this one on pace to be destroyed by the weekend.:rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

It's possible. But perhaps not. Many weekends have been full of activity, while still others get very quiet in here as the boys go out and do stuff with their families. Work days tend to be the busiest for some reason :rolleyes1

I may need to go to the library at school to "study" that day. Really focus on my studies. She may buy that one.

This caught my eye… I dwell is a similar but darker cave.
I do hope that things start looking up in the near, but consider this…

Our pension plan was scrapped years ago.
Bonuses ended in 2002…
Merit increases have been suspended since 2005…
I took a 22% decrease in 2006 to remain employed.
The last cost of living adjustment was in 2007…
401k contributions are no longer matched…
Dental insurance is now 100% on employees…
Medical insurance goes up about 8% annually…
My profession has been moved to India, so comparable jobs are scarce…
What comparable jobs do exist are hiring in at about 48% of my current salary…
Being just shy of 50… I’m too old to be hired by said comparable employers
(age discrimination does exist… do even try to tell me it don’t)

Our employee level was over 45,000 ten years ago and it’s down to beneath 2,000 now, so I am one of the very lucky ones here (and we’ll be closing more operations this year)

Want to trade?

A much bigger darker cave.

No thank you. I will keep our petty company of unagreements.

Our company here in WI was only 140 ppl in 2008. We are producing more with our current staff of 100 then we did in 2008. We have picked it up. The other comp. has maintained a downward run since we have owned them and yet they have had very little cutbacks. The management doesn't seem to want to do anything to change the ways of the other company. We have the marketing in our company, yet the other company is creating new products and letting nobody here know. We own them yet the ads they have been sending (again not through us) do not mention us at all.

We have eaten at (almost) every character meal in WDW. What characters does your DD like? Are you using the DDP? You thinking breakfasts or dinners?

We had a hilarious experience at 1900PF breakfast back in 2009 with my DD. Basically Pooh and the Mad Hatter were fighting with each other. These are the 'unadvertised' things that make character meals so fun! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Something we saw at our CP breakfast. A family was seated. My wife asked me if he was a disdad because he was wearing a tshirt that had mickey on it and said Disney dad. I told her i didn't think as it said Disney and not just Dis. Then my guess was reaffirmed. Pooh walked up to the table, (the family had two children looked to be about 3 and 1), The Dad jumped up and told pooh to move along they wanted to sit and eat. :scared1: I was shocked. When i saw that I told my wife, that definitely isn't a disdad. The didn't get to see Pooh.

Some coordination will be necessary. Let's assume it gets to 270 pages, to be safe. That's 4,050 posts, or an average of just under 169 an hour.

Given that the very early morning hours, and late night hours will be undermanned, we're going to need a large push mid day.

We can do it, no question, but we should be prepared for it. :thumbsup2

True. And the highest concentration comes from the Eastern Time Zone. We would want to make sure our Central and western guys participate as well. That helps stretch out the day a bit. Of course we could start with the boys in the Asian countries, since their Leap Day starts before ours does, but would that "skew" things, or not?

If it's a Special Thread for Leap Day Shut down, we really don't need Don to set it up. Somebody can just set it up.

So, a few questions,

1. Who sets it up?

2. When is it set up? Sure midnight, but who's midnight, Casey's?

3. Does this thread count for number of post, last to post, or any of the other silly things we track?

That's all I got for now.

I think that it should be a special thread. And yes, Don should set it up. But I don't think he'd need to put all of the same stuff on page 1 that he normally does - perhaps the first one or two to establish the link with the main threads.

I just posed that same question about the when a moment ago.

I do believe that the post count on a special thread should count just the same as any other thread. It's still part of the DDC - just a special version of it. After all, the same guys will post, so why not give them credit for it?

Oh, so that's where the thread went...

On a somber note I visited one of my best friends and fishing buddy today. He just had back surgery, but something else was "off". They found a large tumor growing out of his right lung into his shoulder and pretty sure it's spread to liver and bones. This man (old enough to be my grandfather, but he's one of the guys) has been a rock in our little fishing group for well over a decade. I've spent hours and hours and days and days in a boat with him...

I've seen this movie before, I know what lies ahead and I know there ain't a darn thing I can do about. I do know one thing, that was only the shell of the man I know and love in that chair today...:sad1:

Thanks for letting me vent

I'm so sorry for your friend, and for the emotional blowback you're getting from his illness. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers.

Sicker than a dog right now. Guess going from 85 degrees to 32 without a jacket was a bad idea. Did the podcast last night high on cold stuff. Have no idea what I talked about or if I made any sense. All I kept thinking was SQUIRREL!

Have a good day guys.

I was counting. You only actually said "SQUIRREL!" two, maybe three times, tops.

I know we don't go to disney for another 11 months but what is everyone's favorite character dining? My 3 yr old loved the characters last time so we are looking to do more of these.

We like the Akershus Princess Breakfast: Good food, lots of princesses for the girls, and getting in there early puts me in good position to sprint over for Soarin' Fastpasses.
Also, Crystal Palace is good. Both my girls went crazy over the Winnie-the-Pooh characters, even though they hadn't had a lot of experience with them. Maybe it's just a hardwired thing for kids.
Another good pick is Tusker House for breakfast or lunch. They have characters both dining sessions, now, and both meals I really like.
1900 Park Fare is good if only for the Stepsisters. They are an absolute hoot.

BTW... Good Morning, Everyone!!

question of the day: I finally started getting paychecks from my new job, and they are overpaying me. I am getting paid more than I was told I would. Do I:

A. bring it to their attention.
B. shut my mouth and spend the money.
C. put the extra money aside with the expectation of having to give it all back.

Just like everyone else has said, (A). My biggest concern in reading it is that they've failed to pull some sort of tax out of it, or a health insurance contribution. With all that startup paperwork, I always get paranoid about what's going to be wrongly entered in HR and if my insurance is going to lapse because they think I declined it. I'd suggest sitting down with someone in HR to go over everything, just to make sure that everything is as you want it. There may be some evidence on your pay stub.

Or, maybe they just decided you were worth it. :thumbsup2

Another thread bites the dust.

The challenge is not if we can close a thread in one day. (we can) It's can we keep this on open for another 11 days?

it doesn't look like this will happen.

If it's truly a Leap Day thread, maybe it starts and end with the international date line?

How fun... I'm all :) about the concept already. We'll be :car: the :hourglass, but I know we can do it!

Then afterwards we can all :dancer: and party: at our "achievement" :rotfl:

We can use any time zone we determine, but I think we should stick to one, rather than start in one and end with another. Opening and closing the thread in one 24 hour span should be the goal, imo. Thoughts? :confused3

And just for fun - I'll even buy the highest poster in the LEAP DAY SPECIAL EDITION Thread one of these

Very good point.

I do believe you are correct sir. So perhaps we just stick with Eastern, since the highest concentration of our posters are from the Eastern time zone.

OK gentlemen, I need a little help here.

You see, DW and the kids are on their way to Iowa to visit the in-laws. After being out sick all last week, I didn't have spare leave sitting around to join them for this trip. So I have a Holiday Weekend Bachelor Weekend, starting this evening. :woohoo:

Now, I don't want to waste a ton of money eating out all weekend. But on the other hand, this weekend offers an opportunity for me to enjoy some of the foods that the rest of my family doesn't like/won't eat; watch whatever I want on TV (as loud as I want); etc.

So, here's a rough plan - I'm open to suggestions:

Tonight, either sushi or 5 Guys for dinner. I would go to my favorite coffee house for jazz after, but I just saw that they have a flamenco guitarist and dancers tonight. Just not the mood I'm looking for. Probably come home, catch up on some TV and/or watch a movie.

Tomorrow - sleep in, work on my disdads.com project. Do a few things around the house. Maybe pick up some wings at Costco to heat up for dinner while watching the KU basketball game. Drink some beer.

Sunday - sleep in again, work on the disdads.com project. Thai buffet for either lunch or dinner. Watch a movie or three. Finish leftover wings.

Monday - Sleep in. Clean up any messes I've left behind. Maybe go out for breakfast for some biscuits and gravy. Wait for the family to get home.

Comments?

All I have is that I was the first person at any Disney Park to be granted free entrance on birthday. Since my birthday is January 1st it was always a possibility. I did not realize that it was going to be as big of a deal as it was. We were Grand Marshalls of the parade that day. They had us walking up Main Street all alone filming us.

When the video was posted online a friend who at the time was a DU TA saw it and called Pete (owner of DU and the DIS) and later he called me to interview me for the DISPodcast.

wow.. that must have been awesome!!
