Hey! A bit of Disney related news! Booked the airfare for our August trip today. $116 /person each way. Always great when I can fly my family of 4 for less than a grand. :thumbsup2

Also, to get that good rate, we had to fly down on Friday night vs. Sunday. An extra day in Florida, plus saving a few Benjamins? Yes, please!

Family of four? You leaving a kid in the suitcase or dressing them up like a dog in that commercial?

watery or chunchy??? i need more info. to give a recommendation.

And, I'm sure you have a recommendation for both.

Up by 13 now.
on.

Yeah, apparently the fire extinguisher didn't help much. 13 straight playoff losses for the Knicks. What was that about no good pro teams in Miami?

If that was from hanging out with me, he's probably purging off a bunch of excess Awesome. Most people can't handle as much as emanates from me.

Yeah, you are full of ..it!!!!

It doesn't taste that good coming up the second time.

Cool. But I was looking forward to adventures of the turbo van.

Nah, free on the lap until he's 2. Yeah, it's a bit of a pain, but between DW and I we can pass him around for the 2 1/2 hour flight and save ourselves the $300.

Cool. But I was looking forward to adventures of the turbo van.
DW has declared no long road trips until he's potty trained. Can't say I disagree with her on that one.
Or, is this Barry's last part of the training? Put the family on the flight and see if he can outrun the plane to WDW.

Maybe in January for the race, but in August? I won't be quite ready for that .... yet.:thumbsup2

You may be right. I will blame him for all my problems from now on.
Sounds good!

Let's not confuse the poor new guy. He'll probably think you're talking about finishing the race before me, but then he'll eventually come across that picture of you on your front step, whipping yourself. Then he won't know what to think anymore.
Why are you bringing up old stuff?

Besides, I have a secret weapon on my side: speed!
Is Wisconsin speed better than CT speed? :smokin:

Oh boy. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little... .:headache:

Wow I missed a lot since this afternoon.

Sorry to hear about all the bad stuff....work tension and illnesses.

I'll check out the threads you've all redirected me to sometime as well.

Gah...I hate the Heat, I'd have loved the Knicks to have been able to show up in the 4th quarter.

Good deal! I am hoping to find flights for $250 for our Nov trip. They are still sky high right now. :sad2:

:rotfl2:

I'd like to see that! :tiptoe:

Guess I hit a hot point with the Dads. Glad for those of you that have good schools and I am not surprised to see that you are all involved in your children's education. That is what a DISDad does.

That's how we roll! :thumbsup2

GoofyIsAsGoofyDoes;44784388This about sums it up for me as well. My boy wants to go into music performance said:
If he does end up enjoying it, that will be the most important thing!

Agreed. How does one define success? Wealth is a great start. Or, is it being happy at ones career? What did I read in the Total Money Makeover? Invest $2K for the first 5 years of adult life at 18, 10% APY return, stop investing at 23 and retire close to a millionaire with compound interest? I wish someone had told me that at 18.

Haven't gotten to that part of the book yet. (I've been engrossed in book 2 of the Wheel of Time series) But yes, I also wish someone had told me to save some of the money I pretty much drank away or wasted on really stupid things back when I first started working.

OK guys, I hate to go back ON TOPIC, but I have a question that's been bothering me about a trip I took back in 1990...

It seems to me that I was on a ride in EPCOT and at the end of it, it gave you an "option" to select one of 3 scenes at the end of it with a push of a button in the ride vehicle. It seems to me, that I remember the ride vehicle swiveling at the end to show you these scenes to select from. I want to say they were projected images or something.

I keep thinking it was Spaceship Earth - but I could be wrong.

Any ideas? It's been bothering the heck out of me trying to figure out what it was.

:confused3

Yeah, that was Horizons. I miss that ride. My first kiss with an old girlfriend was on that ride. DW is probably glad it's no longer there. :lmao:

Evening...it was a Peanut Buttery type of day. Store is pretty much at the breaking point now.:sad2: Tense beyond words..

Sorry to hear. Hope your evening was better and hope you have a good friday!

Going to WDW tomorrow morning so all should be well with the world right? Instead of getting ready for the trip I have been driving the porcelain bus all afternoon. Took the kid out to dinner and had them wrap up my food instead of trying to eat it. Things seem to settle down a bit but I need this to go away.

ugh. hope you get off that bus soon. Enjoy your trip!

I remember that. Was that there in 1987? That was a trip I went with my parents and I remember getting to select your ending. Was tht where Mission Space is?

Yep, it's now Mission Space.

Speaking of Epcot rides, the was one there in 2000 when DW and I honeymooned. It was a story about Jerusulem, with the large viewing tv screen and the sets were part of a big simulator. I think there were other cities were represented.

Dave answered this, but I was going to guess this must have been part of the millenium village. I got to go in there that year, but it was so crowded we didn't get to do most of the exhibits. We basically just did a walk-through. I may have some video footage somewhere.

If

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

Lofty goals... something to shoot for.

I AM SUCH AN IDIOT!

Was in the middle of packing everything, called to have the shuttle pick me up and printed out my flight info. Date on the ticket was 5-5 which is SATURDAY not FRIDAY. What a doof. At least I will have another day for my stomach to feel better.

Actually did this once before. Drove up to check in at BLT and I was a day early. Luckily they had a room for me. Chalk it up to being old and infirmed.

:rotfl2: well, at least you caught it BEFORE you left this time!

I have a picture of that mm hand somewhere. I'll have to scan and post it. 2000 was my first trip to WDW, other than that 4 hour trip to Epcot with my parents in 1987 on Spring Break. I think I did get to ride Horizons. I walked round the World Showcase with my mom, rode 3 rides while my dad pouted about how much money he had spent and sat in the car.

I just came across some old pics of horizons.

We started a 401K after we were married, but not a large contribution. Also, my haphazard method of picking funds and trying to time th market was not very successful. It wasn't until I read Dave Ramsey's total money makeover a few years ago that we started on the right direction.

Funny enough, my dad taught me to never carry cash because you might get robbed. As Dave says, the thieves can't see who is carrying cash or a credit card. DW's mom was not good with money and didn't have a credit card, so DW only used cash. When we got married, I convinced her to stop carrying cash, and now that I want her to give up th credit card, she won't.

So, while we don't completely follow the Dave Ramsey system, we refinanced th house and will have it paid off in 20 years from original purchase. We increased 401K contribution and picked mutual funds based on his recommendations how to pick them. DVC would not be a Dave Ramsey recommendation. But, praise the Lord, everything will continue as is for the next 10 - 12 years and DW and I can retire with government & teachers retirement, work part time for another 10 years, and then start living on interest from 401K.

good luck!! hope it all works out well for you!! And as far as Mr. Ramsay not approving of DVC... well, nobody's perfect! :rotfl2:

Off to the midnight showing of The Avengers!

Enjoy!

another day in the books. Time to get some ZZZs. Nothing exciting happening. Dull night at work. We've gotten into the habit of playing poker during the dinner break that the other guys get. Now they have me playing online with them. It's a bit addictive. But I'm not playing with real money, so it's all just for fun.

also just wanted to be the first to wish you all a Happy Star Wars Day!

May the 4th be with you!!

Just got back from The Avengers. Holy Crap. Worth every bit of the $17 IMAX 3D. Must sleep.
