10 people for $275 + tax & tip

WOW! That has gone up a lot. I want to say that we paid $125-150 + tax & tip four years ago. Maybe I'm wrong on that, but I know that it was definitely less than $200. I don't know that it would be worth it for $275.

Thanks for the de-stressing! Now I need to go get a few things done. I have to cut fruit and bake cookies for the Mother's Day teas tomorrow and Thursday. I hope that the mothers enjoy this, because it really is a lot of work!

I also need to get to work on my mother's Mother's Day gift.

I had a long list of things that I had to pick up at AC Moore and Wal-Mart for preschool and for my mother's gift. As I walked into AC Moore, the entire plaza lost power. The Target plaza and the plaza with Michael's also lost power. So I went to the grocery store for the fruit, and I'll have to wait on everything else.

Jackie's entire band group is going in a couple of weeks...quite honestly, I never gave it a second thought...

Well, chop chop! Start worrying like a proper helicopter mom! ;)

pixiedust: that you come to an agreeable solution and that everything works out. Could you or dh go as one of the chaperones?

That would only put us in closer proximity to him. He won't want us following him around all day. DH was hoping the friend's mom or dad might be going, but when I spoke to the sister last night she didn't know if either of her parents was planning to go.
Our band director isn't much on details. He doesn't say how they are getting there, what time they are leaving, what time they are coming back, how many adults are going, etc. Just that they are going to Six Flags and it is $25 as long as they have at least 10 people going. Does he think there will be LESS than 10? :confused3 Kind of odd. I told DS he better ask his friend if they can hang out together and make sure the friend says yes before we make any other plans!

Well, APs are done next week, play practice will be done after this week (show nights are Friday and Saturday), Miles' birthday is the 16th, synchro may be done as of May 18th, and, most importantly, only 13 more days of preschool! Of course, those are going to be 13 really busy days, but I am looking forward to graduation on May 23rd! Then I have almost a month with my kids still in school and no preschool for me! I really, really need to work on the house. It is in bad shape and will continue to get worse as I get busier. I think living in this disorganization is another major stressor.

Matthew is stressed, too, but he is looking forward to next week. No more AP exams, track, or play practice. That should really free up his time.

I don't know how those people who do everything do it.

An end is in sight! Hang in there!

When we went in 2005 I want to say it was $250. They took a HUGE price jump earlier that year. We shared our boat with 2 other DIS families, which gave us 8 people. Another lady said she only needed one spot but would pay me for 2 spots since I probably wouldn't find anyone else who just needed one spot. On her way to the marina the night of the cruise she called me and cancelled, but she actually sent me the money she owed me after we got home. I was amazed. DH and I had already agreed to ask our "guests" for $25 each and we would pay for any empty slots ourselves, but in the end we just paid for the 3 of us and our portion of the tip.

We went in May 2004 for Miles' 5th birthday (and my 38th). I just looked quickly for the information, but I didn't find it where I thought it was. I am sure that it was under $200, so that was quite a jump!

no can do I am afraid...with 4, I'd never make it out the door!! :rotfl2:

although if it makes you feel better..I am stressing a tiny bit over Jonathan's fancy free attitude about getting an apartment!

Nope. DS is 12, not 20. And DS is ADD, which means he is terribly flighty and doesn't think things all the way through before he starts them. He also tends to be a bit immature and a lot overprotected. PROBABLY he will be fine. The majority of kids who go to Six Flags are fine and make it back home in one piece. But this is MY kid, so I have to make sure I think on it from every angle. :rolleyes1

I think it is good that I just have the one child. I don't have enough time to worry over more than one! :)

Happy Birthday Bernadette!

I hope you are having a magical time at WDW!!!

:bday: party: :cake:  :bday:

Happy Birthday!!! I hope all your dreams ARE coming true :wizard:

Well, I made our OKW ressies for December. I had to waitlist for one of my nights and 3 nights for my parents. I hope they come through!

:wizard: :wizard: I'm sure they will come through. There is a lot of time between now and then.

Well, DH kept waffling, which gave DS a foothold. I called his friend's mom to see if the friend is going. Friend's mom wasn't home, but friend's sister said he is going and so is she. (She's in high school and plays in the band over there.) As far as DS is concerned that sealed the deal. Then DH REALLY started to back-pedal, but I am pretty sure DS will end up going.
When I was in 7th grade we went to Gatlinburg, TN and Six Flags over GA. In 8th grade we went to Busch Gardens in Tampa, and in 9th grade we went to MK. But DH says "Times have changed since then." True, but he was the one who refused to stand firm and say NO.
The thing is, not ALL of these kids are good. (DS and his friends are, but the other band members aren't.) I worry about other kids who are there without an adult picking fights with the kids from our group and a general melee ensuing. Six Flags is notorious for having roving bands of troublemakers because parents buy season passes and drop the kids off, and it would totally be DS's luck to get tangled up in some sort of confrontation. :sad2: So we'll see.

Neat! :)

If it is a school trip I see no reason why he shouldn't go. Nick is in the same grade and I would not have a problem. Of course he would be begging us to chaperone anyway as he does for everything. Apparently we are the "cool" parents :confused3 :confused3

Thanks! It seems that there is drama in everything that I am involved in right now: Miles' swimming, synchronized swimming, preschool, church, etc. I am trying my best to stay away from the drama, but there are things that it does affect. It's downright exhausting sometimes. I basically don't go to church anymore. I need to find a new one, but I just don't have the energy to do that right now.

As far as work, there have been a bunch of things recently done and said by the new director and the acting director (the new director just had surgery) that were unprofessional, disrespectful, and hurtful to both me and my co-teacher. There is a staff/board meeting tomorrow to discuss these issues, and they don't think they have done/said anything wrong. I really hope that I don't lose my patience and quit. Dh hopes that I do. ;) I need to remember that I am still professional and respectful but that I don't deserve to be walked on. When God closes a door He always opens a window, so it will work for the best as long as I don't let pride get in my way.

Sorry to dump all this out there. I know that my problems are extremely minor compared to many others in the world. It does help to get some of the frustration out, though.

 Feel free to vent here. When things pile up like that you need to get it off your chest and we have all been there. I hope you can work it all out and have the best possible outcome

I just booked Garden Grill for a late lunch! Maybe I'll have to re-calculate that DDP. :rotfl: We had a wonderful meal on our first trip with the kids (only 2 then) in 1998. We tried again in 2002, and dh suffered motion sickness from and had to leave early. It kind of put a damper on the whole thing. We went to the Ice Cream Social in 2004, and again dh got sick from the turning. He is very sensitive to that type of motion. So, I figured we should give it a whirl (no pun intended) on this trip, since we won't be able to go when he is with us.

I find the more kids you have, the less your worry. If I had one I'm sure I would be a neurotic mess, but with 3 I'm pretty easy going as they look out for each other some too :thumbsup2

Thanks! Sometimes venting is really need so that I don't explode. I had an explosion last night when I realized that the synchro meet entry was overdue. Poor dh and Laura. The boys were out of the house...lucky them!

At least here, you can skip over or ignore my venting posts. Those poor two really couldn't avoid my outburst even though it wasn't directed at them. And I used a few words that I really shouldn't have!

Wow, your DH must be super-sensitive, because most of the time I am oblivious that place is even moving! A late lunch sounds like a great addition to your trip!

And, don't be so hard on yourself for using some choice words last night. You are human, and your kids are old enough to know not to repeat what you say. ;) Sending you lots of :wizard: for your meeting tomorrow.

Speaking of motion sickness, my signature makes me dizzy! :rotfl:

Heidi, the candles are made by Wilton. I found them at Hobby Lobby, but I'm sure Michaels and any confectionery-type store carry them too. :)

I would have loved to get in on the ice cream social. I think maybe Garden Grill was under refurb when we went on our very first trip, and after that they never did the social again.

Did you just call me neurotic? :rotfl2:
I do worry about DS because he is small, and he tends to be a follower. I can't say with 100% certainty that he would walk away from a bad situation if there wasn't an adult around for him to consult. I don't think his ability to "read" a situation is that sharp. He could probably see if things were starting to go south, but I am not absolutely sure he would walk away. Which is why I worry about him being caught up in a fight.

We also talked to him last night about being painted with a broad brush. If some other kid in the band steals something and they are both in the shop at the same time then chances are they will both be ejected from the park. When we tell him things like that he tries to cut us off and finish our sentences, but he is always WRONG about what he thinks we are going to say. That tells me he can't anticipate trouble and reroute himself to avoid it. DH did chaperone the 5th grade camping trip and that seemed to go pretty well. I don't think DS will agree to having either one of us tagging along. In the park, maybe, but not actually going around the park with him and his friends. I'm still not sure it's a great idea to let him go. I need more information.

Since he never posts, I'll speak for Kevin and thank you for the birthday wishes. :goodvibes

Your kids are adorable but I've got to agree....your signature is making me dizzy.

Heidi-I think when I had those candles we had gotten them at Michaels.

DS just called. He said 2 of the 3 boys he eats lunch with every day are going to Six Flags. The third one isn't in Band. So I suppose if the other 2 are going and the 3 of them will stay together then DS can go. But I just told DS MAYBE he can go.

Me too!!! (But I love it still)

Hi all...

I've been reading along but just haven't had much time to between yesterday and today to actually post.

:wizard:, :grouphug:'s and :cheer2: to everyone.

I've loved reading through all the "How well do you know me" emails. :goodvibes

Thanks for all the good thoughts for feeling better. They seemed to have worked, for now at least. I feel fine and am keeping my fingers crossed that I stay fine. If I have another attack though I will need to call the doctor and go from there. I don't want it to ruin our ever growing list of summer activities.

Not really much going on, just busy stuff. I am about to run out with Mo & Lu to have their pics taken. I will try to check back in later.
