DDA Chapter 8

Wow. Were the boards down today or something?

We had a fun time in Baltimore. Traffic wasn't toooo bad, but there were some accidents on the major interstates, but I had the mapbook and we were able to negotiate around them. A little out of the way beats a lot of sitting in traffic.

So we got to Baltimore and ate our picnic lunch we took up with us. Then we met up with Robyn, Eric and the girls. Just as I suspected, Nicholas and Emma hit it off. We toured through a lot of the Aquarium and then went to the Dolphin Encounter. We were talked into sitting in the Splash Zone. I don't know which little imp to blame that on. Anyway, it looked like all was good, until the very end. Then we got a big dose of water. The kids got a kick out of it though, and had a good time. After that we toured through some more and we said our goodbyes. My clan went to the Immersion Theater to see the 4D show. Bethany didn't last through the previews. Bob ended up taking her out. There was a lot of things crawling under your seat, tickling your ankles, water spraying on you, etc. My kids and I liked it.

Of course we had to end our day with dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. ;) We have lots of leftovers, so dinner should be easy the next few days.

Thanks for joining us today, Robyn. I wish we could have visited more, but it was nice to see you and yours again.

Sounds like you all had a great day! :goodvibes

Elin sorry to hear about Bob's mom  Hope you have a great weekend!

Thanks, Janet. She is a WonderWoman! She has been fighting colon cancer for decades and keeps bouncing back. When Bob got home she had just finished hanging new curtains in his old room and was cooking one of his favorite meals. It is my opinion that one reason she is so resilient is so that my FIL doesn't worry about her. She has always been a SAHM and has taken care of her five men 24/7; that is her duty and she loves it. Bob's Dad will be 91 in August and she will be 82 in December. They have been married 59 years! We are all hoping to be at their 60th wedding anniversary in April 2009. :goodvibes

Gary is making such great progress with our home, I am so pleased with everything & all the kudos goes to him. All I have done is help pick out colors, furniture, ect. ave the same color/cushions as our dining room table chairs :thumbsup2

Our home is looking so different & I am loving it!

That is wonderful, Janet! We want pictures, woman! ::yes::

Thank you so much Elin.   Don't thread on the mental brainstorming!!! Perfect. Now I understand. I love you too.

Ah yes, the fix-it syndrome. I suffer from that so. I'll have to learn to just send hugs.:grouphug: :grouphug:

For the record, Stephanie... I was not being critical of your post, but, complimentary! You can tell people to calm down and look at things from a different perspective better than anyone else on here (with possibly the exception of Glynis :goodvibes ). I, for one, appreciate your point of view and envy your ability to make it known without hurting feelings. Don't change a thing...

There is a 4D show down at Stone Mountain. I was so mad at my sister cause she thought it was funny that I was freaking out during it. I absoutely hate snakes. Thank goodness Stephanie understands and won't force me to see It's Tough To Be a Bug

I am hoping to get to see Stone Mountain again in August. I have a training seminar in Lilburn and I hope we have enough leeway in our schedule to see it. The last time we were there was in 1979! Kathrin was a little one in a stroller.

That is amazing! Not many people make it to a 60th anniversary.

Speaking of travel... this could have been a very busy traveling summer for me. You all know about our trip to Boston next month. I think I have also mentioned that my boss is having knee replacement surgery in early July (after she hobbles around the Dominican Republic for two weeks at a resort for one of her sons' weddings!).

Because she will be down for the count for at least a few weeks I also was invited to attend the Yamaha National Concert and Music Camp in Los Angeles again this year as well as the Canadian National Concert in Toronto. Patrick's co-performer from last year has been asked to play at both those concerts and since my boss cannot attend they invited me to go to both, all expenses paid. I turned down the opportunity to go to LA because I need to be here to run the school. I had to decline the trip to Toronto because their JOC Concert and workshops are the same week we will be in Boston. I would have loved doing that one. It has been years and years since I was last in Canada. (I wonder if I would have needed a passport for a trip in and out of Canada by air??? I bet someone here will know the answer to that question!)

Good morning. :)

We all slept in today and will go to church in a little while. Alyssa has a bday party later today at Chuck E. Cheese, then tonight the kids go to their dad's. I have a free evening! Elin, what are you doing tonight?

Your dinner sounded wonderful. We ended up at TirNaNog and we were not impressed at all. Eric and I split the Fish and Chips, it was good but not great. Especially for the price- for $12 it was one piece of fish and 6 french fries. The girls split an order of chicken fingers.

Was that the Irish pub we considered for dinner when we were all together last summer? Sounds like we made a better choice in the Cheesecake Factory!

Glad you all had as much fun as Tammi and her clan. I also hope Lucy is feeling better today.

That is amazing! Not many people make it to a 60th anniversary.

No they don't! And I am hoping they do. Both of them are suffering from declining health so we keep our fingers crossed.

Nothing definite planned yet... Kristin and I are planning to drive out to the Greek Festival later today for lunch or dinner. What time do the kids leave? And what did you have in mind???? I could be persuaded to do something! ;)

Their dad is picking them up at 6:30.

is that before or after dinner for you?

Well, I will be a Chuck E Cheese with Alyssa from 4-6, so I'm sure I won't have had dinner. Blech!

Amazing and heartwarming!

Wow, you sure would have been living out of a suitcase. They sound like amazing trips and I am sorry that it didn't work out for you to go.

My mom said the girls were up at 6:30am. I wonder if they will ever learn to sleep in

Enjoy your evening.

I guess it was, it is in the same pavilion as the CF. The CS in England gave you more food for less money and it was just as good.

Lucy is feeling better. She didn't eat much yesterday and therefore woke up at 2:45 for a bottle. I didn't hear her at all, Eric got up with her. Her eyes seemed to have cleared up so she looks normal now!

Here is her new skill as of today, she could only get to her knees before. She popped up and said "Hi"...

I agree, I really hope they make it to their 60th wedding anniversary.

Had my Pop-pop lived to December 5th of his final year of life, instead of passing away on Feb 9th, my Grandparents would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Also had he survived until August 8th he would have celebrated his 90th birthday. Then again his wife would have celebrated her 90th birthday had she made it until January 4th, 2008 instead of passing away on August 8th, 2007.

Elin- For air travel into Canada you currently need a passport or a Nexus card. You do not need a passport for land and sea travel into Canada until June 1, 2009.

I never learned to sleep in so I am guessing the answer is... nope!

Love that picture of Miss Lucy! I am delighted that she is feeling better. :lovestruc

Well, that opens a plethora of opportunities! Dinner? Drinks? Movie? All three? :rotfl2:
