DDA Chapter 8

TMI Skip if you'd like.

Chris helped me do a bikini wax tonight. I Cannot imagine going somewhere and paying someone to do it. I'm not even sure that I'd do it again...EVER. It was very painful, but I hate to shave frequently and since I will be wearing a bathing suit for 3 weeks I hoped it would help. At one point I was hoping that I would pass out as he could have finished while I was unconscious :lmao: Of course I was thinking that this was a test run and I'd do it again before the trip. What the heck was I thinking :confused3 i wish someone had warned me :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I must say that I have an amazing husband. He must really love me to intentionally inflict that much pain :lmao:
Um, you needed to be warned that that was going to be excrutiatingly painful?????:rotfl:

thanks for all the Birthday wishes!

I will try not to abandon you all again. :)

As Bernadette said. Things got really weird for a while on the Disboutique thread, and I just had enough.:( (I should know better than to stray away from all of my dear friends here!) :hippie: But I just had to step away for a couple of weeks!

Tom

Its understandable to want to get away. Heck I did it a couple of times, and it had nothing to do with the DIS.

Welcome home, Vicki!!!

Jennifer and Kyle...

We can't wait to meet them either!

Ditto!!!!

Kristin told me last night that she would love to go to WDW for her birthday in August. I could do it for $1000 plus food. Now, if only I could figure out how to come up with an additional $1000 during the time of year I barely get a paycheck...

When in August?!

Also, keep in mind the new $15 charge (each way) for the first bag for American, United and at least one other airline. It isn't as easy at just looking at the cost of flight anymore. Now, you have to look at the cost for luggage. Crazy days!

USAir is starting July 9th.

Yeah, They love my new hairdo...................................:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

They are super excited about the trip though I think today they are more excited that tomorrow is the last day of school :goodvibes

I love your new hairdo, too! We have one week and one day until the last day of school here!

The girls like to get a picture of themselves and the cast member wait staff when they are exceptional. Here they are with my niece and nephew at CRT. He was absolutely an awesome waiter. One of the best (and we've had some great ones).

What a great idea and a terrific picture!

I used LeonsMom's stick figures to make a custom design for all of us. I thought I had the picture on my computer of all of us in them but I must not have gotten them off Katrina's camera yet. I'll post them later. Here is the design. We put them on yellow shirts and wore them to Cirque du Soleil.

Very cute! :thumbsup2

We would be there from August 1-4. I agree that life is short and the kids grew up and some things are not about money. But the money has to be there, you know! If (and this is a big if) airfare stays the same and if a windfall comes into my life, you can bet we will be at WDW in August.
Oh...too early for me. I hope you find an extra $1000!

It certainly is! Our first summer trip was 10 years ago next month. It was the year of the major wildfires and temps over 100 in Florida. YUCK!

Then I found myself taking Kristin for her birthday for 4 years in August. I was so sure she would never want to go back; she took my completely by surprise!

Our first trip with the kids (only 2 of them then) was in May, 1998. It was already hot and dry then, but nothing like July and August. For our trip we were quite happy that there was no rain, but we felt bad for the people of Florida.

We had two bus waits that were about 25 minutes. My nephew says they waited once for 35 minutes (I'm not sure how accurate this was but it was the only time they were concerned). Otherwise, they were mostly under 15 minutes.

It was actually better on this trip than it was in March. I did go in and report one of the long waits. We were waiting for the Magic Kingdom bus (during one of the 25 minute waits) and 4 Animal Kingdom buses came within a 10 minute time frame during that time.

It is unbelievable that a company as advanced as Disney has such an archaic system that requires a man to sit in a van at the Magic Kingdom bus stop to tell the bus drivers where to go next.

Well, at least I am reading lots of reports that they are TRYING to fix it! Good to know! I don't want to spend all that money on a rental car, but if we extend our stay at SSR and the waits for buses really do take an hour every single time we would spend FORTY hours waiting for a bus. :faint: I know it probably wouldn't be an hour EVERY time, but still...

Um, you needed to be warned that that was going to be excrutiatingly painful?????:rotfl:

:rotfl2:

Glad to have you posting again, Tom! :)

No AP rates today. I didn't expect them to be out since the website worked all weekend, but I thought I would call and check anyway!

Wow a night alone in your house. That happens for me about once every couple of years. I hope you enjoyed it.

I don't think that has happened to me in over 17 years.

It appears that a hasty departure from WDW would cost about $450 round trip. And that's just ME leaving - DS and DH would stay at WDW. Yikes. :scared1:

I think I need some DDA pixie dust that everything goes REALLY WELL on Tuesday, and that Mom's follow up treatment won't involve too many brutal procedures and chemicals.

I'm a Kennywood kid, although I did make it Cedar Point/Geagua Lake/Sea Word a few times.
Oh, Kennywood! I've always wanted to go there. I went to a similar park, Idora Park in Youngstown, OH, many times growing up. I am so sad that it is gone.

That is the only thing that saved this trip for us. We had to split up. My sister didn't want to lead but she didn't want to follow. Once we split up for most the day, we were fine.

The time that we went to WDW with my brother's family and my parents, we split up a majority of the time. We would have all been miserable if we had stayed together.

How is the book coming? I love the Harry Potter books! I wish I could find something that keeps my attention as much as those did. The first three chapters of the first book were slow reading for me. I wasn't sure I would be able to read the whole thing. Once I got into the 4th chapter, I was one of those crazy people that read until 2 or 3 in the morning - which is unheard of for me.

Try the Twilight series!

Riley tried out for the All Star baseball team a couple of weeks ago & we found out last night he made the cut :thumbsup2

This is a traveling team, so I am a little nervous about the weekends & overnight stays. I work weekends, so I am not sure how this is going to work out. Guess I will find out all the details at the parents meeting!

Both Lilo & Stitch were at Typhoon Lagoon. They took turns at being there for pictures.

I didn't know that they had characters at the water parks!

They both picked BB. They love the zip line and life guard training camp! Hunter also likes Summit Plummit

We will have to put BB on the schedule for this trip. It's just so hard to leave TL, because we love it so much!

Chanon the quilt is beautiful! Love all of your gifts :thumbsup2

Ditto!

Thank you! I had planned on BB but then the shark reef sounded interesting, but not interesting enought that you just swim across and that's it.

The shark swim wouldn't draw me to TL either, but we just can't get enough of the wave pool.

Kirsten got all geared up for this...gets into the water and says, "you mean there are fish in here right now?? she then immediately got out :rotfl:
:rotfl: :rotfl: My parents, brother, and I went to Cancun shortly before I got married. I went snorkeling a little, but somehow every time I saw a fish come close, I found myself back up on the beach.

The shark reef is great, but Hunter had trouble with the snorkel and Colby wasn't tall enough to even try.

I didn't realize that there was a height requirement. Miles tried it the year he turned 5, but he had trouble with the mask leaking. I can't remember if he did it last time.

The line for shark reef was really long when we were last there. We had to split up as Colby wasn't able to do it so one of us hung out in the sunken ship looking at the fish with Colby while the other waited in line. The water is freezing too. It isn't something that the boys have mentioned doing again.

I probably wouldn't wait in a line for it either, but I'm glad that I've done it a couple of times.

Have I mentioned how thoroughly irritated I am at all the people getting postcards with PINs for August? Some of those people already had trips booked and are calling to get the discount applied. None of the August DDAers have gotten postcards!

I think I'd rather not even know about those postcards with PINs. I was hoping to see one in my mailbox, but NOPE!

TMI Skip if you'd like.

That is one thing that I have never had the "pleasure" of experiencing. And after reading this, I doubt I ever will.

Since we have Premium APs waterparks are included. We like to go early and spend a couple of hours there then leave when it gets hot and busy. Going early lets us do everything and gets us out early :thumbsup2 Both are must dos for our family though Blizzard Beach wins hands down.
That's what we like to do, too. And I'm definitely putting BB on the list.

Yay for Riley!!

I think BB is our water park of choice for this trip. I just have single day passes, so we have to pick one or the other.

Good morning! :)

Hhhmmmm............what shall I do today???? AAaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh

I wonder if we have any new DDA babies yet?

Janet,
Congrats to Riley! Hope you can get the weekend travel figured out!:thumbsup2

Tammi,
Enjoy your time off.

Chanon,
Beautiful gifts! You look so happy!

Deb,
Ouch!

Tom,
We don't bite like they do on the other boards!!!:lmao: Good to see you again!

:) Good morning everyone!

Today is the first day of Daniel's summer vacation. We didn't have to get up early! yay!! Except Dana got up at 5:30am to head to a meeting & he gets dresses rather "noisely" so I was up anyway but at least I wasn't running around trying to get Dan ready.

I am taking Dan for a haircut & then out for lunch.

Have a great day!

I need to get moving & get ready for work.

Jennifer & Kyle I am thinking of you both & your 2 little miracles :goodvibes

Elizabeth maybe Wednesday AP rates will be released :confused3 I am honestly starting to think it will not be till next week or later. Usually some info leaks before they are out & I have heard nothing :worried:

Have a great day all!
