Colby and I just made 70 + mini crepes. He wanted pancakes for breakfast, but I needed to make crepes to put in the camper freezer. He didn't even know the difference :rotfl2: He enjoyed helping. We used heart molds and mickey head molds so we could make 5 at a time. One more item off my to do list.

I'm off to CLEAN Colby's room. That was the storage area for the last couple of months :rolleyes1

well I bet Colby will be happy....pancakes AND his room completely back all in one day:rotfl2:

I just found bugs in Colby's room  I have no idea what they are, but they are freaking me out. I need to call an exterminator, but there aren't any listed in the yellow pages :confused3 This is not good at all.

Anne Marie, CONGRATULATIONS to Katie!!! Does middle school start in 6th or 7th grade there? Do they actually take the English Regents in middle school? Do they take the Global (social studies) Regents in middle school, too? Which science will she be taking? I think your school system is way ahead of ours.
Middle school starts at 7th grade. Yes they take english regents in 7,8, & 9 grade. Not sure about anything else they take. we have a meeting in October for the parents to fill us in on what happens in school. It's so wierd, I remember my 1st day of Jr High like it was yesterday & now my little girl will be going.

yuck!! How the heck are there no exterminators in the yellow pages??:confused3

Oh no Deb!!!! Do you think you could get away with just using a bug killer spray as opposed to an exterminator? Good luck!!!

I think I am all set for Daniel's last day of school tomorrow. I bought his 2 main teachers gift cards from Barnes & Noble. While I was there I got the books the kids need for summer reading.

Funny Katie & Daniel have to read the same book (The Big Wave by Pearl Buck) . She is not going to like that at all. We try not to emphasize Daniels abilities in front of her but things like this annoy the crap out of her & justifiably so.

Anyway, besides the teachers giftcards, I got his bus driver a gift card to dunkin donuts as I have no idea what he would want. He is a young man & very nice but I don't think B&N would have been a good choice..can't go wrong with dunkin I guess.

And here's a question for you...if you had 12 nights at the world would you do a split stay or just stay put?

I just called Orkin. They won't even come to the house unless we are willing to sign a one year contract :confused3 I have no idea what the pest is or how they go about treating it so why would I agree to any contract before they come out :confused3

sounds like a great gift.

Cassidy is the same way with Abi's abilities and vice versa...Abi is more scholarly and Cassidy has more of the inate musical talent. It has driven Cassidy nuts that Abi has always read at a higher grade level. Abi is thrilled this summer that she plays an instrument better than her sister. Hard to find the balance. ::yes::

I think with 12 nights I would do a split stay. Maybe even a triple stay. ;)

You are right, it is hard to find a balance. Daniel's work (he is in 3rd grade) sometimes surpasses hers (she's in 6th) & sometimes they are working on the same thing. Unfortately she has had to go to her brother for help once or twice which makes her even more surly than usual. :(

That stinks. Anyone else you can call..or can you get some bug killer/spray to try to get rid of them yourself? Is the swarm too big?

I think with 12 nights I would do a split stay. Maybe even a triple stay. ;)
Hmmm...I am thinking about it for August. You know I love my BC but I was thinking it would be fun to try somewhere we have never gone. I have always like the feeling at the AKL & since we will have our own car I am not concerned with the buses. Also thinking about the Contemporary..not sure. I just would hate to go somewhere else & not love it & then think I wasted my time not going to the BC. I felt that way at the Boardwalk..

Super extra pixiedust: for that!!! I would be :scared1: :scared1: !

Here the English Regents exam is taken only once in January of the junior year. It is a 6-hour exam taken over two days. I am pretty sure that ours was not back in the Dark Ages when I was in school. It's amazing how much things have changed but also the things that have stayed the same.

I know that feeling, too. It is so hard to believe how quickly these kids of our grow up!

I haven't even thought about end-of-the-year gifts yet. Miles has so many teachers that come into his classroom throughout the day. I think they are mostly extra support for some of the kids who are struggling, but they do help the entire class. I don't even know who they all are, though. I think I'll just go with one for his main teacher. I feel bad for all the specials teachers that get left out.

Laura already knows that she has to read Lord of the Flies and do a packet on that for English next year. I don't know what other summer assignments we are looking at, though.

Good question about the split stay...I think that I would probably split the stay, but I don't know...

Take a picture for us, and we'll help you research to figure out what they are.

I can understand why that would make her a little surly. Laura feels like she isn't as intelligent as Matthew which really isn't true. I can't convince her of that, though. I'm sure that Katie has strengths that you emphasize for her, but it still has to be hard to ask her "little" brother for help sometimes. At least when Laura needs help, she's asking her older brother.

Oh, I think that I would love to try AKL some day, and I'm sure that Laura would flip over it. We had a great stay at CR, too, and there is something so magical about staying that close to MK.

Yes, Katie is doing very well in school but sometimes i can see her being alittle jealous of her brother which she swears she is not. I asked her if she wanted to go to Daniel's school (it goes up to 9th grade) & she said "no, they are all nerds!" :rolleyes1

I reminded her that "nerds" started Apple & Pixar. Also her father is a nerd & I love him!:lmao:

We're kind of a family of nerds ourselves, though without the drive to do something as great as start Apple or Pixar.

Interesting article from CNN regarding SW.

Also, United is now charging for the first checked bag.

Useless Air (I mean USAir) isn't charging for the first checked bag yet, is it? I'm really hoping to take two checked bags for the three of us, but I probably will consolidate to one if I have to pay for it. Also, do you pay for the entire flight or each leg?

ETA: Went to their website and answered my own question. No charge (yet) for 1st checked bag.

Airlines seem to be charging for EACH WAY. So that's $25 down and $25 back.
Mom and I joke that we should tell the airlines that they need to have two flight attendants and just show a video to tell you how to buckle up and use the O2 masks. When they scan your ticket at the door, they give you a bottle of water and that be the end of it. If you really think about it, it's a glorified bus - and you don't really see a flight attendant on a bus. (Though I'm sure a captain won't restock a roll of TP for the bathroom.) ;)
