Discovery Health Channel has announced that they are doing their National Body Challenge again this year. DH and I stumbled onto a weigh in at our mall last January, and the program helped motivate us for quite a while (until our February WDW trip when we ate a little too well!). Anyway, it includes freebies (like trial membership at Bally's, online meal and exercise tracker and sweepstakes) and provides yet one more place to be held accountable. This year, you can set up groups of friends -- so I started one called Disney Design Addicts.

If you send me your e-mail address and first and last names (PM me or e-mail), I will send you the official invite to sign up as part of the DDA group. GO TEAM! :cheer2:

i PMed you, but dont know if i put my email address..and of course, deleted the PM! If it didnt, my email is blueeyes101817@comcast.net

I have a bad knee so workout is hard except for walking and the gazelle. I promise to workout at least 4 times a week. I already drink only water - sometimes juice or power ade. I need to quit eating junk food and between meals. DS is in college and DH works until 10 p.m. so I am the only one to cook for. It is really easy to just eat junk or grab fast food.

Here's an idea. Everytime you want to buy fast food, take the money that you would have spent and set it aside for something nice for yourself or your next Disney trip. I bet you'll be amazed how quickly it will add up.

Hey Guys,
I found that drinking water was getting boring, so I took oranges, lemons and a few limes, cut them in thick slices (little more than a drink wedge but small enough to get in a large water bottle) set them on a large plate and put them in the freezer. Then once frozen, put them in baggies, and when getting ready for work, I would add one with ice to my water and drink that all day. It adds just enough flavor. I usually do not do the lime alone, I add a slice of lemon but it sure makes me want to drink more water in a day.

Deb, that is a great idea and I plan to do that!

I just went into our basement and did 7 minutes on the treadmill and 7 minutes on the cardio cruiser...i know it doesnt seem like much, but i figured i would start low and add a minute each day so i can gradually work myself up..does that seem like it would work or is it just weird??

Sounds really good to me!

NOw if I can just drink this d$#$#$# water. It is 4:45 and I am on bottle one of 4.......

Hi everyone. I'm gearing up to get going with all the support from you gals and guys! Weighing in this morning I am at 170 pounds. My goal is to lose another 50 to match the 50 I've lost since Halloween.

I have to drink 64 ounces of water every day, so I sympathize with all of you on trying to get your water down. If the taste of water really starts to gross you out, try drinking some Fruit2O. It's really good and has zero calories and zero carbs. I drink one or 2 bottles a week, and find that that satisfies my craving for something sweet.

Since the surgery, I've found that my cravings for sweets is going away, but I am still craving salty and crunchy foods. Thank heavens for raw veggies. It takes me a while to eat a whole carrot, but the crunch is awfully fun!

I've cleaned off the treadmill, and hope to walk a mile on it this afternoon. Wish me luck!

Good luck to you all, here's to a slimming New Year! :cheer2:

Whoever posted about fitday.com.... I LOVE it! We just bought the PC version for extra reports, etc. DH is in heaven, too! We're QUITE the obsessive-compulsive type, so this is perfect. Thanks for the tip! :goodvibes

Deb, That is an excellent idea! We did not eat out at all this weekend. Usually, we would have headed out twice over a long weekend. Maybe not both sit down meals but definitely one sit down at $40 and $20 at Fast Food! I am going to keep track.

I was surprised how much my groceries were on Saturday, but I have already saved a good portion of that by not eating out!!!

No white today except my trail mix has a few sparse M&Ms in it.
I made my own trail mix, so much less salt and only things I like.

I used Kashi Go Lean Crunch, peanuts, dried cranberries, M&Ms (very few). It really hit the spot this afternoon! I am keeping a bag in my purse and in my car!!! No junk for me. No chance for a moment of weakness!!!!!!!!

Here is my idea....

Let's have a weekly thread, dated so this one is not too cumbersome.

Let's start the new Thread on Monday and report our weekly loses on Wednesday. (Or we can choose another day if you prefer) I like Wednesday, because I find weekends to be my days to struggle and don't want to weigh on Mondays.

What do y'all think?

As far as the thread goes I will go with whatever everyone else wants to do. I usually just go in through my email so I will need to look for a new thread each week. Is the exercise time set for 9:30 tonight? I did 30 minutes today, but might try some situps or pushups.

Deb

Today I walked for about an hour. I had a salad and some shrimp for dinner. Although I did slip at work today I took a bite of a peanut butter cup before I realized duh, I can't have it. I threw the rest away.

I think I am going to break out the Playstation and DDR and use that for a workout. That is another thing I used to do in college I don't anymore. Although I need to move the playstation out into the living room, it is in my bedroom and in there I would have to use my bed to put the playing mat on. That is a disaster waiting to happen. One monkey jumping on the bed one fell off and broke her head. Not a good idea.

My starting weight is 230 and I am 5' 11", so I have about 60 pounds to lose, but for now I'll be happy to get under 200 pounds. I need to cut out the soda and junk food.

Becky

FWIW, I really like one thread. :goodvibes :goodvibes

I'm in too. As most of you know, I had gastric bypass in October and to date I've lost 50 pounds. I still need help keeping on track with the eating program which is really strict. For example, I can have 3 Tablespoons of protein and 1 Tablespoon of vegetables. No fruit, no soda, no candy. Nothing I really love.

I also need to pick up my exercise program. That's where I need the most accountability. Right now I should be walking up to 3 miles away. Please help motivate me to do this.

Glynis, a very good friend of mine had the surgery in September I think it was, she is down 104 lbs, she tries to walk but has also been bad but got me motivated to walk on the treadmill with her and I bought one so plan on walking strting tomorrow when I am back at work.

This thread has really helped..i was feeling lazy and saw this thread--i went and worked out! my scale said 146 today, im sure its water weight coming off-but its nice to see a lower number!

That is the most wonderful feeling to me. I've been trying to get those numbers to go down for 15 years, but never saw it happen (unless I was pregnant. That's the only time I ever lost weight). Now I'm seeing the numbers go down, and seriously, I want to cry with joy each time I see the downsizing.

I have been on a bit of a plateau this last week. It's been frustrating, but I know it's only because it's "that time" for me. Once it's over I should start seeing a difference.

Well, my treadmill is not working. DH is going to look at it when he gets home from work, but I'm afraid that it is dead. Guess I'll just have to bundle up against the weather, strap on my pedometer and get going outside. With school starting up again tomorrow, I should have more "me" time to work out with. Wish me luck!

Sorry I was offline until today. I've been a bit naughty today, but we're going to have a healthy dinner tonight instead of going out like we usually would. Maybe we can cross-post this to the Budget Board. I think I'll be saving quite a bit of money and get healthier to boot.

I have PMs to go through and will send out invites to the Discover Body Challenge in a little while. I'll update our member list next time I post.
