Ron upset.

I can't plan things as well as Ron can, just a couple of bullet points for the day and see what happens.

When it comes down to it really, we're just too lazy to go all the way back to POP to rest and back. Just peppered the stay with half days and days off instead.

:

We had a similar weekend in CT with friends. Ds and I got through the latest KK book and I got some other reading done as well. Feel free to pick me up on the way. A few extra days would be nice. I'm very quiet and will be sure not to ask "are we there yet" too often.:lmao::lmao:

Heh, only problem is then we'd have to add at least ANOTHER day to drive up to you first...the plan is likely 77 down to 95 because I love that area.

Of course it is subject to change, but here is what we decided over the weekend.

We have two days to try, 22nd and the 24th since we are in the same parks those days, odds are good. The 22nd is our World Showcase focus day, and of course to make things difficult, we have lunch at Chefs and dinner at Via Napoli. Before lunch we hit soarin and sneak out around 6:15 for test track FP+. If all goes well, we hope to finally see Illuminations this time. We have later dining at Napoli (7:45) and if it goes smooth be out just in time to see it.

If for some reason we don't cross paths I should be getting out of BOG as you head up to it, so decent chances there too on the 24th. Going to see Wishes that night from the Plaza area from the FP+. Only thing for that day is the earliest I'll be to MK is around 4-5 pm, that is one of our half days. It was actually supposed to be a day off but it was the only day I scored a BOG ressie so moved things around.

A bit of a rough year for producers because of the weather, it has been consistently cooler and wetter than average. Downy mildew came in from Tennessee about 3 weeks early and is hurting cucumber production and we are waiting on a new race of downy mildew that should be infecting the pumpkins this week so producers have had extra fungicide costs. Tomatoes have done well and anyone that got their green beans in early did very well. Heirloom green beans in eastern KY will bring $50+ a bushel. Plenty of sweet corn, but producers were pushing for $6 a dozen and dropped to $5 and still can't sell it. Too many unemployed coal miners and loggers that can't justify 40 cents an ear for corn. Broccoli trial will be going in the ground next week if we can get the plastic laid before the rains come this week.

Sounds like you got a good little player there! My kids liked soccer, but we had our last soccer season last spring. Both dropped it for other sports. Good luck.
She's a good natural athlete. DS is more into swinging sports. He is dying to to go to the golf course.

I guess I'll just have to meet you down there.:sad2::sad2:

We should be getting out of Chefs de France for Illuminations as well. Can't remember if I sent it or not. I'll PM you my cell number and you can text me back so I have your contact. That way we can coordinate the meet up. We also plan to do some hopping around so there may be some other opportunities as well. The wife insists on spending as much time in MK as possible. DS is demanding EPCOT so we'll be flexible.

That stinks. The weather just doesn't want to cooperate does it? Prayers for mother nature to start cooperating. Up here the corn is around 50 cents an ear. We usually by half a dozen a day when we can get it farm fresh, which is about last week of July through early September. Anxiously awaiting apple season. Love heading to the farm for cider donuts, fresh apples and all the fall bounty has to offer. Good luck with the pumpkins. We need those for carving.:thumbsup2

We planted 2 venus fly traps yesterday.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

The corn is running a few weeks behind here. The corn stands are just popping up. They should have been up last week of July. They are selling it for between $5-6/a dozen. The guy we go to is $7 a "dozen." His dozen is how many they can stuff in a brown grocery bag, usually around 18-20.

Good luck to Max!

:rotfl2::lmao:

She's a good natural athlete. DS is more into swinging sports. He is dying to to go to the golf course.

DS is always up for a round of golf. And since baseball ended a few weeks ago has been trying to get me to take off work to go fishing as well. He is going flounder and striped bass fishing tomorrow with his grandfather. Looks like fresh fish for dinner tomorrow.:thumbsup2 Unfortunately I get to spend the day with the auditors.:sad2::mad:

Send some up here. $6 a dozen here at the farm we go to. It's really good though. Pretty sure it's the sugar and butter corn we get. Not sure if that's a specific type or if it's how it's cooked that makes it sugar and butter corn.

Well, if you're eating it and it tastes sweet, you're eating what I call sweet corn. Sugar and butter corn must be a regional term??? :confused3 I've never heard it called that before.

The company that sells us our field corn always gives us a some sweet corn to put out every year. We always plant a few acres, but not a whole lot. We just have it for our own use and to give some to friends and family. We don't even mess with trying to sell it because there are so many other people doing it that there just isn't much money in it to make it worthwhile unless you'd go large scale and produce a lot of sweet corn to sell to grocery stores, etc. And sweet corn just takes a lot of extra management and work.

My favorite variety is called Ambrosia and looks like this.

Damn, I was really hoping for a better year for everyone. Not in tune enough to kno how Canadian farmers are doing either

Mmm..I'll miss the drive to the trailer this year, buying corn at little stands along the way. We used to have big corn roasts in August up there. DW and I always get one at the CNE every year as well, but we will miss it too. They do have corn at Liberty Square still, right? That'll make up for it.

Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

I'll PM you mine and DW's, not yet sure I'll bring my phone with me into the parks.

Best we can do, aside from buying sim cards etc, is a plan that won't set us back much, but only gives us 50 minutes/200 texts and a tiny grab of data. Sucks, but roaming charges will KILL us, last time we drove it cost over over $300. As long as the WiFi is good, we can text. If it looks good, I'll drag my phone along. Most of our calling minutes are spent checking in on our dads, both in rough shape.

That looks like what is referred around here as "Peaches and Cream" corn...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm dip it in melted butter, toss a bit of salt, and enough black pepper to make it look burnt, and I'm there!
