I slept most of yesterday evening after we got the girls settled in. I still feel pretty miserable so Eric took the girls to his parents to swim. I am headed for a nap on the couch.

Virginia has started crawling on her hands and knees.

Just got a call from my doctor's office. The results of the AFP screening came back with an abnormality in the area of Down's. I'm still not too upset, but the nurse did mention that my chances of having a baby with Down's are now 1 in 100. She's making me an appointment with the high risk ultrasound doctor. Keep your fingers crossed that she can work me in today or tomorrow. Otherwise I have to wait until after our camping trip. I don't know if my nerves could take that. Truthfully, this came as a bit of a shock, since I've never had one of these come back positive. On the good side, I'll get to find out the sex of the baby sooner!

Glynis - when I pregnant with Kristin my initial AFP screening came back in the abnormal range too. I was on vacation and could not get the test redone for 2 weeks. My second screening was better and the ultrasound looked pretty good. I could not have amniocentesis because of the placement of the placenta. I understand your shock and nervousness. I will be thinking of you and Alan and your precious bundle.

I remember with my 4, that my doctor didn't recommend the test due to the unreliability of it. I am hoping that this is a false positive for you
