DDA Chapter 7

We had a grand time at the party yesterday!! It wasn't how Jim or I envisioned Cassidy's 16th to be but she enjoyed it.

We did have a "yikes" moment in the morning....as you all might remember I bought Cassidy necklace way back in January...well we took it out yesterday morning and it was tangled so badly it broke:eek: So we had to run and find a new necklace for the pendant (didn't want to send the whole thing off for the 2-3 week repair we paid for).

The girls loved their presents.....Abi's photo collage was the hit of the party and Cassidy was almost in tears with her present.
That's wonderful Theresa. I'm glad the girls had a great day!

Short and sweet and go into more details later as well as post video, but OUR BOY HEARS AGAIN!

Last week Mya told her Equine Therapist how proud she was of her little brother for riding with her, and one day he would hear her say that to him.

Well TODAY was that day! Just typing this brings tears to my eyes...
:dance3:  :cool1: :yay: :cheer2:

Yesterday was my neice's communion. It was a nice day & we didn't get in until after 9pm. The kids had fun seeing their cousins & the weather held up.

I woke up to Sophie screaming her head off "Mom! Mom!! Mom!!!

She found a bug in the bathroom.

This morning the kids all came into my room & gave me their handmade cards & gifts.:cloud9: And lots of squeezes. Then they made me coffee & cinnamon toast.

Today we are home, going for a late lunch & just hanging out...ahhhh!!:thumbsup2

Enjoy your Mother's Day!!!!!!!

Thanks Elin. And thanks for the little surprise in the mail. That really wasn't necessary. You will be hearing from the kids soon!

It was necessary since I couldn't make it to see them!

I have a gift card to that place and have never used it. Maybe I could order something to take to Richmond for next weekend!!
The chocolate covered pineapples are the best!

Hey, they even have Disney baskets!

Happy Mother's Day, to all DDA mommies and daddies.

Morning DDA! Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all my DDA friends.

You are all Mother's that have proven time and time again that perfection doesn't matter, It's raising your children with a Love for Disney that counts :rotfl:

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

My sister and I went out last night and got some shoes to go with all the new clothes that I've gotten recently. They look like Wicked Witch of the West shoes to me. My sister says pointy shoes are "in". Yuck! I didn't get the real pointy ones, thank goodness. I also got a pair of dressier slip-ons. I don't have anything but my crocs to wear with shorts & capris. I've felt kind of funny about that since I got all the new clothes.

Wow, point shoes. You are way more "in" than I am. Pointy shoes hurt my feet. I love my new croc cleo sandals. I guess those are my summer shoe. I do have a pair of heeled sandals that are quite comfy, but I don't wear them much as they really aren't practical.

Theresa it sounds like the party was a huge success. When is the girl's actual birthday?

I need to get ready for work. TTYL

Tammi - how big are the ediblearrangements things? There are just the 4 of us who will be in the hotel next weekend. I don't want to skimp but I don't want a lot of fruit left over either!

I was looking at the chocolate covered pineapple, actually. I did look at the Disney baskets but I have to keep telling myself this is for Kristin, not Elin. ;)

They are a nice size but I think the 4 of you can handle it over a weekend.

I can't wear heels or pointy shoes...so the 5 pairs of shoes (+3 pairs of crocs) will have to work!!

The girls birthday is on Wednesday...and Cassidy gets to spend her 16th at a middle school concert!!:rotfl2:

Yes, Standards of Learning. Every grade has certain SOLs that must be mastered but they aren't tested on them until 3rd grade. Nicholas did say that they were taking practice tests this year though.

Ugh! That's why I hate these tests so much. They are more concerned with teaching the test than teaching the subjects.

No, it isn't. Because even though a child can't read, they still send them on to the next grade, thanks to No Child Left Behind. But don't get me on that soapbox.
I can definitely join you on that soapbox!

For those of you that have raised or are raising kids alone, my hats are off to you. I can't imagine the work involved. Watching my sister has worn me out! With their sports and counseling 4 days a week (twice for niece, once for nephew and once for sister), they are constantly on the go.
Definite ditto! I am not sure I could do it on my own. I guess if I had to, I'd step up and make it work, but I sure don't want to.

Here is the latest photo from Bernadette

I'm really bad about shoes. I just can't get myself to spend money on them or to wear anything that I find uncomfortable.

I am so happy.....our state is looking to LOSE our standardized testing:cool1:
I've been fighting against it since the beginning.
Last week I was part of the interview team for a new principal for our high school and was thrilled that most did not mention standardized testing in determining how kids are thriving!!:)
I wish NYS would head that way.

We in Virginia call them that too... :rotfl: But you were right that they are "Standards of Learning"

I hope you enjoy them. You really do need something clear to put them in to enjoy the beauty, I think. The travel mug is very fun! I used mine yesterday, but it had coffee in it. ;)
I know that my co-teacher is a "tea person", so I'm sure that she will like it. Plus she'll have a month to relax a bit in the mornings while her elementary-aged kids are still in school and we're not.

Happy early birthday to Cassidy and Abi!

Stay safe! Do you all have those edible arrangements out there. They are carved fruit baskets made to look like flowers. Delicious! http://www.ediblearrangements.com/

Those are beautiful but so expensive. I made something similar for Teacher Appreciation last year, and the teachers loved them. They are difficult to transport, though, so I'd love to know how that place packages them. Of course, they aren't cheap even if you make them yourself with all that fruit.
