DDA Chapter 8

Ugh, I hate that! I'm glad no large trees caused any damage at least! Good luck getting it all cleaned up :wizard: And good thinking about the garage door opener! I have a key on my ring (that I have never used :rotfl: ) so I would at least be ok, but that has never crossed my mind!
I only know about it because it actually happened to me. One day during the first summer that we lived there, I was out with the kids. When we came home, no power. No key. No way in. So we ended up sitting at our neighbors house for a half-hour or so. There were rolling blackouts because the temps had gotten so high that all the a/c's were running full force. So after that, my neighbor has a key, and I have one hidden. I hate having a lot of keys on my key ring. So it's just the van key and the keyless remote, which doesn't work now anyway. :rolleyes2 So I guess I really need to rethink this whole key situation now.

Elin-I could so picture the scene you set for your recitals. I am sorry the power went out but I am glad the recitals went on.

Tammi-I am sorry you lost a tree but I am glad your house wasn't hurt.
Too bad you all weren't dressed in old-timey garb.

Thanks. I think the birds are disappointed though. They always sat in that tree and chirped, right outside my bedroom window, at the buttcrack of dawn. Maybe I should be glad. :teeth:

Sorry about the tree. :(
My friend and her DH lived in a townhouse when they first got married and there was a tree right outside the bedroom window. She got so aggravated with the chirping that she went out at 6 AM and beat on the tree with a broom to scare them away! :lmao:

Theresa - Hope the wrist isn't too painful! :wizard:

I need to get off my butt. I want to see about exchanging those shorts at Macy's, and I need to return the giant ones to Nordstrom. I need to find a fax machine so I can submit DS's camp enrollment. Blah blah blah.

WTG Riley on the great doubleheader!!!

Wow Marci!! I realized the boys played well but second in the nation is awesome!!!!

Jen-I would have agreed with you about the decision if there had been any "carvings" in the second place cake...and they were only 2nd by 2 points.

Did the Nemo cake have any carvings? The "waves"? I know all the characters were sugar art and fondant, like the Bugs Life characters. The wave cakes might have been carved though. The judges said her cake was very "clean" which is definitely true... but that's not often a big deal to them, which is why we were surprised. We were also surprised at how bad the other two were! Usually, they are all very close in quality!

Congrats, Riley!

Marci, congrats to the boys for a great weekend!

Elin, The recital sounds like it went well regardless of the problems. Your students should be prould. BTW, did you ever find out anything else about the piano school you had me call? Are you coming to Atlanta?

Tammi, sorry about your tree, but I"m glad you didn't have any damage!

Theresa, I hope your wrist is ok today.

Chanon, I missed the cake show. I'd love to see the one you were talking about!

Jen, when is your scheduled date? My kiddos' b'day is June 23... only 3 weeks away. ;)

Anne Marie, thanks for the info on the cruise. The room sounds really cute. My room was purple growing up.

Deb, congrats on almost being done with projects! And you are a smart mom about Colby's room. Maybe that will be some extra motivation!

I did feel bad for Sully!! the other one just stunk....why make a cake that's all about the accessorie and not the characters???

It seems there is almost always one that falls apart. I was incredibly impressed with how the competitors handled it! The lead was by far the most down to earth I've ever seen anyone react in that situation! Still, they HAD to know the door was going to fall apart at least! :confused3

After receiving flack about my last belly picture ;), I thought I'd share one I just did for my mom the other day.... it's hopefully the last! :yo-yo::upsidedow

You look fantastic Jennifer!

Thanks  You should watch me walking around though, with the stupid joint issues. I look like the oldest, most out of shape 24 year old in existence! :rolleyes1 We all think I seriously look like the perfect caricature of a pregnant lady who is (supposedly) about to burst! :rotfl:

I can't imagine. I only carried one and could barely walk around the block with Becky. With Katrina, I was playing co-ed softball until half way through my 7th month. I only stopped because I would get pain running around the bases. Katrina was born 5 weeks early. Though the Dr. and I had a disagreement because I told him she was due at end of September and he told me end of October. I still say he was wrong but he says the tests showed that she was premature. Her lung wasn't fully developed so she had to be in an oxygen isolette. Becky was 10 days early.

Jennifer - that is a beautiful picture. :goodvibes:

Are you sure that there are twins in there? I was bigger than that with just one :rolleyes1

I swear we must be twins. Nick was 10 days early and I was huge and uncomfortable with him. I played co ed softball while pregnant with Hunter, into my 7th month, but made the whole season. They made me play outfield though  Hunter was 5 weeks early and 7 lbs 3 oz. He did not look like a premie, but they said he was.

I'm making slow progress on the computer armoire. I cannot believe how much dust accumulated in there. I ended up taking the CPU apart and taking it out in the shop to use the air compressor to blow the dust KITTIES out :faint: I'm suprised that it was even working with the amount of dust in there. :rolleyes1 I suppose I should do that to the desktop in our bedroom at some point.

I still have 1/2 the cabinet to clean so it's back to work for me.

Jennifer - that is a beautiful picture. :goodvibes:

Thanks! We took it mostly because my mother likes to just snap random pictures all the time since we don't give her "enough" belly shots (mostly at the request of my aunt in Saudi, who adores pregnancy... which is a whole different story :)). I try to tell her repeatedly, that a picture of my with my mouth wide open, my eyes half closed, mid-sentence or mid-bite is simply NOT flattering, pregnant or not. :rotfl:

Are you sure that there are twins in there? I was bigger than that with just one :rolleyes1

Oh, I'm positive! I'm measuring 43+ weeks at my last visit (about 10 weeks ahead, which is crazy for "just" twins actually! They're somehow growing so well!), so I assure you it's plenty big enough! ;) I think that it's just LITERALLY 100% full of baby. Even my OBs have fun palpating my belly, because there isn't a single spot on it that you can't touch and identify the whole, hard shape of a specific body part - anywhere! :rotfl: I mostly just feel sorry for the girls, they can't be comfortable anymore, tangled up without a centimeter of free space!

I played 1st base. It sure psyched out the other team! :lmao: Katrina was 6 lbs 1 oz and Becky was 6 lb. 5 oz. I was even more sure that the Dr. was wrong about Katrina when Becky was born and wasn't much bigger than Katrina had been.
