hey guys...

still waiting on the surgery. They pushed me back until 330 this afternoon. Just want it over with at this point.

A coworker and next door office person got fired today. Morale got a bit lower.

Hello everyone.

Hello stranger. Great work on the Disney brackets. Are we jumping to a final four or play out each matchup?

Norm, sorry your girl is still ailing. Hope you get into the regular pediatrician soon.

DW got her in today. He ordered blood work but thinks it is a virus and says there is no treatment and to just let it run thru her system, including spiking fevers. This doesn't sound right to me.

We're on our way to the Magic Kingdom. For your safety, please remain seated or if you're standing, firmly grasp the safety bars.

Wish I could hear that on monorail now.

let's not get started on doctors today.

Hello everyone.
Hi Nate!:wave2:

Just coming up for air long enough to say Happy Birthday to David.

Now, time to get back to work. :headache:
That doesn't sound like fun. My boss is on vacation the rest of the week. I think I'll take a little time off myself. :rolleyes1

Hey fellas!

Back at work (:headache:) today after a few days in New England. Got to see the Baseball Hall of Fame and then hang out in Stowe, Vermont for a few days. Beautiful area, great time relaxing with family. Didn't want to come back.

We stopped in CT for lunch with Chris (DisDadDoc) and family on the way back, and had a great time.

Now back to work...Bleh.

Oh, and Happy Birthday David!
Welcome back Mark! I love Cooperstown and need to get back there one of these days.

Well done. :thumbsup2 Sounds like a good workout; I find treadmill running to be much harder than running outside.
It's not harder for me - just more boring. To easy to glance down at the readout, realize that you haven't gone all that far, get frustrated and quit. So I mounted a shelf above my treadmill so I can put my laptop up there and watch movies. It helps pass the time pretty well.

A coworker and next door office person got fired today. Morale got a bit lower.
Uh oh. Like "laid off" fired, or "they got caught with their hand in the cookie jar" fried. Either way, I can certainly see how it would affect morale.

Hope your DD starts feeling better soon!

It hasn't been fun. Our grain accountant is on vacation this week and we're in wheat harvest here. I've been doing my job and hers the past few days because I'm starting to question whether our boss even knows how to check his e-mail and answer the phone anymore. Finally got caught up after lunch so I've got about a half hour to relax now before I have to start working on end of day stuff. :headache:

Well just got back from ER with eldest son.Left side of his face went numb and started drooping. Needed to take him to make sure wasn't a stroke. Well the good news is it wasn't.It is bells palsy.I guess I can take that as good news.
I need a Disney fix

Sorry to hear that Carl. Do they have medicine they will put him on for it? I hope he can recover from it quickly.

Sorry, Norm. Hang in there.

We just got asked to take an Employee Morale survey today. There was a follow-up e-mail from the Chief Engineer that basically said, "Fill this morale survey out, OR ELSE!"

That about sums it up.

If it is a virus, you can only treat the symptoms. Hope she feels better soon.

Sorry, Carl. What's the treatment? Will he be ok?

Never good but hopefully it was a financial issue so they can get a good reference rather than a quality of work issue.

Carl, prayers for your son.

Good news. DW took child back and regular pediatrician saw her and insisted it was a virus, supporting the other doctor. Thankfully, DW protested. I know that there are worries about MRSA and resistance to antibiotics, but the last time she saw him other than for physical exam was last August when she had bronchitis. The Dr agreed for lab work and called this afternoon that white blood count was off and prescribed an antibiotic. I know doctors are smart, but sometimes, parents know when their children are sick and need something more. I'm just ticked that we had to wait this long before she had any treatment. I'm not really the lawsuit type, but I really want to go kick the first doc's Beverly. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Hopefully, she'll get better soon.

Not really sure. Neither side is talking; however the rumor mill is that she made one of the super high top dogs mad. We don't handle any money, but there could be a lying on time sheet or travel voucher. It couldn't be travel as that involves travel to other cities and too many hotels, people, etc involved. I guess she could have lied on time sheet, but with boss 200 miles away, that's real difficult to prove.

Sorry, Norm. Hang in there.

?

I hear that too Mark, but viruses are treated all the time - HIV, RSV, pneumonia, etc. are treated with medications. They don't send them home and say good luck.

Never good but hopefully it was a financial issue so they can get a good reference rather than a quality of work issue.
.

She is a divorced mom with a 15 year old boy in high school. I'm not saying it wasn't deserved, but just really stinks. With the fiscal year ending, there are always threats of budget saving measures.

Sorry to hear about your son, but glad they have a diagnosis. While I have heard of this before, I do not know the treatment regimen, but at least there is a starting point.

Hi guys :cool1:

Thanks for all of the birthday wishes. Went to Logan's tonight. It was pretty good.

Norm, I hope your DD gets better. My girls were very concerned when they heard she was not feeling well.

Drives me nuts how some doctors will go to any length just to prove their beliefs. I guarantee that whatever the blood test results, this guy will interpret them to fit his (almost certainly incorrect) belief that viruses cause most sinus-type infections. I understand that you want to limit antibiotic use, but it certainly sounds like your daughter has crossed that threshold! Good luck and hang in there. You have my sympathies.

The good news is that within the next 5-10 years, there will be incredible changes to how we diagnose infections. The idea that we are still using the same culture strategies for the last 50+ years is insane. Who's to say that the organism that grows in a culture is the actual infection? Nothing is sterile in the human body and there are little microorganisms growing everywhere. What's the odds that the organism that grew in the culture is the actual pathogen when there are literally dozens of organisms in the human sinus & respiratory tract? Fair at best and highly dependent on who takes and runs the culture. The research into genetic testing of the human "biome" is amazing. The results these guys are getting is unbelievable and I expect we'll all benefit very quickly given the rate of increase in the clinical uses. These guys can take a sample and give you the composition, amount, and percentage of each organism very exactly. Then, they can track when a new organism or one of the "old" colonized organisms, starts growing out of proportion to what it should. Amazing stuff. Hopefully will eliminate some of this BS that a lot of parents are going through.

Morning Guys!

Happy Birthday David!

My surgery got pushed back to 1, so now its a light breakfast and very little coffee, not a good combination for anyone traveling with me.

Matt

Good luck today, Matt!

Carl....sorry to hear about your son. I too, have gone through that same scare. I woke up one morning with a droopy face...went to the ER to rule out stroke and also was diagnosed with bells palsy.

Thankfully, mine was mild and corrected itself in a few weeks.

Hope he gets better real soon! :thumbsup2

Glad to see the Heat decided to show up the 2nd quarter.

Thanks Dave. Isn't it amazing how one meeting can stick with children.

Sounds like Star Trek has had a great influence on us - cell phones and medical scanners.
