I'm glad that you're home safely. Was that your last trip to Lansing before your trip?

I'm glad your Mother finally retired. Hopefully she will have a great summer with your sister and her kids. It sounds like they could all use a change of pace.

Yes, I only have 5 days before our trip. We drive to Green Bay Thursday night and take an early flight on Friday morning. I won't be going to Lansing before then. I do have a lot of work to complete before my trip though - both personal and professional! :scared1:

I am hoping that it is good for all of them to have mom there for the summer. I'm not too sure about that. I have a feeling that Chuck will be getting lots of calls from both of them! :lmao: Chuck is both their sounding boards. Did I tell you what a great man he is?

It seems I'm here alone again. It was a very long and exhausting day.

After I logged off last night I heard sirens and saw flashing lights. I investigated and found the emergency rescue squad parked in the street in front of our house. There was an ambulance, rescue truck, fire truck and several cars. All the men had flashlights and were searching the bushes along the road. After several minutes of watching out the window I woke Chris up. We were both baffled. We finally saw them grab a back board and head down over the hill into the bushes/woods. We couldn't stand the wondering any longer and went outside to investigate. The finally came up with a man strapped to the board. They put him in the ambulance and spent a long time working on him. One of the firefighters that we know came over. He said that they had received a 911 call that brought them to the general area. The man was non responsive, but had left the phone connected so they could hear the sirens at the dispatch station and knew where to stop the ambulance. They they could hear the firefighters yelling which finally helped them locate the man. He was non responsive and no one knew where he had come from or what had happened. Needless to say we went to bed baffled. We learned today that the man had gotten drunk and was apparently walking on the road when he needed to pee. He walked into the bushes not knowing that it was a steep embankment and fell. He couldn't get up so he called 911 before he passed out :confused3 Very strange indeed. So we finally came in at 1 AM.

Wow! That was strange.

I slept much later than I had intended and we didn't get started on our project until 9:30. My parents joined us around 10. We got the floor finished, well other than a couple of closets, but that will wait until after vacation. My Mom did all of the window and door trim as well as cleaning up the kitchen while we did the floor. I taught Nick how to measure and how to use a jigsaw so he spent several hours helping me cut the pieces. He did a great job. That took us until about 5 PM. After dinner Dad cut the baseboard and I did all of the ceiling touch up as the masking tape pulled paint off when we removed it :furious: Mom and Chris then painted all of the baseboards. We were able to start installing the baseboard sometime after 8 PM and installed enough to put the entertainment center back in place as well as the couch and chairs. We've decided not to put one chair back as it was falling apart and we don't want to harm the floor. The space looks so large without the carpeting. Somehow the oak flooring gives a much larger space. We are not finished, but things are starting to pull together. Tomorrow we have a fishing derby in the morning. After that we will go to my parent's house and remove the pool cover and open the pool. I also have to be at work at 4 PM. Obviously nothing will get done here tomorrow so I'll have to hit it again on Monday. I'll post photos once we pull it all together.

I'm off to get ready for bed. By the time I finish brushing my teeth, Becky should be home. If she needs to talk, I'll chat with her and then head to bed. Goodnight DDA. Talk to you tomorrow!

That was Spring 73 so I would turn 5 that July.

Guess what I was doing that July????

I'll be testing it next week!

Yay for next week! :cool1: I printed off the page from American that states NO FEE for bags on tickets purchased before May and stapled it to the papers I printed when I booked the fares back in November. We'll see if it helps!

Tammi - I hope the guy gives you a low appraisal! :wizard:

Deb & Janet - Yay for home improvements in the final stages!

We had a great dinner and exceptional company at the restaurant. I also had a wonderful cup of coffee with dessert and am still W I D E awake! I need to go to bed because I have a very full day tomorrow, but here I sit! :)

Since no one else has posted in over an hour I think I will say good night to myself and say good morning to anyone who comes on here before I get back up again! :wave2:

I should be able to do this -- just remind me again in a couple of weeks. I hope life seems easier for you now and I'm still sending PD to your DAd.

It's nearly midnight and I'm finally caught up. I didn't find time to check in at all today. The good news is that I finished painting the walls :goodvibes I still have trim and ceiling touch up to conquer, but the incredibly stressful walls are done. Tomorrow we plan to finish laying the flooring. things finally seem to be coming together. I can see tiny light at the end of the tunnel

Good for you -- sounds like you are still making good progress.

Oh and the appraisor comes tonight, so if you could throw some pixie dust my way for a low appraisor, I would REALLY appreciate it!

I'm sending good thoughts!

We just got home from baseball & in the nick of time too. Thunderstorms have arrived & it's pouring!

Daniel's team won 8-5!!! Daniel was given the game ball. Bases were loaded, 2 stikes, when the ball came flying towards him at 2nd base & he caught it, threw to 1st & got 2 out!!! Inning over!

He was so proud & all his teammates were too. And he didn't even want to go to baseball this morning!:rolleyes1

Congrats to him!

Anne Marie - Yay for Daniel's great catch!
Your photos are so cool! What nice memories!

Elin - I think those are very nice gifts! :thumbsup2

DS really enjoyed CATS. :goodvibes It was a good performance! I'll have to keep an eye on the upcoming shows in case there is something else he might like.

I'm so glad he liked it. We have tickets to HS Musical, but it will depend on the sports schedule.

We are in Waco. The team won a game, lost a game, and tied. We'll play tomorrow at 10:30. Andrew played all of the second and third games today and did well. Sending PD out to al of those who need it.

Theresa - I hope you soon get some relief for your wrist. It must be painful and a pain trying to manage your day-to-day life.

Marci - Sounds as if the tournament is going fairly well. I hope you enjoy another day today! :)

I am off to the school this morning to finish setting up for the Senior Recital at 1:30. Then I have recitals in our library's theater from 4-9. I hope everyone has a spectacular day! :goodvibes

Anne Marie, what category did you book for your family on DCL?

We booked 2 cat 10's deluxe inside stateroom. We were mid ship deck 2 (near the conference center) & found it to be a great location. Very quiet at night & easy to walk up the stairs to decks 3 & 4. Also easy access to the elevators.
We had the rooms set up as 1 queen & the other set up for the 3 kids (3 twin beds) . Having the 2 bathrooms, 2 tubs, & 4 sinks was wonderful as everyone was able to get ready for dinner without stepping on each other. It was also nice to have for Dana & I to have our own room.

Here are our cabins. This is how it was set up when we first boarded.

Later in the cruise, our beds were turned down every night.

The kid's cabin. The couch folds out inot a daybed which was as large as the twin beds.
