DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

Ok, week one went ok. Didn't lose as much as I hoped, but I'm down 3-4 pounds. Usually I lose like 7 week one (water weight). Guess my age is showing, huh? Oh, and I am about to start my period, so I'm hoping that I'll see a bigger jump afterwards. John didn't weigh today, but I think he lost 6-7 pounds.

Off to week 2~

Yay, Denise!!! Just remember, a loss is a loss!!!!! We celebrate them all, here!

On to week 2. Things are looking up for us all!

So I am gonna get back on track. Oh, wait perhaps I am there I just have to continue. I ate healthy yesterday and today (so far). Yesterday I walked half an hour and today I walked an hour. I just have to keep myself on track and continue what I have started.

I also bought a new scale yesterday so now I have a more accurate idea of what I weigh, instead of a scale where the weight varies by pounds depending where you stand on the scale.

Congratulations to all of you who are losing weight and to those of you who are trying sending :wizard: and :grouphug: to all of you.

Right back at ya, girl! You are doing so great! I'm just so proud of you!!!!

:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Just throwing some jumping jacks in for y'all :thumbsup2

Glad everyone is doing well - my excercise is still going really well - I even did two workouts this morning as it was my day off!

Still no change on the scale - but I've fallen off the evening bowl of cereal wagon :rolleyes1: Must try harder to resist that next week :rotfl:

Everyone seems to be doing so well this week! I haven't exercised (formally), as we've just been so busy. Just got home from 2+ hours at the pool with the kids.

Lost another pound and still waiting on my period... We went out to dinner at Applebees last night, and John and I both ordered the WW meals. Only 300 calories! We're doing well on not cheating so far.

Good luck to all this week!

So I was doing really good today. I ate healthy no soda, junk food, etc and I walked for an hour. Until I walked out of my training tonight, got in my car and decided I would stop at Rita's right when I got near it. Actually I was hoping they were still open, they were, I was the last customer of the night. :rotfl2:

I got a chocolate cherry misto shake. I took my first sip once I was in my car and was like oh, crap I'm not supposed to have this. So I drank about an inch off the top of the 16 oz cup and put the rest in the freezer for another day. At least I got the smallest size cup they offered but it is still huge.

I was proud of myself for not drinking the whole thing. I figure if I drink a small part of it everyday for several days as a treat it won't be that bad for me and figure the calories in with everything else I eat. As I refuse to throw it away, it is only the second time this year I have gotten anything from Rita's. The only other time was when they gave it away for free.

You did exactly the right thing, Becky. If you had denied yourself that shake your craving would have built to the point where you would have drunk the whole thing in one sitting. Good for you!

I totally agree! We can't deny ourselves a treat now and then. You're less likely to splurge on the whole thing if you take little bits now and then. You are doing just great, Becky! I'm really proud of you!

Becky...........great job. You showed real willpower & it's ok to have a treat....& you are learning the real lesson which is moderation. :thumbsup2

Everybody else let's just keep going. :cheer2:

So I ate well today, excercised, got attacked by mosquitoes. :rolleyes1

Please remind me to never go for a walk after 6pm two days after it rains. I started out my walk with no problems like normal. About 10 to 15 minutes into it I noticed that I was being bit by mosquitoes. I kept walking a little while more and it was getting worse. I was being eaten alive by mosquitoes.

At one point I had 5 mosquitoes on my leg and several others on my body. It was horrible I have never been eaten by mosquitoes so quickly and fierecely in my life before. Yes I am known to be prone to mosquito bites but this was horrible.

I ran for my life back to my car. I kid you not. I don't think I have ever ran that far and that fast before in my life. I had already walked about a mile and I ran almost the whole thing back. I thought I was going to die. Everytime I slowed down the mosquitoes would catch up and start sucking my blood again. So I had to keep running. When I made it back to my car I almost collapsed.

I turned the car and the AC on and caught my breath. As there was no way I was staying out in open to become mosquito meat for more of the little suckers. Then I drove home. Once I got home I rubbed my body down with vinegar and coated myself in hydrocortisone cream and I downed some Benadryl. I still was itchy, I know myself and I know I will scratch the stupid things open no matter how hard I try not to.

I have about 10 to 20 bites on each leg, 5 to 10 on each arm. I have several on my head, neck and face. I have them on my back, shoulders, etc basically I got eaten alive.

Although I did not walk for an hour as planned I think I still got my fair share of exercise given the circumstances. :teeth:

Good lord Becky. I hate mosquitos........well, I hate all bugs actually. Bless your heart...hope you aren't too itchy today. :wizard: to help you get over your mosquito attack fast.

Well, I just got done with 2 miles... and I jogged all but about 3 minutes of it! :cool1: It actually felt good :faint:

I'm off to bed early tonight. It's been a long day, and I'm not in a very positive mood. Here's hoping tomorrow is better. After all, I have 3 miles to contend with!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. :goodvibes

Yay, Jennifer!!! That is so cool! I'm sorry you are not in a very good mood! Here's hoping that a new day will be brighter!!!!

Well, I did a 4 mile route yesterday morning, and did it in an hour. That's 15 minutes per mile! I can't believe I can do this! I feel so much more positive about the half marathon, now! I kept that pace for 4 miles. Now, I'm going to stay at 4 miles for a couple of weeks, then add another mile on. I'm just slowly working my way up!

That's great! 15 minutes, and we still have months to go! That's certainly enough time to get 13 miles at that pace, or maybe even faster. It's amazing how much our bodies will just adapt and start a) picking up speed and b) not hating us as much for the same workout that thought it would kill them a few weeks prior! :rotfl:

Your plan sounds great! That's pretty much what we do as well. We have a few different things during the week, and then Sunday is our "long run" (which isn't too long yet  ). That amount goes up a mile every 2 weeks or so. We are a bit behind on our training schedule, but there's still plenty of time!

I'm awake in a better mood, so let's see if that stays the same once Kyle gets up! :rolleyes1 It's nothing serious, just one of those things that's bugging me, you know? I'll get over it! :)

Boy, do I hear you! Some days I try to be out of the house before Alan wakes up so I don't have to deal with it! I hope things are smoother for you today! Enjoy your Sunday "long run". We usually take a family "stroll" on Sunday evenings. The kids ride their scooters or bikes and Alan and I walk along behind. It's a fun way to unwind as a family after the day!

Have a great one!

Ok, please tell me that I really want to go run my errands, including to the gym for today's run. I didn't do the long run yesterday, so now I have to do it today. Grr! Harass me later please, and see if I did it?

Consider yourself harassed!! Did you get your long run in? How are you doing? Are things calming down for you?

I did!! I only ran the first mile, and did the last 3 at about a 15.5 minute pace. My stomach was absolutely KILLING me with TOM and IBS stuff (which I find ironic that it was being posted about on the big thread around the same time!) so I couldn't hardly stand in the morning..... so I was quite pleased that I felt a little bit better and made myself do it! And today Kyle's home (which I'm happy about this time ;) ) and we only have a 35 minute walk to do -- much better! :thumbsup2

Thanks for asking :goodvibes
