a bunch of catching up to do...

Dude. You scared me for a second. Still, half-finished Coronas should be illegal.

Sorry, didn't mean to scare anyone. :rotfl:

The talk about Victoria and Albert's has me thinking about it again. DW and I have talked about it - I want to find a way to go whole hog, and do the private table, plus wine. She's not so keen on the idea, but some of it might come from the double-whammy of having to have someone watch the kids, and using precious luggage room for nice attire that we would not otherwise have to wear at WDW. Someday however. . . .someday.

My experience was before we got married, and before any kids. Hence the room in the luggage for something nice to wear. But hey, you could always rent something.

Or maybe we could set up a jacket exchange... just like the stroller and fridge swaps on the board.

Someone needs to pay, call CSI right away.

Gary Sinise is on the case.

Better than being dehydrated.

I'm a big seafood fan. I'm sure whatever they do will be great. If I ever get there ...

:lmao: What were they thinking? The horror. The crime.

1. YES.
2. You will get there. Stay Positive. (If not, I'll go there for you and then tell you all about it.)
3. I have no idea. Kids these days.

Back from OH and see I missed a lot of pages, but a random sample showed pictures of poutine and beer so I will pass and just jump back in.

Hope all the dads made out OK with the storm that went through. I had a large limb bust the roof on my storage shed so repairing that is on the list for the next trip to OH. Unfortunately the rest of the tree didn't come down as well. It is a silver maple I can't stand but can't afford to have taken down either. No power for about 24 hours either but considering they were originally saying 5-7 days I'm happy.

I got to see my parents as well when we picked up the kids from them. They have reached the stage where they are aging quickly so we need to make it a priority to get up to NY more frequently. This was the first time I really say my grandfather's face on my dad. :sad1: Make an effort to spend time with those you love because the years pass all too quickly.

New heat records for this part of KY and many crops are looking bad. I saw some nice corn in OH where they have the ability to irrigate and some that was rolled pretty severely. I heard of some guys chopping for silage and replanting there as well because it was tasseling about waist high. Nothing to loose by replanting other than some seed cost since the chemical and fertilizers are still there. Corn prices should be good if they have any to sell because drought stress at silking will decrease yields up to 50%. Expect a food price jump as well unless South America has a good crop later.

On that cheery note I think I will go have a cold glass of wine and some smoked whitefish for dinner.

glad you got to spend some time with your parents. Keeping fingers crossed that things will get better for the midwest and anyone else growing our food.

:scared1:

Hope everyone is safe... Crazy world! The Corona killer WILL BE BACK!

Enjoy TS2 - would love to see pics of the Milkshakes... ;)

Milkshakes did not turn out the way I planned. Only had gel food coloring at the store, and adding it to the ice cream and milk in the blender did not make them green... had to improvise. pics to come.

Well, looks like the AC stopped working. So, I turned it off I hopes that it just froze itself, but I doubt that is it. Fortunately, it looks like rain may be headed towards the area which may cool us off. Otherwise, it will be a hot one tonite. We are going to 5:30 PM mass and will be praying for the AC to start working again. Wonder how busy the HVAC people will be tomorrow?

:scared1:

Well, as I type I'm sitting down in our basement during a tornado warning. Hailing now. Praying we don't get the bad stuff.

:scared1:

Dinner is served!! Patting myself on the back!!

:thumbsup2

Looks like we're almost out of the woods here. Haven't had a chance to assess the damage, but it's being reported that our town has some wind damage.

glad to hear this.

I'll take the cold. I can always toss on another layer of clothes, but there hits a certain point where I can't take anything else off and still wander around town. :rotfl:

+1 Always easier to add layers then trying to get rid of them!!

My back is starting to get to me slugged over 5 tons of ice bag by bag into ice chests this weekend, I bet the guys at the gym can't say they lifted 5 tons this weekend:lmao:, Not bad for a middle aged bloke:rolleyes1, but it's only the beginning , by next Sunday I'll probably go through at least another 10 - 12 tons:scared1:probably sometime the week after a visit to the Doc will be in order:sick:

ouch. lift with the legs.

Had a nice, long weekend at my MiL's house to celebrate her 70th birthday. We left early Thursday afternoon, and I got home yesterday afternoon. DW decided to stay there for about a week or two, so I get to be a bachelor again for a little while (perhaps my last chance til the little ones arrive). Unfortunately, I don't quite have enough money to enjoy it as much as I would like.

However, as of yesterday, I've been starting to pick up some private lessons to help offset DW not working. If everything goes as planned, it should help out a bit.

As for the weather, it's been a bit warm, though not as bad as in the states, it seems. But, this nice weather isn't going to last for long. According to the 10-day forecast on weather.com, from Thursday on we are to expect scattered thunderstorms. Rainy season is about to start, and will last for the majority of July.

happy birthday to the MIL. Congrats on the bachelor time, enjoy it! Stay dry.

Morning Dads,

So this past weekend the wife told me that the air was out in her Santa Fe. Ok, its 5 yrs old, no big deal. Got some 134a and easy fix. I put the connection on the low side and it immediately spikes all the way to the right. hmmm. Ok, disconnect and try again. Same thing. OK, disconnect and make sure no dirt is in the connector. Same thing again. Well Beverly. Does anyone have any recommendations other than take it to the shop?

Woke up this morning for work, look at my watch, I should have left 5 minutes ago. Oh yes, it is Monday.

Matt

I got nothing for you. hope you were able to get it going again.

Monday morning again. 3/4" of rain yesterday. Not enough to help the soil moisture deficit, but enough to get the weeds growing again. Two days back in KY then north to fix my shed and get a crown repaired and back to KY on Friday. I think I need to learn to like life on the road.

darn weeds. don't they know the water is not for them?

Morning Gents.

Since yesterday was a holiday we get today off.:banana:

Now this is how a Monday should be.

hope you enjoyed your day off!

Mornin' guys and happy Monday....:headache:

Lots of trees and debris down on my drive in to work this morning.

Saw one big maple tree - probably 75 foot tall and 4 foot around - sitting right in the middle of a house and a huge branch on top of the car in the drive way.

Needless to say - that house is totaled. Thankfully, according to the news, no one was home at the time.

But, today the sun is back out and we're on our way back up into the 90's and appear to be in the 90's for the next week.

Is it fall yet?? :confused3

wow. can't imagine. at least no one was hurt.

I have to say I envey alot of you dads how do you guys juggle
LIFE , Family , and Disdads here and on FB , I have to say it is easy for me to go on FB then here because it is in my phone , and i will say im not the smatest with technology but you gus wow how i see you guys on both just amazes me ?????
Please allmighty Yoda's help me learn the force so i can be a jedi knight some day !!!

Juggling is difficult, but even harder is picking up the ones you drop without anyone noticing.

Some good news this Monday morning. AC back on at home. Netbook working again. Ownage.

congrats!

Except I can't see Facebook at work because of the stupid firewall. It's like they actually want us to work or something. :confused3

:scared1:

Days like this, I love my "job." I'm sitting in the library, using the free wireless, while my kids looks for books and play on the computers. Being a SAHD does have its moments - and I use a lot of them to hang out on the DIS.

Oh, and trying to take over the Tri-state area.

My kids don't let me get on the computer as much as I'd like to. Makes me wish I had a job to go to where I could get on the computer.

Well, the network was down at work for the first 2 hours this AM, so I posted here and listened to ESPN Radio Mike n Mike and Cowherd. Thankful for my Windows phone. Network running around 10, and now I have all my work done for the day. I even got my self-evaluation completed, 15 questions of drivel that no one reads or won't get me anymore money. Actually, I copied/pasted most from last year - I wonder if the boss will notice.

Time to go home. Later.

is your boss on the boards??? I thought DW didn't look to see what I posted in here.... boy, was I wrong.

hi hunny!

What we do to sacrifice for others.

Sitting right now in our cabana. This is too cool. Water, fridge, TV, couch and lounge chairs. NCIS is on right now. Cocktails in a bit.

My life doesn't suck.

by making the above statement, you give up any and all rights to complain about anything... ever! :lmao:

Well hello there!!

I'm on the new app and finding it much easier to access the boards and comment from my iPad and iPhone, so here I am. :wave2:

Plus I have had the weekend off. Had some friends over and just got back from a boat ride out on the lake, we went for a swim and had BBQ on the neighbors boat.

sounds like a good weekend!

Good day. Saw Amelia off to her grandparents for two weeks, then took Audrey to the pool. Man, was it crowded, it hit capacity at one point. Afterwards put some movies on to watch, Despicable Me, and The Muppets. Finished off the long weekend with a great dinner: Grilled steak, potatoes roasted in garlic, onion and butter, and grilled bell peppers, with peanut butter cup ice cream. All and all a good weekend.

another good weekend!!

Did anyone see the article in the WDW news section, where a father kicked his son in the face at Epcot:scared1:, If this guy tries to join DDC I'm sure that everyone would feel the same way that membership would be denied, man card revoked, and should not be allowed to be a dad, this is just sad that someone would do this:mad: To top it off the guy's a doctor

not a good weekend for that family. :scared1:

Hello friends - long time no visit.

Life has been very, very, very busy. In the midst of Scouting's zenith right now with all of the summer-time activities. Just got back recently from Summer Camp, where I took 104 youth and 46 full-week adults, plus another 8 partial week adults. We have an amazing Troop. Coordinating it all is very much like bringing in a small army... but I LOVE doing it!

The business continues to grow, even if it is a bit slowly right now. Several new clients looking at cruises and other vacations into 2013 now, so that's good news for the pipeline. The referrals continue to come in as well. The FB page continues to grow in size, having just recently surpassed 300 likes, and the blog is creeping along getting new subscribers. I continue to add new content to my website, as it's grown to over 60 pages of info now. It's getting a bit more difficult to maintain personally. Soon I'm hoping to turn it over to an actual webmaster. I'm in 2 different networking groups, and after many months they are finally starting to pay off... that whole trust thing is important, and now that I'm regular and known and trusted, the group members are beginning to refer folks my way. I also have a couple of big new paid ads that I've placed in publications recently that are starting to generate... both have an 8-10 month lifespan, so hopefully they will reap the desired dividends. And I'm working hard to hopefully be in print in the next 3-5 months, but hopefully less time than that. I'll let you know when that time comes.

We are heading south in just 12 days now. Can't wait to be there once again... even if it will be hot and sticky. (Doing Florida in the summer has NEVER been something we enjoy... but it's the only week in the entire summer when the entire family would be together... so why not be hot there instead of hot here?) We'll be at AKV - Kidani. :cool2: No parks this trip - just the pool, the resort, some mini-golf perhaps, boating, Hoop Dee Doo is on the short list, or Cirque du Soleil... we're still debating.

I haven't spent much time on here in the past couple of months - hardly at all honestly. But for those of you on FB, I do keep up and watch what's going on in your posts. I hope the rest of you that aren't on FB are well.

Take care friends. I'll try to pop back in before we leave for Florida...

Oh yes - and Happy Independence Day! ( a tad early).

Hey Stopher! Glad to hear things are going well. Wish you continued success!!

Hope everyone is staying cool - it's well past nightfall, and it is still nasty out there.

Two random thoughts for the night - when BIL and I go beer shopping, we buy some odd beers (and a lot of them). Second random thought - when my kids are complaining when I am mixing a drink, I pour in a lot more alcohol than I might otherwise.

I think that also applies to when significant others are complaining. :rolleyes1

For me there's only one spot to watch the parade, between the shooting gallery & country bears, most likely you will even be able to sit at bench height if you get a spot near a tree right at the rope:thumbsup2, less crowed better interaction, plus it's darker there so the floats really pop:banana:

We've watched the parades from all over, but "our spot" is right across from the Liberty Tree tavern. That whole area is less crowded and you can usually find a good spot. The one caveat to our spot is that you need to know which direction the parade is coming from so you can position yourself on the right side of the bend in the path. If you do that, then you usually have a great sight-line of the parade as it comes at you, because the people sitting next to you end up being slightly behind you as well.

Bottom Line: "You mess with a Disney Dad, you get the ears!"

:thumbsup2

all caught up. home from work and ready to crash. I have tomorrow off and working early in the morning on the 4th.

DS took a tumble down the stairs today. We got a little lax with keeping an eye on him going up and down. He's been so good with getting himself around and then today, he got to the top, sat down, and leaned a bit too far and right in front of my eyes, down he went. Most horrifying couple of heartbeats I've had since I saw DD fall headfirst into the stairs. But he seemed to be okay.

haven't gotten to use the new disboard app aside from the one post, but seems much better option than using my phone's browser.

loving the stitcher radio app. listened to a bunch of the podcasts over the last couple of days. the blue sky DHS one really had me wanting to have been a part of that discussion. Keep up the good work Aaron, and everyone that makes those happen!

here's some pics of our latest theme night... starting with the decor (had to dig out some of the stuff from DD's 4th birthday party.

Stopher: Nice hearing from you again... come back anytime. :thumbsup2

Chris: As Ron said, the only day we overlap seems to be the DHS day (Just running out now, I will post my full itenrary later (maybe even start a PTR).

Mike: Excellent Job on the TS movie night.

Scott: Glad you made it through the storms safely

All other dads....

GOOD MORNING!

Morning Gents!

It's Tuesday, congratulations to everyone for making it through Monday.

Good to see you around Nick! Did you find someone you trust to run the restaurant while you're gone or did you shut down for vacation?

Great job with the decoration and food, but ummm...this one is a bit disturbing. You're eating their children?

Two hours til I go see Spidey. Not as excited about this one as Avengers, but most reviews have been good.:charac4:

I'm still trying to figure out why we needed another version of that story. :confused3

Hello friends - long time no visit.

Hey Stopher! :wave2:

Glad to hear the business is growing, even if it's a little slower than you'd hoped. I hope things continue to develop.

Are you guys still leaving AKV on July 21st? Just checking to see if you'll be around in the evening...:rolleyes1
