DDA Chapter 7

Good morning, DDA!

Nothing exciting here today, except that the temp is supposed to be near 90! I need to go make some lunch for DS and get ready for work, so I'll pop in after I take Princess to school! :)

DUH! I didn't know there was a 2 hour finale of DH last night!!! I caught the 2nd part about 20 minutes in & the ending was rather good.

I really want park hours to come out! :confused3 (I wonder if they are out for November yet...)
Did we have discussion about changing Wolfgang to Raglan for arrival night? We could always to Wolfgang on our HS or EPCOT night since we now have boat access to DTD...and none of us have eaten at Raglan...we should make that one "just in case" our flights get in early... ;)

Sounds good.:thumbsup2

Tammi,
I get various emails regarding discounted tickets for Broadway shows. Do you want me to forward any to you?

Stephie-I have a Sony H5 which isn't made anymore. I don't think the replacement is as good. It is a high end point & shoot. Someday I'll upgrade to a dSLR but I don't think I can handle that with the kids yet. I recommended Canon's high end point & shoot to my sister for her DD and they are very happy with it.

Thanks! I didn't notice Mickey til you pointed him out-how cool! I'll have to go add a comment to that picture. Keeping your elbows close to your body helps with the steady shot. I would say its just the camera but my DH's shots don't look like that.;)

I have the Canon S3IS, and so far I really like it. I really, really want a dSLR, but there is always someplace else that makes more sense for the money to go.

I hope Laura's procedure went smoothly! And I can't believe we're at 32 weeks, and still at home! I'm definitely having a lot of increased.... everything. But I'm still surprised we've made it this far! :goodvibes

Thank you to everyone for the well-wishes for Laura! Everything went well.

Ditto!

Happy Birthday Miles party:

Thanks for all the birthday wishes for Miles!

That looks yummy, but too pretty to eat!

They had no problems digging right in! :rotfl:

Things are okay, he is just a thorn in my side. We now have legal paperwork documenting his visitation, and I've been awarded exclusive possession of the house. Which means that even though he is still part owner he cannot come into the house. Oh, and the big one that he was a stickler about....he has to provide transportation for his visitation. He was having me meet him halfway to pick up the kids on Sunday evenings. After discussing with his attorney he decided that it was going to be a losing battle so he finally agreed to it. That was a biggie with me. Everyday the kids are my responsibility, taking them to daycare, sports, doctors, dentists, homework, extra curricular activities, etc. plus hold down a full time job. He could at least drive 20 minutes every other weekend. On the 30th he has an appraisor coming out to look at the house. That is the next and last major hurdle, buying him out. Hopefully I will be able to afford it. At least for the short term. Sorry if that was more of an answer than you wanted. I appreciate you asking.
pixiedust: I hope that you are able to buy him out.

I have no idea. I was just looking at airfare and it is outrageous! Over $300 r/t pp. Maybe it's not such a good idea. The other idea I threw out was spending a night in NYC, seeing a show, driving up to Cape Cod/Martha's Vineyard. I'm going to have to get with our resident TA next week. ;)

Boston was fun! We really want to go back.

I have to go, but I think I might get a few minutes later today to try to catch up a bit more.

We just watched Star Wars Episode 2. We have seen 4,5,6,1 & 2..(in that order) just have to see #3 now. The kids love SW & know every character. I never saw Star Wars when I was a kid..only saw the 1977 version a month or so ago. Now we are all big fans.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I can't imagine not seeing them by.... I don't know when! I grew up watching 4, 5 and 6, and saw all 3 of them in the theaters for their remastered releases the night they came out (at midnight). We did the same with 1, 2 and 3.... even though I was in Disney World when Episode 1 was released :teeth: I still prefer the "first" trilogy (4-6) but we love and own them all. Not so sure about "Clone Wars" coming out this summer though.............

I thought I'd share a few pics of Lucy. My cousin took them yesterday when they were here.

Adorable! :goodvibes

guess who is pretty much packed ?!?!?!!?

Yeah, yeah yeah. Nobody cares, we aren't going. ;)

It's so soon! :teeth:
:rotfl: I saw Star Wars in the theater when I was 7. Now we own 5 of the 6 episodes on DVD, but I don't ever watch them. DH and DS will watch if any of the episodes comes on TV, which drives me nutty. We OWN THE DVDs!

We just did this last night. There was nothing on (that wasn't taping on the DVR) and Episode 5 was on. We got stuck on it, and after about 45 minutes I was so annoyed with the commercials and furious that we had wasted such time! We ended up putting in the DVD, finding the scene and finishing it.... but it is rather annoying! :rotfl:

Housewives is giving me stress!:scared:

That's what I hear! I read the DH thread this morning and haven't watched it yet.... what a doozy!

I am seriously considering doing the half marathon in March next year at Disney. Does anyone have the details on the training schedule for the marathon? I asked Chuck and he said if I did the half in March, that we could go in January of 2010 so that I could do the full marathon.

As Becky mentioned, Hal Higdon's site is one of the most popular. I found it ok, but there were times it progressed too slowly or awkwardly. Here are a few others... what we really had to do was look at them (plus a few others, including a REALLY great one we had to subscribe too -- I'll give you the link if you're interested in really doing it, it costs a little) and combine them, making our own 12-week plan. It also depends on whether you want training tips in minutes or miles (depending on how you are going to train, if you have laid out mileage, etc).

You should really do it! It wasn't even a goal for me, just an excuse to get to WDW.... and it was still such a great accomplishment. If you want to do one anyway by the time you're 50, I can't imagine doing one anywhere better than there! And not just because it's a trip to WDW, but because it's SO organized, so much more laid back than others (in big cities at least), so much more... Disney! Go for it! :goodvibes

Also spend some time on the runners world website.... and invest in NEW SHOES! That's the most important part, I swear. And you'll need to do so more than once between the training and the race. Good luck! :goodvibes

Was this the SERIES finale of Housewives? :scared1: I knew it was the SEASON finale, but it had a very strange ending!

Huh. I wonder where next season will pick up?

Just the season finale, and it will pick up 5 years in the future, where this one left off.... this is a really informative article, but kind of annoying if you ask me. I'm sure they'll pull it off, though!

Sounds like another busy weekend for you and your family, Amy. And lots of nice presents! :)

Thanks for the compliments on the graduation photos. The sheer number was to make up for the lack of photos from her HS graduation. We could not see her because we were so far away. Another great reason for liking how VCU handles their graduation ceremonies for all those students.

I have to tell you a quick story of "my" actor. The first time she was on a stage was at a ballet recital. She completely forgot what she was supposed to do and sat down on the stage and cried. It was tough to watch. If someone had told me that day that she would be so comfortable on the stage I would have had them committed! :rotfl:

That story is too cute! When I was 3, I was SUCH a clutz. I would fall over 10 times a day, no matter what I was doing. When I told my mom and grandmother I wanted to take ballet, they literally laughed at me. I swear, I remember it clear as day (and they don't deny it!). I danced for 20+ years and no matter how large the venue or company, my grandparents would always tell me (and anyone else who would listen), "You wouldn't believe it watching her on stage, but she could hardly stay upright standing still when she started"

That is so funny, knowing how far she has since come. So there is hope for my Alyssa yet!

Another reason why I shouldn't give up on Alyssa! :thumbsup2

We just got home from taking Mom out to her monthly dinner. She is just not doing too great. She is showing signs of dementia, and has lost her ability to stay balanced, even with a walker.
The nursing staff is going to be testing her with different medications to see if they can help.
It just seems weird to see my Mom this way.

I'm so sorry Tom. :grouphug: I hope they are able to make a difference by changing the meds.

My credit for the room cancellation is showing on my Disney Visa. That didn't take 2 billing cycles at all!

Yahoo! Glad you guys had fun at the zoo. My sister was there on Saturday as well. They go almost every weekend, and the butterfly exhibit was where they mostly stayed.

We have another loss under our belt. The good news is that we played very well in the second half and if we could play an entire game like that then we could win. Both Nick and Hunter played very well today, they were much more aggressive then they had been.

I stopped at Kohl's on the way home to return a couple of things. Of course I ran smack into a clearance rack and couldn't resist. Men's Columbia fleece jackets were marked $9 and I had an additional 30% off :cool1: I also found some Disney themed socks on clearance for me. From there I went to Walmart. I found el cheapo flip flops for the boys to shower in at FW. I also found a cute Tinkerbell swimsuit cover up for me.

Yeah for good deals at Kohl's! I'm so glad to hear the boys are playing better. It sounds like they are beginning to be more comfortable playing together. I hope the next games are even better.

I thought I'd share a few pics of Lucy. My cousin took them yesterday when they were here.

This is Lucy's new favorite face...

Today was downright exhausting. I don't know how Emma and Eric are still standing. The entire soccer game was played in a cold downpour. Emma played her heart out and made a break and ran the ball from the back field all the way to the goal. She managed to get a shot but it didn't go in. She plays fullback so she normally never goes past half field. It was so exciting to see her play like that, she is starting to put to use the skills she has while playing in the moment. The game ended up in a tie 1-1 so we have definitely improved overall since the beginning of the season.

After the game we headed straight to the party and stayed there til for about an hour. The party was outside under tents and the last thing any of us wanted to do was be outside any longer.

The girls are in bed after a lovely dinner of cereal! Eric is fixing us a quick bite and then I am headed upstairs to watch Desperate Housewives.

I hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday. I haven't gone back to catch up but will do that tomorrow. In the meantime,'s and :wizard: to all.

Lucy is such a doll! Hooray for Emma. I hope your family is feeling better today.

Housewives is giving me stress!:scared:

I forgot to DVR it. Darn!

I read this to Chris and his immediate response was "it puts a new spin on taking Willy Wonka to the chocolate factory"

:rotfl:

Wow, what a weekend! My godparents were in town on Saturday for an antique festival, and we got together for lunch. I hadn't seen them since Alyssa was about 3-months-old, so it was great to catch up!

My mom, stepdad, and sister arrived late Saturday afternoon, and my mom spoiled me with a new pair of Clarks. Alyssa got a dress and the Panda Webkinz and Matty got a shorts outfit and the lion (or as he calls it ROAR) Webkinz. Kevin got the Photoshop Elements Teach Yourself Visually book. :rotfl:

This morning, Kevin and I were introduced as new members of the Methodist Church, and Alyssa had her ballet recital at 3 p.m. There were four performances, and each group had a girl with stage-fright. I felt so badly for them and their mommies.

No pictures uploaded (surprise, surprise ;) ), but we were very proud of our little ballerina. My family left around 5 p.m. and despite the Cavs losing, it was a great weekend.

Sounds like a fun weekend. Congrats on your new Church. My niece and nephew will be baptized in my home Methodist church in about a month. I'm so looking forward to it. Show us pics when you get a minute.

Elin -- the pics of your family (and graduate) were beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your weekend via pics. The love your girls and you and Bob share is very evident in the pictures. By the way -- you look fabulous in the one pic you let us see of yourself. :)

Tammi -- Bob is such a nice guy to take Nicholas to the batting cages. A+ to him!

Baseball, baseball, baseball all weekend. Andrew had kids over to swim after the games on Saturday, but I did manage to make it to Church and get some laundry done before they started on Sunday. They got second in the tournament, and Andrew did well. His biggest roadblock is his confidence, not his skills. Thanks for the good wishes -- I know they have helped.

We have a busy week of baseball, and the last soccer game is Saturday. I better get back to looking at resumes for a new admin.

Have a terrific day everyone!

Thanks, Jen. He was pretty excited that he got to pitch. :)

Kristine - another question! Does it look like all the spa treatments are listed as being able to be pre-reserved online? I haven't been able to find a list of the spa treatments that you can pre-reserve...but have been able to find the spa treatment lists for once your on the ship online. (Does that make sense?)

It just seems weird to see my Mom this way.

You might want to take a list of her meds to the pharmacy yourself to see what the side effects are. My grandmother's meds were what caused her dementia. Mom had them checked out and just about every one had a side effect of dementia. When they changed them around, we got my grandmother back for another couple of years. Real dementia finally did take her away from us but we got several more years when they modified the meds.

I've been productive this morning for a change. I've done 2 loads of laundry including the dreade sock pile. Socks are sorted and put away. I also heard back from AAA NNE. I had called on Saturday to check on the RV plus benefits which Channon had suggested. I also ordered our trip tik. On a whim I asked about AAA Diamond card. She said she thought we could get a card by purchasing a 4 day or longer base ticket. Since my Dad needs a 10 day base ticket I was able to order that today with the AAA discount and we will get the parking pass :cool1: Now we don't need to borrow one :thumbsup2

I even got off my duff and got the durabond applied to the ceiling. I can't believe how fast it's drying today. Especially since it is COLD here. Hopefully this coat will be enough and we can paint this weekend. That is the plan anyway. We have 3 days off with no games or other plans so we will work on the living area and hope that we can do it all. It will be so nice to have our house back in order. It will still give us a few weeks before our trip too :cool1:

I thought you were the one that provided all the original links but couldn't remember for sure. I'm seriously considering it. I need a goal both to get in shape and to focus on so that I have a life outside of work. It is looking more & more like I'm going to do this. Thanks for the info. If I set my mind to it, I'll let you know and ask you to provide the other link.
