Adorable pictures Anne Marie. How old were you?
That was Spring 73 so I would turn 5 that July.

For everyone who has cruised (DCL and others), what would you suggest for a 1st time cruise? John is terrified of the idea (the idea that something would happen and we'd be separated from the kids), but is willing to go since the kids and I want to. DCL is very expensive, and I noticed that RCL's Freedom of the Seas will be out of PC next summer. We can do a week on it for a 3 or 4 day DCL. Any advice or tips are appreciated.
I think a 4 day is the perfect cruise for 1st timers. It gives you enough time to see if you really like it but you are not comitted to a week or more. Having only done one cruise (DCL) I would highly recommend doing the 4 day with DCL. It spoiled us!!!

we had tornadoes in the area again along with out T'storms. :worried:

Bob and I are leaving in a minute for the Charlottesville area to have dinner at a restaurant with 12 other friends! Bavarian Chef.... here we come!
Oh no for bad weather! Have fun tonight!

Anne Marie - Yay for Daniel's great catch!
Your photos are so cool! What nice memories!
Thank you!

Anne Marie-the pictures are great!!
Thanks!!

Well disregard my last post, still not much thunder, but the rain was... whoa. They are still calling for severe thunderstorms that could produce penny size hail and damaging winds. :faint:
 stay safe!

Ann Marie, nice pictures.
Thank you!

:confused3 not horrible if I keep the pain meds up but not great either.

Thanks for asking
Well keep pumping in those pain meds!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Thanks Tammi and Ann Marie.

Just got over another storm and this one was worst then the last. I don't think I'll get much sleeping done tonight if these storms keep up. :worried:

Elin
Hope there wasn't any real bad damage. :wizard:

How was dinner?

We are here!!!:banana::banana:

Too tired to post right now...I updated the trip report. Check in with you guys tomorrow....

FYI, Kristine updated her TR.

ETA: Hi Kristine. We were posting at the same time. Get some rest so you can go commando tomorrow!

Well the appraisor came. He was here for about an hour, measuring, drawing and making notes. He seemed very nice, and I asked a lot of questions. By his own admission, he stated that he tends to be more on the conservative side, as the underwriters are holding them to task more because of how poor the market is. He should have a report by Wednesday.

Good morning, DDA! Well, the banana bread is in the oven (Thanks for your yummy recipe, Vicki! I use it all the time now.)

I'm so glad to hear that someone is enjoying our family recipe! :lovestruc I don't know that I have ever had better tasting banana bread. It is one of the few recipes that I think is special that was passed down in my family.

Bernadette- i got jack.very cute. how much do i owe you? thank you
Don't really remember-wasn't his price tag still on? Around $12 maybe.

It's nearly midnight and I'm finally caught up. I didn't find time to check in at all today. The good news is that I finished painting the walls :goodvibes I still have trim and ceiling touch up to conquer, but the incredibly stressful walls are done. Tomorrow we plan to finish laying the flooring. things finally seem to be coming together. I can see tiny light at the end of the tunnel
:woohoo:

I have SO many pictures ( took over 600!) and so many stories to tell you guys when I get back , if ya wanna hear that is :)) Ill be home late tomorrow night and chances are the pictures will be uploaded before i go to bed!
Can not wait to hear your stories and see photos.

Good Morning DDA,

We're back and relaxed after enjoying the beautiful waters of Mexico,

taras115.jpg
Beautiful!

Here's my favorite little guy and a friend he met in Progreso,

mexico.jpg
How cute! He looks so big!

And a very rare sight, dressing up for my family means putting on our good jeans. I had my hair cut the day before we left, it looked good when she fixed it but I can't get it to look good for anything. Ugggh :headache:

What a great picture! You look great!

so ends my typing ability until some pain meds get in my system. :thumbsup2
How's the swelling? When can you get another xray?

I think Emma and Tammi's Nicholas are right in there too, just at the tail end of the year.
When is Emma's birthday?

Here are a few pics from Emma's field day and the camping trip...

Great photos!

Daniel's team won 8-5!!! Daniel was given the game ball. Bases were loaded, 2 stikes, when the ball came flying towards him at 2nd base & he caught it, threw to 1st & got 2 out!!! Inning over!

He was so proud & all his teammates were too. And he didn't even want to go to baseball this morning!
:woohoo:

 Hi, all! Sorry I've been MIA for so long again. I thought it was supposed to slow down once preschool was done!
Hi Beth!

I got some uniquely Virginia gifts, I think...

For Anthony: A Virginia cup like the one below, but with the seal of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the word VIRGINIA in italics below the seal.

For Mary and Jordan: Pewter Bracelets of the Month, July and October

I also got Kristin one of the bracelets for August because she found them and fell in love with them!
Very nice!

I found a few more pictures of me from 1973..I am going to post them on the "old photos" thread too.

:cool1: We like conservative!

Welcome back Debbie! Love the pictures & I agree with everyone else, you look wonderful :goodvibes

Robyn great pictures, looks like everyone had a fun time!

Anne Marie love the older photos you are posting & tell Daniel WTG :cheer2:

Theresa I do hope you get relief with your wrist soon :wizard:

Elin what nice gifts you picked out! Hope the weather is not to bad & you enjoy your dinner.

Heidi :wizard: that the weather calms down for you as well.

Beth sorry RL still has not slowed down for you. Hopefully you will get a break soon!

Tammi I hope you hear good news from the appraiser :wizard:

:wizard: & to everyone I may have missed!

I posted this exact question on the transporation board...

ETA: I noticed you've already noticed that! And since you're going in August, you'll be my guinea pig! (Actually, I hope there are others out there like that before us! :rotfl: )

I'll be testing it next week!

What a beautiful day it was here today! I did have to work but was able to enjoy a little bit of it while watching Riley play baseball this afternoon. Two of his games were rained out this past week, so his team is playing a double header tomorrow. So I need to get my booty to work early so I can watch his games.

Gary got the floor in our living room down today & it looks fantastic! Now he just has to put the baseboards on & our living room is done :thumbsup2 I came home to a dusty mess though from Gary sanding the floors & to add to it I cleaned the ceiling(have I told you all how much I hate the popcorn ceilings :headache: ). Deb I can relate to how yo felt with the dust, messy, messy, messy!

I promise to post pictures once everything is back in place! I am just in awe how nice our home is looking :goodvibes

My day just got better! I've been so worried about luggage lately - I know, stupid worry - but I could never get the same answer from CO..one bag or two?? It was my goal today to find out the absolute answer. Started off by reading CO's Contract of Carraige. :faint: It stated ONE bag, but no date restrictions. Then I noticed that CO has a TA website. I found it there!!! (And it's now printed and attached to my tickets!) It actually states "for customers who purchased tickets prior to April 5, 2008 - 2 Checked Bags"

...and now back to your scheduled programming!

How do I check this out for Airtran and Northwest? My family is flying Northwest and my mom and sister are flying Airtran next week. I need to start getting this checked out. I only have 5 days.

Hi, all. Popping in to say hello. Debbie, you look FANTASTIC, and I hope you had fun on the cruise.

For everyone who has cruised (DCL and others), what would you suggest for a 1st time cruise? Denise,

I personally think that cruising when Hurricane season is on, is hard cause you never know if you are going to be hit with a storm.

I would do a four day DCL cause three days is just too short. 7 might be too many days for the first time.

Stephanie and I were just talking about doing a cruise to Alaska in 2011.

Right now we have to start planning for a trip to DL for 2009. :thumbsup2

Well, I got home around 1pm today. I stopped at mom's last night. I haven't posted about her recent plans because she didn't want anyone to know until she had done it. I doubt anyone I know ever reads this but didn't want to take the chance.

Mom retired from the state yesterday. She is going on an "extended visit" to my sister's for the summer. :lmao: She has really been struggling with whether she should retire. She is too much like me and needs to stay busy. When she is home alone, she doesn't get much done and that leads to depression.

If dad were still alive, it would be very different. She would have retired 10 years ago (less than a year after him). They would be travelling the states. Oh well, I guess things don't work out as we always hope. It is just so sad because they spent their lives planning for retirement. They saved and scrimped so that they would have a great retirement and then never got to enjoy any of it as dad died 6 months after he retired and several months before mom was due to retire.

Hmmmm. If we haven't taken our cruise to Alaska by then, I might just see if Chuck & I can crash your party!

Oh and the appraisor comes tonight, so if you could throw some pixie dust my way for a low appraisor, I would REALLY appreciate it!

I find that incomplete painting and some baseboard removed does wonders for an appraisal being lowered :rolleyes1

Very nice photos. You're lucky to have those precious memories of your Grandmother.

I'm glad that you're home safely. Was that your last trip to Lansing before your trip?

I'm glad your Mother finally retired. Hopefully she will have a great summer with your sister and her kids. It sounds like they could all use a change of pace.

It seems I'm here alone again. It was a very long and exhausting day.

After I logged off last night I heard sirens and saw flashing lights. I investigated and found the emergency rescue squad parked in the street in front of our house. There was an ambulance, rescue truck, fire truck and several cars. All the men had flashlights and were searching the bushes along the road. After several minutes of watching out the window I woke Chris up. We were both baffled. We finally saw them grab a back board and head down over the hill into the bushes/woods. We couldn't stand the wondering any longer and went outside to investigate. The finally came up with a man strapped to the board. They put him in the ambulance and spent a long time working on him. One of the firefighters that we know came over. He said that they had received a 911 call that brought them to the general area. The man was non responsive, but had left the phone connected so they could hear the sirens at the dispatch station and knew where to stop the ambulance. They they could hear the firefighters yelling which finally helped them locate the man. He was non responsive and no one knew where he had come from or what had happened. Needless to say we went to bed baffled. We learned today that the man had gotten drunk and was apparently walking on the road when he needed to pee. He walked into the bushes not knowing that it was a steep embankment and fell. He couldn't get up so he called 911 before he passed out :confused3 Very strange indeed. So we finally came in at 1 AM.
