Welcome back! Hope the trip was awesome!

It was Thank you :thumbsup2

Welcome back David.

While you were gone, we travelled back in time.

:wave2:

I saw that. I missed alot while I was gone. You guys almost closed the place down :lmao:

Welcome home Dave. Glad you had a safe trip back.

Thank you sir. I honked when we passed the exit for Owensboro. It was like at 9pm last night :thumbsup2

Good to see you are back safe & sound. I need to start my TR as well. I want to bang it out today, but it might not happen until tomorrow.

Now I need to reset my countdown timer though. Looking like we're about a year away from our next trip. I'm pushing for AKL, but I expect some arguments from one of the sisters. This would be so much easier if either (1) we had our own DVC, instead of using the in-laws for our extended family trips; or (2) everyone would just me do all the planning instead of trying to add their own $.02 worth. :rotfl:

Do a plan and submit it. Everyone else's will have to compare to yours, which will show their flaws since you are a DisDad!!

Had a bunch of meetings in SF and NY last week so I haven't been able to keep up with this board as much as I like. The time warp issues didn't make it any easier either.

On the plus side we are enroute to Sunny Southern California.

Whatever you say :rotfl2:

Have fun :thumbsup2

Hi guys,
I need some help and of course, my first thought is of my brethren of the DisDads.

Earlier this week we had a drain blockage that caused standing water in the downstairs bathroom (the problem occurred in the bathroom directly above). When my DD12 went down to clean up some of the mess, she touched a wall (which was wet) and received a shock. After cleaning the mess and waiting for the wall to dry, I bought a gizmo to verify current and I found an area of wall & ceiling that shows a live current. What should I do next?:confused3 I am fairly clueless about electrical. I do know that the previous owner had put in the downstairs bath and I am not sure it was done to code. We live in an unincorporated area of the county and I am sure no inspections were done. I really do not want to break in to the walls, or call a plumber or electrician, especially since I am still unemployed.

So, do any of you have any advise?

Greetings from the woods. Haven't seen anything to shoot at yet. We did however cook some awesome asparagus and portabella mushrooms on the camp stove. Good times with the FIL.

Cheers,
Indy

You probably don't need to break into the walls (at least not the concrete ones). What you likely have is an ungrounded and non-GFCI circuit in that bathroom, and the wet area is conducting. If you're not comfortable doing electrical work yourself, call an electrician and have him check the circuit that feeds that bathroom. It may need rewiring, but there's a good chance it can be rewired without opening the wall.

Edited to add: if you want to take a run at it yourself, I suggest the following:
1) Turn OFF the circuit breaker that services the bathroom.
2) Pull the bathroom breaker, and ensure that the wires are properly connected on that end, including the ground wire.
3) Pull the bathroom wall outlet. If it's not a GFCI outlet (should have a reset button on it), you need to replace it anyway. Make sure the ground wire is connected.
4) Check the light switch as well and make sure its ground wire is connected.

I know that the outlet does not have a reset on it. I think the owner, when he converted the daylight basement into usable space ran all the wiring (bedroom, two storage rooms, one great room, bathroom, and two outside receptacles) all on one circuit. (When my father and I built the fence, we killed off the outside receptacles as they shorted out. Dad was a contractor for many years and before that was a water inspector. If he lived closer, and was able to see better, I would have him here in a heartbeat. Only problem is he lives in Palm Springs and we live in Washington state.)

I will see what I can do. The light switch and outlet are not in the area showing live current, on the other side of the wall where it is showing is the sump pump for the drains (the knucklehead added the bathroom lower than the intake for the septic tank and installed a pump to raise the sewage two feet to the intake pipe.)

I agree with Aaron, don't start busting into walls. While I can do some minor electrical stuff, my advice is turn off the fuse (breaker box) to that room, and hope it's not connected to another major room. It is easy to injure yourself with electricity if not careful. I'll defer to the other dads for recommendations.

Mostly agree. I think they could easily have a plus 4 and keep the bowls in tact. Like you said, the bowls are a chance for kids to play one last time and reward fans and players with a nice trip.

Once you start going to a plus 1 or plus 4, then you make the case for a playoffs. I guess there could be both. Either way, I think college football needs to end Jan 1. This dragging the national champ game to muddle of Jan needs to stop.

The top 8 (10,12 with byes) teams could start a playoff bid in December, assuming reg season and conference championship games end in November. While there would be arguments as to which is the true #last team to make playoffs, it would be less likely to have the wrong matchup in championship game. Then, other bowls could go with other schools, with those top 8 deferring their chance for a bowl game ring. So many scenarios and debates with this one.

At first I was jealous, but then I saw the girly lavender shoes and felt better... :rotfl:

Kidding. Have a great vaca nemesis! :thumbsup2

Brook no arguments. AKL is awesome. It is definitely my favorite place to stay at WDW with the kids.

The stray is a peeing machine. So far this morning, twice in the house (before I got up) and about four times outside. I DO NOT WANT ANOTHER DOG!

Good luck not getting a new dog. I spoke volumes about how I did not want another cat. Absolutely not. DW and my two DDs were pro-another cat. So, of course, we have another cat... :confused3

It's my favorite. DW and I stayed there a few years back as an anniversary trip, and I have been pushing hard for it ever since. Several of the sisters keep arguing that AKL is "too far out" - and I keep countering that it has better, and more importantly, dedicated, bus service.

I will try to remember what I posted and who knows... you might get a new addition as well! :thumbsup2

Also you'll see people ordering the cheese plate. It comes with cheese, onions, a row of saltines, and mustard that looks like it has been sitting out for years. (it is good though LOL)

Paul's Da Burger Joint

Take a horse drawn carriage ride through central park..http://www.centralpark.com/guide/activities/horse-drawn-carriages.html

Of course Times Square has a ton of different stores and activities. Check out the new Disney Store 1540 Broadway (Broadway/45), Toys R Us, and FAO Schwarz 767 5th Avenue @ 58th St (a little walk from Times Square)(http://www.fao.com/shop/index.jsp?categoryId=3810526)

Good Luck!!!! I wish I was off or I'd come down and hang out!

Thanks again Tim! We are headed there tomorrow. We're going to do the Holiday stuff Macy's, Lord and Taylor, ect Holiday windows. Disney, Toy's R Us and because there three girls and only two boys, American Girl. We'll to hit some of the things you laid out. Thanks again.

I am anti-pet period. Our cat passed on June last year and that was it for me. I'd like to be able to go away to Disney etc, without worrying about pets. DW and kids want a dog or cat badly. So far my wishes have been respected. DW tried yesterday to entice me with a cat named Ebenezer, hoping that my love of Christmas Carol would give in, but still no. My brother folded earlier this year and got a dog, and regrets it bitterly.

Just returned from seeing THE MUPPETS.

Great movie. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Some of the music dialogue was a little cheesy, but all in all a job well done to revive the muppets. Lots of little hidden jokes, call backs to the original series, and just funny moments.

Oh and....

Manamana...

Bad day at work, but it should get better, I have the kids tonight, DW went to her work Christmas Party that I don't have to go to :woohoo: And I'm introducing the girls to The Princess Bride :thumbsup2

Excellent plan. :thumbsup2
I just introduced DS to The Princess Bride last night. :3dglasses

Go UNI. Beat the Terriers. (Had to look it up)

Well thanks to "Dome field" advantage (our home stadium is the UNI dome) and the best wishes from CJ the Panthers pulled off a great victory today to advance to the round of 8 in the FCS. :cool1: :thumbsup2

They actually scored two touchdowns with no time off the clock thanks to a boneheaded play by one of the Wofford players - he took the kick off in the endzone but never officially downed it so the ref never blew the whistle. After realizing what was going on one of our players ran in, knocked the ball loose and fell on it for a touchdown.
