I pulled a one day without cell phones, texts, etc... It was liberating.

It was a good trip though. I got out of my part of the mountains where you can't really see for more than 200 yards before you are looking at another mountain. I still need to get a good "holler" picture for everyone but here is a view from where I crossed into VA to visit the grower. Much less claustrophobic.

Now here is where you unplug. No 3G. No cell phone signal. Dirt roads.

You can make a few dozen (with the donut recipe, not bread...) and ship them to the DDC in January.

Just glaze. Not so secret recipe. Little butter, little water, lots of powdered sugar.

Even with the wrong recipe and the dds rolling them in whatever shape they thought constituted a real donut, they were quite yummy.

One more step to retirement, turns out one of my son's friends in karate went to high school with me ( year ahead) who knows my nature, who also wants to retire by 50 (44now) that brings me up to 4 partners, in fact something that would be considered by most as dumb, we will most likely be putting in a bid on this week ( if it actually pays off we could almost get 1000 shares of Dis stock for a $250 investment by the end of the year, but buying Dis in Feb or Mar) Even if we only can get half it's all about pink to blue, but the big plan is to build, profit ,and keep building and sell off within 3yrs before everyone else tries to copy and retire

Evening, dads!

The heat finally broke today - it's under 80 for the first time in days, and it feels so much better. No rain in sight, but the grass will stop smoldering during the day, and bursting into open flame at random intervals.

Spent part of the morning playing pool with the brother-in-law, then the afternoon at a game store, and then just got back from seeing the new Spider-Man movie. I'm going to call it a good day. But I think I will have a beer, just in case.

Hope everyone else is finally getting to cool off, and is having a good weekend!

Yeah it was great, nothing to interrupt family time!!! I loved it.

Next saturday we head up to the cabin for a week, with no real access. DW will have her smartphone, which will be good if I want the weather updates, but reception there is a bit spotty. Other then that, nothing. TV will be restricted to DVDs only, since you cannot broadcast unless it's digital now, just as well though.
