Evening guys..been a good day. Today is DW's and my 12th anniversary, so we did the family thing. Took the girls to the Zoo to renew our Annual Passes and partook in the "Boo at the Zoo", lots of little Halloween fun. Afterwards my parents treated us to an awesome Roast Beef dinner with all the trimmings. NOw just enjoying downtime (Beautiful day it turned out, we stayed at Zoo longer then planned) wore ourselves out but good.

I rarely buy my own either...they just aren't ever avaialble unless you visit scalpers (ticket resellers for the politically correct here)

I have some friends with Season's tickets... normally I get about 1 game a year.

My company used to have golds, about 10 rows up from the ice... sadly that's just a memory now.

DW's boss had seasons tix, we'd buy a couple games a year from him, but that just got too $$. :headache: Dad used to land a lot of tickets off silent auctions, the Rotery auction etc. I got some through work connections (Molsons, Labatts) before the higher ups cracked down on it. My favorite moment was when the Labatts guy offered me two Leafs/Isles playoff tickets if I'd list 4 beers for him. I declined, I had better seats for the same game :rotfl2: The look on his face was PRICELESS!!!

Toronto Maple Leaf Fans are the MOST loyal fans in all sports.

Since the 1970's every single game has been sold out... They hold sport records for the most consecutive sellouts in ALL sports.

They just SUCK!

And THAT is why (as the discussion was yesterday) Toronto (or the Greater Toronto Area) needs another NHL team. So fans without seasons tickets or connections can actually get int to see a NHL game.
Those are loyal fans. I was talking about here. Miami fans (college and pro) suck.

Well, the problem though, is they ONLY cheer for the Leafs. Look at any GTA team in any other league. Marlies could do better, Brampton and Mississauga OHL fans are low. They should come out to any hockey, but I think only see Leafs as the only real hockey? Doesn't make a lick of sense. Media needs to treat all other sports as revelant as the Leafs...the Argos, the Rock, the Marlies etc.

Nice day and reasonably productive.

Awesome pictures...

Hope you feel better soon...

How many of your children have cell phones? DW said that on 5th grade class field trip earlier in the month, of about 75 kids, only 20 didn't have some type of phone, and many had iPhones. She is wanting to get oldest dd a cell phone with text plan for Christmas, which is $9.99 to add along with cheap phone. How about you all? When did your child (or plan to) get a cell phone?

Not for a long time, she is way too easily distracted and forgetfull now...

Yes another bills fan! And he knows my pain.

First 30 years of my life were spent in WNY except for a few times they let me out.

Wide right, wide right!

;)

Great photos CJ. Well done Norm.

Just waiting for the kids to finally fall asleep so I can crash. :faint:

Do they have Family plans with shared minutes?

I've thought that we would get a spare phone (not spart phone) that is part of a family plan, therefore we don't pay extra for it. And it stays in the house... if the kids go out to to a friends for the evening, they can take the phone ONLY to call home. Or if I have company from out of town, I can give them the phone to carry for the week.

You'd be better off getting a prepaid phone and locking the #'s available on it. If you add a phone to your family plan, you'll be paying anywhere from $5-$15 per month (depending on your plan) just to have it available. With prepaid you can put $10 on it and not pay until you use those minutes up.

Won our last regular season game, 2-0. No subs, so a long 50 minutes. Always glad to see the shut out. My dd got a ball kicked into her nose today - no blood - and after a momentary gasp and play stoppage - she kept playing.

I hope she is ok. Nice win!!

Not until High School... when they get a part time job.

:thumbsup2. Exactly. I am battling the "entitlement" attitude that they see other kids have. When we went to Disney last time we made them earn their souvenir money. Guess what?? They were a a little more hesitant about just buying any old toy.

They have friends who are in 3rd grade with phones and I think that is just ridiculous :crazy2:

I think the phone idea is a bed one, my ex gave my 3 1/2 year old an iPhone to play on and he whips around it like non other, when he plays on mine or DW we have to make sure he doesn't press the wrong button. He likes to try to make in App purchases.
So my vote is no phone till they can drive unless it is needed for some other food reason like to call and be picked up or long vacation away.

Morning Guys!

Had a very involved weekend. So many things had to get done, and many of them did not happen. Took the family to the eye doctor on Friday, turns out my youngest DD is almost blind in her left eye. So, she ended up with a prescription and 1 hour a day wearing an eye patch to make her brain start using her left eye. My oldest DD ended up with a new prescription as well, and after 4 yrs we finally got her new frames. Total Cost:$400. :scared:

We have to take the youngest back in 6 weeks to have another eye exam and the distinct possibility of new lenses... ouch.

Matt

Good morning fellow dads, I hope everyone's doing good, scared of this kids phone topic because I know that argument will come before I know it with DD, hopefully I will have a few years before its even thought of, DDs sister had one when she was 6 or 7 and I feel that's wayyyyy to soon

Morning Gents!

Half day in the office for me today. Middle school soccer district championships this afternoon.

Mourning all,

Long mourning before I get to sleep for work tonight.

Never good to hear that, I hope everything improves.

Have you tried any of the online places for frames and lens. I have a number of people who work with me that order online and they get fantastic deals.
