I'm not sure what they can request? :confused3 Under the Farm Bill any aid is pretty much spelled out. It isn't anything substantial either. Quite honestly, I wish the government would just stay the Beverly out of it, even though any help from them is much needed this year. In most years the farm program and crop insurance just reward half @$$ed farmers, IMO.

It's getting pretty close at this point. On some of the better ground, the corn is still hanging in there and doesn't look quite that bad. It will make something if we get some rain, but definitely nothing near normal. The short corn in this field is done, regardless. I saw a field on my way to work this morning that had a spot that has died completely and fallen over.

In the top picture, the green in the background is soybeans. They're still green and holding on, but have basically stopped growing. They should be about knee to waist high by now, but they really haven't grown any in a few weeks. They'll be below average, and are getting insect pressure, but they tend to respond well to rains in late July and August when they are blooming and filling pods. As long as they can stay alive and green and we get some rain during that time frame, they could save some farming operations. Otherwise, tractors and farmground in Indiana might be really cheap this winter.

So you're telling me there's a chance... Like I said, I hope the rains come.

Sounds doable... especially the no salad part. :scratchin

I like that part, too. :thumbsup2

By the way, congratulations James on the weight loss!

Yeah... just wait.

But don't worry, corn will be about $8, so those $&#* farmers are making all kinds of money. :headache:

Some people just have no idea how it works. Or where food actually comes from for that matter.

Welcome to my world! Ignorance will never stop people from complaining.

Hi, Mark! :wave2:

Still on for August 3rd?

Hi Doc! :wave2:

Absolutely! Just let me know what your plans are and we'll get the kale shakes ready. :thumbsup2

We landed in California. Today the kid is sleeping in a bit and then we hit Disneyland. Carthay Circle Theater for a late lunch and WoC tonight.

Did I not make it big enough?

Guess not... :confused3

We're going to try to leave CT by noon. Molly is at Girl Scout camp that week, so we're going to pick her up early. But I'll call you and let you know better later.

Can't wait to read this TR!!!

Are you going to get the light up ears to go along with WoC, CJ?

Those aren't waffles.

These are waffles!!!!!

Wow... normally returning from Hawaii would suck!

I'll take that return trip any day... :thumbsup2

Well, that's just a load of Peanut Butter. As I mentioned a while back, my group at work was (as of a few years ago) 5 people. Then 4, then 3, and as of Friday, we're down to 2 of us. A good friend left the company in search of greener pastures. (Sorry Andy, didn't mean to rub in the lack of rain.) We have been told that they will re-hire his position, but in the meantime it looks like me and the other guy are going to have to suck it up and work just a little extra harder for absolutely no more pay! :thumbsup2 <-not a thumb.

On the bright side, we had a nice little weekend getaway to visit DW's relatives. Stopped at the Disney Outlet store in Wisconsin Dells on the way home and picked up some $4.99 Mickey Mouse flip flops. So I have that going for me, which is nice.

I completely know how you feel. One of my co-workers mismanaged a program and he had it taken away from him and handed to me. It was almost a full time job for him, and it was in addition to my full time job as well. I did get .3% more of a raise, but...

Unfortunately, that's the way of the world now...

I guess it's a little more job security though... Doubt just 1 guy could do 5 jobs. :)

Nice score on the flip flops... Am I going to see you prancing around in them in August? (Actually, please no prancing) :lmao:

Very busy week here - along with work, the kids are doing a week of Summer Institute (a day camp program ran at the schools). Swimming lessons 2 nights this week after work.

Thursday is my sons birthday - we's going to be 8, and like good parents we won't be spending it with him. :(

DW and I are going to see War Horse Thursday night.

So the kids will be going to my parents, where they will take them out for a birthday dinner, and Ice Cream...

We will do a Birthday Barbecue on Sunday with family... (He had a birthday party with his school friends in June before everyone left for summer vacation).

Then Friday and Saturday we have some... I hate to use the word friends... but.... more of people we have gotten to know... but don't really like... coming from out of town for the weekend. :rotfl2:

Have to pretend to be interested and show them a good time here. :lmao:

Maybe I should take Norm's advice... and not do anything to prepare for them, maybe they'll leave!

I'll let you know how that all goes, as the weekend progresses.

Time to head out to work I guess...:crazy2:

Make the best of it, it could be worse....I think..

Brent, I swear to you with 100% honesty... I was going to invite you this weekend. After planning our menu for dinner, I thought you would get a kick out of it.

But I saw you post the other day you are going out of town this weekend.

I did mention it to DW, and she thought it would be a good idea.

Just wait to the weekend, and follow along, you'll understand. :thumbsup2

Where does one go to find these mythical greener pastures? :confused3

That sucks. Make sure you don't do such a good job covering for him that they decide a replacement isn't needed.

And nice score on the flip flops. Are you sure they weren't from the dalai lama?

I can't believe Scott is actually going to Canada.

I guess he really is on a mission to meet all the Disdads. :rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

Sorry, Barry. If/when the economy turns around, those greener pastures might suddenly become much more abundant. A lot of companies who put their employees in similar positions will be left holding the bag, I think.

I have full confidence in you, Brian. I've met up with several of the DisDads over the last couple of years, and they've all been really, really good at feigning interest! :thumbsup2:rotfl:

Acquaintances....yeah...that'll do. I can't believe you think we're friends?!?!?

:rotfl2:

It's sure to be Seth's best birthday ever....he doesn't have to be around you!!! :lmao:

I don't think I'd let Scott in my house. On the other hand, I don't think customs would let him over the border.
