Sweet. Sometimes I wish I would've got my degree in computer science instead of marketing. I know nothing of programming and wish I did.

Some of my best students are folks who have degrees but have decided they want to get something different. Of course it's a long rough path to start - especially with a couple of kids in the house.

I am right there with you Scott...I would like to do the same thing! However, I think I am in too deep to choose another career at this stage of the game.

Stupid Story Ownage

One of the things I have to accomplish is fighting with Disney Store online. We are taking my parents with us on this trip. They have moved to Florida more or less full time now and will be getting Florida Annual Passes (:cool1:) so for fun we decided to get them matching Mickey Mouse Ear Hats with "Grandma" and "Grandpa" embroidered on them (I may have mentioned this in an earlier post). When the box showed up they said "Grandma" and "Lara" so we asked them to fix the problem. Well, the replacement box showed up ... this time "Grandpa" was spelled wrong!!! They aren't being very helpful when we ask them to fix it AGAIN. After a long phone call today my wife as in this mood :thumbsup2 <- not a thumb and that is NOT my sweet DW.

We had issues with the disneystore.com embroidery before too. We ordered fleece vests for the boys with their names embroidered in the Disney font. First, we recieved 1 embroidered vest in normal font and 1 vest with no embroidery. Called and spoke to CM, they said just keep the vests, they would send replacements. Second package had both vests, both embroidered, but still in normal font. Called again, was told they cannot embroider kids clothing with the Disney font...only adult. Anyway, we ended up with several extra kids vests and never got what we originally wanted. They did try to make it right...
:santa:

Wow Fed. That could almost be our story (other than the air-flight and three weeks in the hospital). In our case my wife kept telling our pediatrician - the one we had been seeing for six year with the first two kids - that "something is NOT right" and he kept telling her that DS just had a minor cold and that she was overreacting. Even after he stopped breathing and we made the dash to the ER with him the pediatrician wanted to downplay the whole thing. I distinctly remember sitting in the ER listening to the ER doc telling our pediatrician "You can say what you want but I'm the one looking at this kid's stats and he is SICK." For the first six days in the neo-natal ICU they had to leave him on constant oxygen because everytime they tried to take him off the alarms would immediately start ringing (low pulsox?).

Oddly, we still go to this pediatrician but he has apologized several times and whenever DW calls with a question or complaint he takes her VERY seriously.:thumbsup2

In our adventure with DD, it was the Pediatrician who was right and the ER was wrong. DD just wasn't right. We knew she was off in a major way, very lethargic. DW took off from work and made an appointment with the pediatrician. I got a call from her while I was at work that they were being sent directly from the pediatrician to the ER. I got there as fast as I could, but when you have to take a train from NYC out to Long Island in an emergency, it certainly feels like it's taking forever. She was examined, treated, and sent home that night. Next day pediatrician calls to follow up and DW tells them we're home and the pediatrician is surprised and asks us to bring her back in. DW calls me again from the appointment to let me know they're going back to the ER. This time pediatrician also calls the ER to tell them she's to be admitted. We ended up staying in the hospital for a few days and it wasn't until the 2nd or 3rd day that the hospital doctors were onboard with the pediatrician's diagnosis. My understanding is the pneumonia in children is hard to see when it's in the early stages, but my pediatrician was sure of it and the ER doctors just weren't seeing the same thing at first.

The other "fun" part of our adventure was that they had trouble inserting an IV line into DD. They tried several times in both arms, and with different techs, in the ER and just couldn't get it. They tried one last time once we were admitted and still no go. So the next morning the staff docs show up to introduce themselves and have a look. One of them pulls out the IV kit and says he is going to try the IV again. DD leaped out of the bed and into DW's lap. Before I even realized what I was doing I was standing and had put myself between the doctor and DD. Now normally I am a VERY passive person, and would just let a doctor dictate how things would go. But I wasn't going to let it happen again. I told him I was sorry but we're not putting DD through any more attempts at an IV. We want the shot of meds like they did last night. The doctor asked if I was sure, explaining this would be a painful shot they'd give her every 12 hours. I didn't hesitate. I told him we'd rather have DD get one shot every 12 hours than deal with the IV problem indefinitely. At least I could look my DD in the eyes and honestly tell her that it's just going to be one shot and it's only going to hurt for a little while. We had to hold her down each time because she was terrified whenever the doctors came in, but at least we knew it would be over relatively quick.

In related news, got a letter from our insurance today to let us know that our copay on Flovent will be increasing. Last year they decided not to cover Xopenex anymore and told us to use Albuterol instead. Thankfully with some documentation from the specialist and our pediatrician regarding DD's reaction to Albuterol, we got them to approve coverage for the last Xopenex prescription.

Last week at this time we were posting pictures.

Today we are not...

weird. :lmao:

Man if I had a time machine... there'd be a part of me that would want to use it just to go back a week so I could see those pics!! :lmao::rotfl2:

I wish I had gone with the B.S. in my field (Television) instead of the B.A., and maybe minored in computer science instead of... English! I think I would have made a good engineer. I would still try, and I might try eventually to go back to school and learn those things... but that costs money, and I just don't have it.

if you look at the guy with the bibs on, his left foot, there is a black substance on the stones, i dont have to tell you what that was. :lmao:

That gives a whole new meaning to "In deep S#!*":rotfl2:

They seem to be willing to fix this but on THEIR timeline and schedule. We keep pointing out we ordered these a week before Halloween and they still don't have it right. DW points out that we NEED these for the trip in two weeks and today she was told they can't guarantee we will have them by then. :confused3 I'm about ready to ask for my money back and we can just buy one in the parks although that ruins the whole idea of having these on mom and dad's bed when they get to POP on the first day.

If you are ordering them and getting them at your house, are you arriving there before your parents? If so is there enough time to get to DTD and have one made up before they get there?

post some poop pictures and everyone runs away!!! :lmao:
speaking of pics of people working on there bathroom? :confused3
must be to busy writting his trip report. :lmao:

Wow... took quite a while to get caught up this morning. Haven't had much time on the boards with the holiday/work/work on bathroom routine I've been in. Then thrown in rehearsals for our Christmas cantata at church and I'm tapped out :scared: Update on the bathroom: Framing complete with the exception of a shower wall. Leaving that til last so I have room to run plumbing/wiring. Drain lines almost complete. Some electrical done. And that's about it. Will be working on it late into the night tonight.

Oh.. and MIL has officially moved in

And I'm in training all week at work.

11 days until WDW :cool1: :rotfl: :woohoo: Are we there yet??

That is all

This and Fed's story are truly scary. It's awful as a parent to see your kid not being able to breathe.

Once we stayed at my brother's apartment in NH on a visit, and he had a cat. We woke up in the middle of the night to a horrible wheezing sound, and found my daughter really struggling to breathe. So we hightailed it to the ER and found her blood oxygen dipping below 90%. :scared1: Thankfully they got her breathing again.

Now my brother has 2 cats and still wonders why we don't stay with him when we visit. :sad2:

Thx.... I know I might be out of line here and my team is playing and looking like crap but would you like to put a small wager on Sunday's game???
Hey, it's your money. What did you have in mind?

I teach computer science. These days mostly programming both for majors and non-majors, plus the occasional Artificial Intelligence or Interface Design course. Trying to put the finishing touches on an NSF grant application based on some cool research a colleague and I have been doing on using smartphones as input devices for classroom activities. It's a great gig. It wears me out by the end of each school year but I can't imagine being any happier doing something else (other than maybe running the Dole Whip machine at my current salary :thumbsup2)
I graduated with a BS in Computer Science not too far from you - University of Wisconsin - La Crosse. I got about half way through the course work and thought "yeaaaah, this programming is fun and all, but there's no way I'm going to want to make a living at it." I added a business admin minor and now work as a system admin.
And I hate to break it to you, but students have been using smartphones in class for years. As ways to cheat. :rolleyes1

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

(Imagine a sound clip of the Psycho theme here) :rotfl2:

+1 - this was my exact reaction as well! :thumbsup2

:lmao: So far so good... but now you know WHY I'm trying to get the bathroom done so quickly... so she can have her own space!

Also... meant to say this earlier... prays for all those needing them. And I'm very grateful that I have never had any breathing issues with my little one. Although... I DID have to give CPR to my wife one time. Stopped breathing during a panic attack... EMT's showed up and gave her oxygen and stuff and she was ok after. Gotta say... giving CPR to a loved one freaks me out!

dont wager with Barry !! trust me, been there done that!!!

Morning guys. We are heading home today :sad1:

I'll have some interesting stories to share when I get back home.

Kidani was awesome :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Talk to you guys soon :cool1:

You HAVE to go to Hanauma Bay when you go to Hawaii. Like something out of a movie there are so many tropical fish. Truly unbelievable! So glad I went!

+1 to this. I went snorkeling there when I was out for a wedding a few years back (wait... 11 years ago!?!?! I gotta get back there...).

Very excited, although I've got way too much to accomplish in the next two weeks. I'm a college professor and the next two weeks are BUSY. This semester all three of my classes have finals on Monday. I hope to grade during the later exams and all day on Tuesday and be ready to hit the road on Wednesday. Our flight isn't until LATE on Wednesday so I could even squeeze in a little more work that day if I had to :scared1:

I hope you went Scantron multiple choice on this exam then. As a computer science guy, I would think making a machine do the work is a poetic move :lmao:

If you can get your money back from them, I will be down at WDW next week and should be able to get over to Downtown Disney to get this done for you. Just let me know exactly what you need, and I can make it happen. PM me with that information, and where and when you're going to get there and I can probably leave it at your hotel for your arrival. Would that work?

Can't wait to hear - in the form of a trip report ;)

Safe travels back my friend.

Heh. It's not like it's tough talking my DW into going over to Downtown Disney for a bit.

And, hey, if Disney isn't making the magic happen, it's up to us to do it, right?
