I'd love to sign up! Glad I found this place, my wife, DD8 and DD10 are leaving for our FIRST ever trip to the world in December!! My job allows me to spend a lot of time reading and planning every detail of this trip. I'm guilty of reading this site while in my tree stand deer hunting! The whole family is in full Disney mode. Our kids think we are going in February and driving a motor home to Florida, they have NO idea we leave December 16th and staying until Christmas Eve. I would be proud to be a part of DIS Dads.

Paul

Welcome Paul!. Spending time on the Dis while in your tree stand... yeah you definitely sound like a disdad. You can also check us out on Disdads.com and in our private group on facebook.

Good call. To Ryan's point, I think the biggest thing in BLT's favor would be the extra years on the contract. :thumbsup2 We own at BLT and love it.

I'm assuming you mean renting the points for the week, rather than buying into DVC? If so, you're looking at 220-270 points for the week (assuming a 1 br), depending on resort and view. I think the average rate from a legit source is about $13/point, so you're looking at $2,900- $3500. That's decent compared to what you'd pay Disney for the same room.

Paul's numbers here are all basically what you'd pay on Dave's http://www.dvcrequest.com/ There is a points calculator on this site which allows you to pick your check in and check out date and resort and room and it shows you the number of points you'll need and how much it'd cost to rent them through Daves.

Thanks for the info, I've decided to buy 100 BLT resale, just have to find the right one
Awesome. That was our first DVC purchase too.

Welcome Paul , we are looking at a commando trip to the WORLD around the same time

Fighting the urge to just go lay down on the comfy sofa in the lounge. Only 2 more hours and my 53.75hr week is over. Then 4 more days to Disney, 3 of those have to work :(

But your on countdown so work should fly by. Have a great vacation!

Hey Chris! (ClearScreen)

Happy Birthday!

Looks like the car will be done maybe perhaps by Weds. She could be sitting in the driveway. They just have to paint the bumper and have it cure. They have to o the whole car in a light coat but looks good so far.

Well, WELCOME! Have fun surprising the girls!

Well it looks like I'm adopting the falcons as my team this season ( was my team before titans moved to town) but since it looks like Nashville doesn't have a team this season Go Falcons haha

Awesome news on the car. More importantly, how are you doing? Will your back be OK to pick it up for a test drive? Hope you are feeling better.

The first ever Dis Dad NFL meet. Thanks David.

And, it was a good game. And, they beat CJ's team. A great day.

I am still the same only had two visits. Trying to get approved for three-four a week. But pain or no pain I will be going for a ride on that day!

Good to see the progress on the car. How is yours?

I am new to DVC but I think there are 3 main differences between BLT points and OKW points. The annual maintenance fee on a per point basis was 5.20 for OKW and 4.22 for BLT. In this case BLT would cost you about $60 a year less than OKW. OKW points if they weren't extended expire in 2042 vs 2060 for BLT. Lastly when you buy points at a specific resort you get to book that resort at 11 months out vs 7 months out for all others. BLT is a harder resort to get reservations in so it can be better to buy points there if you plan on staying there.

We wound up buying points at BLT and SSR. SSR had the advantage of being relatively inexpensive on a ppt basis, having low annual fees and a 2054 expiration.

Some of the OKW Contracts were extended to 2057 and are available in the resale market. Not sure if they are available thru Disney or if dues changed.

DVC Question

Hey guys, we are running through some options for a trip next July. Could anyone tell me if buying points would be good idea and what the possible cost would be? I know it is different by resort but I just trying to get an idea. we are looking at July 9th to 16th right now with a split stay as being the most popular choice right now.

Buying or renting? Studio or 1 BR? How many trips a year? Which resort? There is also some extra form or something else you will need to do when buying DVC when you are in foreign country.

Well, take your nemesis to a NFL game was a success. The Colts won :littleangel: I'll let Norm post the pics :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2

Welcome. Dues are payable in dole whips, bacon, beer, or cake. You'll get a number shortly. I have two dds 10 & 8 as well. Driving in a motor home and hunting. I may need to recruit you when the other Paul and I take over CJ's house in Miami. We're parking and blocking campers or trailers in the front yard.

Hope it gets better soon. How long did they/ do you expect you'll be hurting?

There is no telling. They said due to xrays, I am right on the line of requiring surgery and not requiring it. I have to do all of my scheduled therapy.

I know I can ask this in DVC threads but I wanted to get DisDads thoughts ( smarter then the average bear) I put in a request for more info on a OKW resale for 60 point and it comes with 27 banked, for right now these points are perfect for me and DD. wanted to get thoughts on resale, restrictions and pros and cons and what's the difference in buying say 60 pts at OKW and 60 at BLT, I guess I'm thinking points are points, thank you all for any help

I'd love a Disney referral, but resale is the only way to go. You can get the points for half as much as Direct thru Disney costs. The main reason to go thru Direct is that you can use the points on cruises and adventure collection. But, a week in studio at BLT LV costs me over 100 points, and a 4 day cruise would have cost me over 300 points.

Some OKW contracts were extended to 2057. The other question is that would you be happy at OKW? The advantage to owning at one resort is the 11 month booking window. One of the OKW advantages is low amount of points, equal to SV at BWV, and a little mor than V at AKV Jambo.

Charlie and UL are having a great year and should be ranked higher. In two years we get a playoff and under that system they could/should be included. Don't want it to get any bigger than four teams because the regular season would get diluted. Can't wait for the NFL playoffs to get started so I can see two 8-8 teams play in the Wild Card game.

Glad we got him from FL. I think the college football playoff should be 8 teams, 1 each from the big BCS conferences and two at large. With the 4 teams, UL is still out. Maybe they wouldn't beat an Alabama, but since the games aren't played until a month later with new kids because the ones that got them there are no longer bowl eligible, it doesn't make sense either.

As for those terrible NFL Wild card teams, maybe the Giants wouldn't win Superbowls. Bad example.

Yeah, and Dolphins lost. You stink. :thumbsup2 not a thumb.

Yah, they told me I might be a candidate for back surgery if I would lose the weight. Maybe that's why I won't lose weight. I'm scared of surgery, and fortunately, I can get thru it with muscle relaxed and steroids. I just hope my family doc will keep prescribing when I need it.

.....Almost needed the extraction team today, party with hyper 8yr old girls...:scared: Amelia and her BFF stopped listening...oh the ride to the theater. :lmao: Frankenweeine was good though, I enjoyed it. Nice and quiet now, off to bed.
