DDA Chapter 8

Have you guys heard of Midwest Airlines? I am looking at flights/fares between Orlando and KC, and Midwest is cheapest. American, SW and Airtran are all more expensive. Stupid American would send me to Dallas FIRST, and send me to Chicago on the way back. SW is direct but over $300. Airtran is direct on one leg, but takes me to Milwaukee for 3 hours on the other leg. :headache: Of course the dates are completely theoretical, I am just trying to know what to expect!

Also, keep in mind the new $15 charge (each way) for the first bag for American, United and at least one other airline. It isn't as easy at just looking at the cost of flight anymore. Now, you have to look at the cost for luggage. Crazy days!

We had no trouble with checking our extra bags at the resort. I called Baggs and they told me just to tell them that we bought our tickets in January (before the price increase) and if they had any issues to have them call Baggs. This worked when the girls left and when I left. I assume it worked for my sister and mom as well because I didn't hear otherwise.

Deb,
Your hair looks great!

Are the boys excited???

Yeah, They love my new hairdo...................................:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

They are super excited about the trip though I think today they are more excited that tomorrow is the last day of school :goodvibes

They boys gave Chris his Father's Day gifts. They each had a card for him and they gave him the race scanner and headsets. He spent a good part of the morning figuring the new gadget out. Now he's got his Toyota bag packed with the scanner set, sunblock and a hiney pad. I guess he's all set for the race. Now if he remembers to put the bag IN the camper he will be all set.

The girls like to get a picture of themselves and the cast member wait staff when they are exceptional. Here they are with my niece and nephew at CRT. He was absolutely an awesome waiter. One of the best (and we've had some great ones).

Thanks for all the compliments on the hair. I think it will be much easier at WDW.

Amy thank you :worship: :worship: for the super skinny comment. I must properly thank my photographer ;)

I ran into Kmart today looking for some blank T's for yet another shirt project and found the cutest red with white polka dot shorts for my niece. Of course I bought them :rolleyes1 Now we'll have to extra customize the shirts that we are making to match her shorts.

I used LeonsMom's stick figures to make a custom design for all of us. I thought I had the picture on my computer of all of us in them but I must not have gotten them off Katrina's camera yet. I'll post them later. Here is the design. We put them on yellow shirts and wore them to Cirque du Soleil.

Kristin told me last night that she would love to go to WDW for her birthday in August. I could do it for $1000 plus food. Now, if only I could figure out how to come up with an additional $1000 during the time of year I barely get a paycheck...

WHEN in August? Because I think I heard there might be a few people we know at WDW in August. :rolleyes1
And really, what's $1000? Life is short, kids grow up, some things are not about money. Come to the dark side, Elin. You can do it!

Chuck & I made it home about 8pm last night. Uneventful flight for us. The girls had an interesting experience on their way home on Thursday. They ended up in Detroit for at least 6 hours. Due to someone getting sick on the inbound flight to Orlando, their initial flight was delayed so that they missed their connection by just a few minutes (it was still on the ground but already closed up). They got on the next flight scheduled for 3 hours later but that kept getting delayed because bad weather delayed their flight crew. They finally got in to Green Bay around 2:30 am. We had them stay in a motel down there for the night.

Welcome home! Sorry the girls had such a time getting back! I hope your mom & sister got things sorted out for their flight!
If I had to leave WDW I would likely just bring my carry on. Well, that's what I would do if it looked like I was going back to WDW for the end of the trip. If it looked like I would be going home from KC I would have to try to have the second leg of my existing ticket re-routed. What a joy THAT would be! :headache:

Glad to hear you were able to check the bags without any problems! :cool1:

What a great tradition and a super picture, Vicky! Welcome home to you and Chuck. I hope the airline woes were not so bad for your sister, her kids and your Mom. I will be interested to see what happened!

We would be there from August 1-4. I agree that life is short and the kids grew up and some things are not about money. But the money has to be there, you know! If (and this is a big if) airfare stays the same and if a windfall comes into my life, you can bet we will be at WDW in August.

We leave just 3 weeks from tomorrow at o dark thirty in the morning. I'm very excited now, but still have a ton of things to accomplish. I know that I need to make a few new autograph book pages. Hopefully we'll start to see reports of Star Wars characters soon and I will know which to make. It might just be easier to take blank pages and get them signed and create a page when we get home  I did that with Bowler Hat Guy last year and you'd never know that the page was created after the fact.

I'm off to tackle my kitchen.

They had a flyer called The Bounty Hunter's Guide to Star Wars Weekends with pictures of many of the characters and descriptions.

Anakin Skywalker
Chewbacca
Darth Maul
Boba Fett
Zam Wesell
Princess Leia Organa
Darth Vader
Gamorrean Guard
R2-D2
Ahsoka
Jango Fett
Stormtroopers
Aurra Sing
Jawas
Queen Amidala (Padme)
Mace Windu
Luke Skywalker
Sand People
Ewoks
Jedi Mickey
Leia Minnie
Vader Goofy
Stormtrooper Donald
Kit Fisto
Cantina Band
Shaak Ti
Clone Troopers

I can scan it for you if you are interested.

I doubt Chuck and I will ever do another trip in June-August. Chuck now understands why Chris and the boys wear their swimsuits all day. :lmao: It was so hot.

It certainly is! Our first summer trip was 10 years ago next month. It was the year of the major wildfires and temps over 100 in Florida. YUCK!

Then I found myself taking Kristin for her birthday for 4 years in August. I was so sure she would never want to go back; she took my completely by surprise!

Thanks Janet and all others that wished us a happy day. When we got to Disney on the 6th, I asked for the Anniversary buttons and told them our anniversary was the 7th (it actually is for our first date-we married 363 days later on June 5th). On the 7th, they delivered a couple of balloons and a signed Mickey/Minnie print to our room. That was really nice!!!

Hope the rain holds off, have fun!

We're headed to Six Flags right after church. Hopefully the storms threatening for late afternoon will pass us by.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day today!

Elizabeth, I got the Annual Pass 2nd pin in the series. I'll get them sent this week (well, I'll tell Chuck they have to be sent so they get sent this week :lmao: ).

My kids are with their dad and won't be back until tomorrow afternoon. Bob and Bethany went out of town to visit his mom. What should I do with myself this evening?

Wow a night alone in your house. That happens for me about once every couple of years. I hope you enjoyed it.
