DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

Ok, everyone! No more feeling down about our weight! We are all doing the best that we can, and no one can do any more than that!

Deb, I think Elin is right about you being so tired! Don't let it get you down! Keep making the right food choices, and the exercise will come when your life gets back to normal!

Jen - When you feel yourself hitting that 140 plateau, up your intake of water. That's what my doctor told me to do, and it really seems to work. It gives me that little push to conquer the plateau!

Anne Marie - Congrats on the weight loss! 16 pounds since January is fabulous! Keep up the great work!

Clare - Good for you on the exercise thing! That's what works for me, too. If I exercise before I put anything in my mouth, it makes me more aware of what I'm eating.

Just remember, guys, there's no beating ourselves up, here! That's what has caused so many of our problems. We CAN do this! We WILL do this! :cheer2:

Clare--I did my 10 jumping jacks! I should go do a few more, since I haven't exercised yet today. :Pinkbounc Good for you on getting your exercise in every day!

Ann Marie--CONGRATULATIONS on the 2 pounds this week and the 16 pounds total! Your Disney photos are going to look FABULOUS! :cheer2:

Jen--I agree about upping the water and just keep doing what you are doing. Eventually those stubborn pounds will give up! :wizard:

It was my weigh-in day today, too. I lost another 2 pounds this week for 18 pounds total. I survived Miles birthday without overindulging. I ate light during the day and had only one piece of pizza, a big salad, and some fruit for dinner. I had enough points left for a small piece of cake and a chocolate covered strawberry, but I actually decided that I didn't really want the cake. I did have the strawberry! Now I just have to stay away from the rest of the cake (which I KNOW I will).

Beth

Thanks everyone..im on my 4th bottle of water today...
Im hoping this weekend i can start doing my exercise tapes again ( i have the FIRM, billy blanks) dont know which one to do, but im hoping to at least do a little bit and get back into things..thanks for your support guys, i was really starting to feel down about myself

Ok, I am reporting back in after my chocolate bar slip. :rotfl2: I went to my meeting last night & used my green ticket as planned. I have been back on track for 2 days now & I am feeling motivated to keep on going again.
Whew..........I feel better now.

Good job on your losses Beth & Anne Marie & on maintaining Elin. :cool1:
Great job with the excercise Clare. I need to do a few more :yay: :yay: & get myself outside for more walks & get over the post vacation blahs. I did tons of walking & biking on vacation, but coming home & getting back into the work routine has slowed down my excercise. But I WILL KICK IT UP A NOTCH!!!!! & GET my butt in gear.

Great goals Paula.

Keep drinking your water Jen....plateaus are so hard.

I agree with Glynis who is our ultimate :cheer2: , lets focus on the positives. We have all made changes & are doing so much better than we were. We are loosing & getting healthier.....we should take it a little easier on ourselves. :goodvibes

Here's to a great weekend & a good week for everyone. :grouphug:

Beth, that is great that you did well this weekend! 18 lbs is awesome! I wouldn't be able to pass up one of those strawberries you made, thats for sure!!!!

I successfully passed the dual-birthday challenge this week! Now the next challenge is the synchro swim meet in Albany this weekend. I will emerge victorious! :rotfl: Seriously, even though there is still cake and pie out there, it isn't calling my name. I have no idea why I'm in such a good zone, but I'm going to stay here as long as I can.

Wow! That's willpower! Especially after looking at the cake! I can understand eating the strawberry! Those looked too good to pass up! Good for you on the 18 pounds down! Give yourself a pat on the back!

I've found that my tastes have changed since I stopped eating so many sweets. I just don't crave them, even if they are in the house. I can find other things that satisfy me. However, I don't deprive myself. If something looks good, I can take a taste and be satisfied. I don't feel the need to eat an entire piece of cake or pie, a small taste will do.

Good for you, Jen! You can do it! Just think how wonderful you'll feel once you beat this plateau!

Well, Alan and I went to a church dinner/dance last night. I spent the morning baking desserts and I was so good all day, I decided I'd reward myself with a bite of dessert at the dance. When we got there I knew it was going to be hard, as the air smelled of lasagna. However, I ate a huge salad, and scraped the meat and cheese out of all the layers of the lasagna and ate that and gave Alan the noodles. After dinner he brought me some dessert and I had a bite....then another...then one last bite. It all tasted good, but terribly sweet. Within about 20 minutes, my body began the "dumping" syndrome. I started to get really hot and nauseous. We stayed as long as I could stand it, and then we left. Within a couple of hours I was fine, but it just showed me that I should have stuck with only one bite of dessert. Where's my willpower going? Oh well. I was positive that I would gain a few ounces back, and was just resolving not to beat myself up about it.

Lo and behold, this morning when I got on the scale I saw I was down almost 2 pounds. I guess all the walking/jogging I've done the last few days, along with the swimming I did yesterday, really bumped up my metabolism. I was so happy! It's wierd to think that I'm almost at my goal weight. I never thought it would happen, and now it is!!! I looked at myself in the mirror this morning, and just cried for happiness!

I just had to share with my weight loss buddies! Thanks for inspiring me you guys! I would have a seriously hard time without you all in my corner!

This is absolutely awesome!!!!! I'm so happy for you. You are doing awesome! Keep up the good work.

Glynis........I am so very proud of you for being so close to your goal. You have done a super job. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I have been good this week after my chocolate bar slip up so I hope the scales are kind to me on Tuesday. We had a dinner party last night & made lasagna, manicotti & tiramisu. I had a small bit of lasagna, a biggggggg salad, a piece of bread & a very small piece of tiramisu & I have boxed up the rest of the tiramisu for my hubby to take to work tomorrow to get rid of it. I hadn't used hardly any flex points this week until yesterday & I still remained in control but enjoyed using a few flex points to splurge a bit.

Good for you, Melanie! I think we're entitled to splurge a little bit. I just need to remember my limits, and not exceed them. I'll cross my fingers for your weigh in!

Thanks. It helps to be able to come here for support! I honestly don't know what I'd do without you all!

Hope you all had a great weekend.

Today is my day 30/100. We went out for dinner tonight at Applebee's. I got the chicken cobb salad & chocolate raspberry cake from the weight watchers menu. Really good!!!!!

Hey all! I've absolutely STUNK the last couple of weeks as far as eating well. When we were 30 days out from our cruise, I posted and said how motivating that would be ---

Well, I've exercised a bit since then (but not as much as I should have), but I think I had about 4 days that I actually ate well without snacking on (or even pigging out on) junk! :sad2:

I've been REALLY fortunate to have still "only" re-gained a total of about 3 pounds from the 11 I had lost since January. I'm starting to panic though about wardrobe for the trip, and I really can't afford to buy all new clothes since we have to save for furniture!

SO......

I'm asking for your help! Unfortunately, just knowing you all are here is not working as well for me as it is some of you (who are doing amazingly, by the way!) .... so if you could call me out on the next 12 days, that would be great. Ask me here, PM me, whatever... make me come clean with my eating and exercising each day if you think about it and have a minute.

I'm about 6 pounds from my original cruise goal, so I'm not going to freak out if I don't get there. It's not too likely, since "those last 10 pounds" always go the slowest.... I will just be pleased if I fit into some clothes and don't have to wear sweats every day in the Bahamas!

Thanks so much for your support... and keep up the good work! :wizard: :grouphug:

You got it, babe! I'll try to remember to be a Jiminy Cricket for you and for Vicki. I've been bad, but I'll do better. I promise!

Oh Jen!!!!!! (that's in a calling kinda voice)

 None yet, but thanks for asking! I literally fell asleep on the couch "for 10 minutes" waiting for Kyle to get home, and slept for almost 3 hours!!!!!!!!!!! So much for my plans for the day!!

After dinner, Kyle and I are going to walk our 2.5 mile neighborhood loop. It's not as much as I had planned, but it's something -- and better than the last several days! I must just even run part of it, we'll see

I will come back and keep you posted, though! Although you won't probably know until tomorrow with the time difference ;)
