Glynis, how is Alan's ankle?

ETA: I'm glad to see it isn't broken, at least! Did he get to take meds once he got home? I sure hope so, that DOES sound painful! :wizard:

Hi everyone. Well, Alyssa did it, and I am surprised. She got on stage and did her recital. It was only dress rehearsal, but they all did well. Please pardon me while I have a proud mommy moment. If you are interested, here is the dance.

You SHOULD be proud!! She was right on, looked beautiful, and not at all frightened! I'd say she was quite the little leader on stage, even! :goodvibes

Not much to tell. A few years ago, Alan was sent by the station to cover the opening game for the Jazz. He was down on the floor by the sidelines, and one of the players literally tripped over his own feet and landed on the floor, tripping another player (and so on, and so on), and the pile up ended right on top of Alan. Luckily, he had slid his camera out of the way so it was safe. I did have to laugh when I was watching the game and there it was! It looked kind of like when boys play "dogpile", and my poor hubby was on the bottom. He looked so surprised when he saw what was happening. I don't know how he had the presence of mind to save the camera. I would have curled up in the fetal position!

:) I'm sorry, but my entire family loves it when the camera man, official, etc gets plowed (as long as they aren't hurt, of course!) We are always very impressed! :teeth: And now I know one!! :yay: :rotfl:

Tammi, Alyssa's performance was wonderful and so mature! Our recital consisted of 3, 4, and 5-year-olds, so it wasn't nearly as sophisticated. ;)

I hope Alyssa does just as well at the real performance! :goodvibes

Hopefully Glynis is still sleeping! :teeth:

I'm sorry you didn't get any sleep...when will they let you know if you can go home today?

Eh, I have no idea. I haven't met the morning nurse yet (and am hoping it's not the one who was 7-7 yesterday, as you well know!) and I don't know if they have me set up for a certain time or what. I know the Peri's office doesn't even open until 9. Then I have to also work around the on-call OB's schedule (which obviously includes deliveries and OR time).... so I could be here a while. I sure hope not!

Thanks for all the well-wishes! As Amy mentioned, I slept about 80 minutes - not all in a row - and feel like crap. Both babies did great on the monitor, but I don't think that was a valid concern to begin with. I'll keep you posted whenever I hear anything, and am updating the blog with a bit more detail throughout this admission, that I'm not likely to keep retyping. Anything important I'll be sure and share here, though! :grouphug:

I still don't have any weekend pictures uploaded, since I napped when the kids were napping on Monday, and I had my OB appointment yesterday during naptime (nothing to report except Noah had the hiccups :goodvibes ).

Kevin was goofing around with a little "movie" footage we took on our Canon at the zoo a couple weeks back. Alyssa is dancing at the Miss Lori concert (Miss Lori is a PBS kids' host from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.).

Jennifer - I hope you get a nicer a.m. nurse today! And I also hope your little peas absorbed everything they needed to allow you to head back to your own bed for a few more weeks. :)

Now would probably be the time to try to nap because you know as soon as you fall asleep the nurses and doctors will come in and wake you up and get the show on the road. ;)

Keep on napping, Amy! Looks like Alyssa has got the "moves" down! Loved the fact that she protects Matty when they are walking up to the characters! How precious.

Thanks Elin. She's a good big sister, most of the time. ;)

She's requesting to play on Playhouse Disney "dot com" so we're off to a different website now. :)

Have a great day DDA! :goodvibes

That's true! I actually was talking about that just now! Unfortunately, I can't nap to save my life. The monitors are so fickle that I have to sit one way, and one way only, and practically not breathe. Hence, the lack of sleep. I did tell them that if I have to stay longer, I refuse to be monitored continuously at night! They can come in and do spot checks for 20 or 30 minutes or something (or just assume all is well for the couple hours I sleep anyway!), but this isn't going to work. :snooty:

Amy, that footage turned out nice! It's just from your digital camera? I'm glad you guys had so much fun :goodvibes

Jennifer hope you get to return home today!

Amy love the video!

Debbie are you packed yet?

Tammi,
Alyssa did great. She looks very confident on the stage & the costume is lovely.

Deb,
Nice pictures!!

Glynis,
:wizard: for Alan!

Amy,
Cute video. They remind me of Katie & Daniel (before Sophie came along).

Jennifer,
Hope all goes well today & you can go home.

Elizabeth,
Yay for DS's scores! Hang in there, it almost over!

I agree. I can remember just a few short years ago when all of our kids were mere babes. Now they are big kids!

I liked the penalty box! :rotfl2:

Great pics, Deb! :)

Alan update:

He just called from the hospital. The doctor looked at the x-rays and there is no break. However, the ball hit the ankle bone directly, and left a deep bruise on the tendons surrounding the bone. They are fitting him in an ankle brace and sending him home. The doctor said it will be extremely painful for several days. Oh, and they can't give him any pain meds, since he has to drive 45 minutes home.

He is going to stay home from work tomorrow, but doesn't think he'll take any more time off than that. I can deal with that!

I'm glad it's not any worse! Hopefully he will be feeling better in a couple of days! :wizard:

Jennifer - I hope they let you out soon! :wizard:

Amy - Cute video! :)

Tom - I have no advanced math skills beyond running numbers for Disney trips. ;) I see a tutor in DS's future.

Nordstrom Half Yearly starts today!
I have to go to the dentist at noon. :guilty: The crown in front of the "new" one has a hole in it. It feels like a tooth that the filling fell out of - there is a big hole right in the top surface. :scared: I know he is going to say it has to be replaced. :sad2: I HATE having dental work done.

Did you all see that resort airline check-in will now only accept ONE checked bag from each passenger? :headache: Guess that means we'll be checking in at the airport!

I thought I'd bore you all with some of Molly's 4 year and Lucy's 9 month pictures. Don't tell anyone but Lucy was really 10 months.

Beautiful pictures -- they both look so happy! Thanks for sharing.

I just got a phone call from Alan. He was covering a high school baseball tournament, safely by one of the dugouts, and ended up getting hit in the ankle by a foul ball. His ankle has swollen and is black and blue. He's waiting for a replacement photographer to come so he can go to the hospital and have it checked out. Any spare pixie dust you've got would be welcome! I just don't have the energy for a housebound husband these days! That would drive both of us crazy!

I'm glad it's not broken. PD that it heals quickly and you both got some sleep.

Wow -- I see lots of lessons and recitals in your future -- she looks like a natural. :goodvibes

I think it's important to capture all their firsts :lmao: :lmao:

I can't believe how quickly the boys are growing up. Colby has a buzz cut and it makes him look even older. My babies are growing up.

Deb -- great pics of the boys! I especially loved the penalty box as well.

I loved the video. Alyssa is too cute. I was impressed that Matty was willing to walk up to the characters with Alyssa behind him, instead of needing to follow her.

Elizabeth -- congrats to DS on TAKS. That is amazing!

Jennifer -- I hope the fluids are up and you get to go home.

We had crazy drama at Jake's baseball game last night. One of the best players on the opposing team was thrown out of the game in the first inning for intentionally mowing down our catcher. He threw a football block on him and snapped his head back. Thankfully, the catcher was okay. The game went downhill from there, and by the last inning, the parents on the opposing team were heckling our players. Unfortunately, the other team did win.

Jake told me on the way home that the kids on the other team acted better than their parents. And he was correct! I told him that those kids are watching their parents' behavior and will unfortunately mimic it one day.

We just have swimming lessons and errands today. Happy Wednesday everyone!
