DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

So, I picked out my shoes finally! I talked to NB gurus at their store for 2 days now, so they better be THE perfect shoe for my foot! :rotfl:

They didn't have the pink ones (which I was ticked about :rotfl2: ) so they are a little funky looking for my style....

But they'll do. Besides, I already told Kyle that if I successfully do the Flying Pig and register for WDW, I'm getting a really cute running outfit for that one, and I'll need new shoes by then anyway

I could get used to this, for all the wrong reasons! :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Anything for a shopping trip, right? That's my gal!

I just posted my progress on the other thread and was astonished to see that I've been posting for 6 weeks and have lost 10 pounds in that 6 weeks. Now that may not seem like much, but I've never had such success before. I know that having the surgery accelerated things, but for someone who has been overweight for the last 15 years, it's an amazing thing.

Exercise is still going well. I can feel my jeans getting looser and looser over my hips and that's what I want!

Jennifer - I forgot to ask you. Are those shoes New Balance? That's what I'm using and I love them. I just wondered if you thought it was a good shoe.

yes, they are. I have only bought New Balance shoes since about 9th grade.... I think they are outstanding! The technology, etc that goes into the shoes and the knowledge of people about them (we have specific New Balance stores around here) is incredible!

I've always been pretty picky about how running/workout shoes fit, and I cant complain!

Congrats on the weight loss by the way.... I can't wait for loose jeans! :goodvibes

Glynis -- congrats on your weight loss -- that is awesome -- keep it up!

I picked up a pair of New Balance shoes last Fall before my surgery, and I love them. I wore them all through DL and never had foot pain. I was hoping that I could use them through the half marathon, and now it looks like you think they'd work out fine! That just makes my day!

Thanks. I'm feeling pretty good, even though the weight is not coming off as fast as it was in the beginning. I keep telling myself I'm building muscle mass, and it will all work out in the end.

I just love the support I'm getting here! It really is making a difference in my exercising attitude. On the days when it seems really hard to do, I know I'll have to check in here and be honest!

Hi all. I wasn't able to go to my regular WW meeting last night as I ended up having to work late, but I went tonight & I lost 3 lbs this week (the 1.5 I gained last week :teeth: & another 1.5 gone). Feeling pretty good about that.

My ear still feels kind of :listen: so I am holding off on starting my excercise until it is better. It still feels like it has fluid & it is throwing my sense of balance etc off. Going to join Curves on Monday.

Have a great rest of your week.
Keep up the good work everybody. :cheer2:  :cheer2:

I am down another pant size. That is two pant sizes since October. I'm down 19 pounds in the same time frame. Still have 23 I would like to lose but I'm happy with where I'm at. I went out and bought some new pants for my Disney trip. Yeah!!!!! :woohoo:  :cool1: I never thought I'd be able to do this. Thanks for the help DDA friends!!!!

So did a bunch of us restart yesterday? I did. I restarted my diet plan and exercised for 20 minutes. :cool1: Now I need to kick myself in the butt to exercise today. The diet isn't too hard for me, but the exercise factor is tough. I know it is all mental as I feel great when I do it. So tell me your progress, I really do want to know.

Deb

Im doing okay--of course, im pretty sick again which is making it hard, but im still doing some form of exercise, although not the big stuff...ive been eating okay and i am now under my precruise weight (which was 144)--im now at 143.5

Congrats Melanie and Vicki on the progress!

Jen -- take care of yourself. Any exercise is better than none, and you don't want to push your body any harder than you feel it can go right now! Keep it up :goodvibes

Glynis just an FYI- every professional marathoner will tell you to get a new pair of shoes every 100 miles you walk. You should at least have 2 pairs you can alternate at all times so one or the other is ready and in good support condition when you do the half. Support is vital in marathoning- especially as you start walking greater number of miles all at once.

Glad to hear everytone is doing so well! Wish I could say the same for me. :(

Thanks for the advice. Next time DH brings home a paycheck I'll pick up another pair. I am loving the New Balance! My back just doesn't hurt anymore.

I'm sorry to hear you're not doing well. Is there anything I can do? I know you have your meeting with the surgeon on the 13th. I'm on pins and needles for you. Please let me know if there's anything I can do. PM me if you need to talk or have questions or just want to vent. I really want to be of help!

This thread just helped save me from an emotional eating binge...im having an off couple of days and i wanted to go eat some junk in the worst way..i started to read this thread and realize its not worth it!

I am so glad to see this thread getting posted on again. It is great to hear of all your progress. It makes me realize that I can do it too. I can't believe how hard it is to stay on track these days. I've dieted 3 days now with absolutely no cheating and I've exercised once. Guess we all know where my issues lie. I haven't been able to get Chris back on the plan so I know that it is going to be much more difficult. I'm sure when I start dropping pounds again he will feel bad and join me. At least I hope so.

Deb - I know what you mean about your DH. Alan is the same way. He says he wants to train for the half with me, but when push comes to shove, he isn't willing to exercise. We'll see what happens as the time gets closer. He's also getting tired of the low carb meals I'm fixing. The kids have stopped complaining about them, but Alan is really tired of it. Oh well, he'll just have to deal with it. I'm determined to make my family healthy whether he likes it or not. Hopefully this will pass.

Stick to it, just remember that your whole family will benefit from good eating habits for the rest of their lives. My kids complaint a lot about not having cakes and cookies daily for snacks, but Nick has really slimmed down and is starting to make healthier choices on his own. That is the key, getting them to recognize the best foods for them. Your DH can always have something of the not so healty variety for lunch or on business trips when you and the kids are not with him.

Since Chris has posted on this thread I told him that he is going to have to check back in soon and that everyone here will be getting on his case if he doesn't get with the program. So ladies it's time to hold kitchensinkguy accountable. I will read any posts to him as they are posted and we'll see if he jumps back on the bandwagon with the rest of us.

Does anyone else need a push in the right direction? I'd be happy to PM anyone that's having a hard time with gentle encourage and pick me ups ;)

Deb

I'm feeling pretty motivated right now. :mickeyjum
I got back into a pair of jeans I haven't worn in awhile & that feels good. :goodvibes
I have a long way to go but with 20lbs less of me since I started, I feel like I've got a good start. :woohoo: My :listen: is finally starting to feel better so I am all set to start excercising on Monday. :jumping1:
Everyone have a great weekend & hang in there.
We can do it!!!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
