DDA Chapter 7

Ugh, I can't see your pictures Amy! I'll have to remember to come back to them when I get home.

My cousin called me last night to tell me about my mother and my sister and their newest dilemma.

There was a little birthday party yesterday for, hmm, I guess the little girl is my 3rd cousin? My cousin's daughter's daughter. Anyway, she turned 1.

The cousin I always talk to is the baby's great aunt.

My cousin called to tell me my sister was in FINE form at the party. :sad2: Apparently there was some sort of power surge that fried her computer. My mom thought it was something wrong with the "power" button, but they took it in and it is dead. So my sister, in true Veruca Salt fashion, was whining about how she needs a new computer. NOW. And not a desktop, either. A laptop! My mom has a computer, but it's not good enough. My cousin offered my sister a Dell laptop that she isn't using right now, but she doesn't want that, either. She has to have a NEW laptop, and she has to have it right this minute. My cousin said my sister wanted to leave before they even cut the cake because she needed to have a new computer NOW.

My cousin also said my sister (who is a freshman) is dating a Senior. Well, my sister was held back a year so she is 16, and apparently the boy is 17. I don't think that is a horrible thing, unless my sister turns up pregnant.

I called my mom this morning and asked her what the deal is with the computer. She said they have to buy a new one. Perfect. She still hasn't filed her taxes from '05, '06, or '07 so she doesn't have a stimulus check coming. She hasn't filed any of her medical claims. And she is going to buy my sister a new computer. :headache: I told her she isn't doing my sister any favors by spoiling her like this, my sister needs a job and she needs to have some responsibility instead of just whining constantly about the things she wants. My mother was immediately defending my sister, saying she can't have a job until she has a driver's license because Mom may not be able to drive her over the summer. Right. Anything to enable my sister to continue to be a spoiled, whining, mooch.

I have had it. I told DH if my mom was managing her money WISELY and was struggling then I would jump in and help. But since she insists on basically thumbing her nose at me I will NOT feel guilty. As long as she insists on coddling my sister and bending over backwards to hand her things that aren't absolutely necessary I refuse to feel bad about their financial hardships. My mom wants to play the grown up game? Fine! My sister wants to wear my mom down to a nub? Fine! When my mom has no strength to get better and my sister ends up with me as her guardian I will remind her every single day that she brought it on herself.

I feel horrible that my mom is sick. But I am running VERY short on sympathy for the situation she is creating by allowing my sister to dictate what their money will be spent on. And WHY is my sister not in COUNSELING?!

There is a computer in the house, there is a laptop being offered. There are computers at the library. Take your pick! Otherwise, do without!

There. Rant over.

Wow, she seems to not have a good grasp on the reality of life. I agree that you should step back and let the chips fall. You cannot force your mother into doing anything and it seems the more you push, the harder she pushes back just to prove you wrong. It seems you have the opposite relationship that most mothers/daughters have.

Very nice congratulations!!!

All 5 passports are printed and in order!! Now to drop them off and have them bound.

I'm thinking I might make some small towel animals at home before the trip and stash them away. I could put a new one out every few days to add to the Disney Magic. What do you think?

:grouphug:  It is for the best that you let them be. It will be one of the hardest things you've ever done, I'm sure. We all want to save those around us but they have to want to save themselves or our effort is just wasted.

love the idea

I'm looking at ordering the Misty Mates online.

I saw these ties in the store the other day and thought I'd like those as well. That would probably be good for Chuck and Mom for sure. For $22 for 2 Misty Mates and 4 neck-ties, I think that is a good price. What do you think?

Oh, Amy! Those are so darned cute! Such beautiful pictures of your big girl. :cloud9: Matty did so well too! They are all perfect shots.

Congrats on finishing the passports! I think making some little towel creations is an awesome idea! :thumbsup2

You guys are right.
I keep trying to remember the Al-Anon mantra - something like "I didn't cause it, I can't control it, and I can't cure it." It is pretty widely applicable, even when you aren't dealing with an alcoholic. I think my mother actually gets some perverse satisfaction out of defying me, whether she is aware of it or not.

So my good weekend, is over and it is a not so happy Monday.

So I thought I was going to be taking my test this morning. The professor did not provide me with the test questions. Also turns out my paper from last week disappeared into the black hole in the internet sky. The paper is on my laptop which I loaned to a friend to use this weekend and a few days this week since I was gone. So now I must either rewrite the paper or try to get them to email it to me. This on top of the fact I have no questions for a test, I thought I was taking. I do not have time to rewrite the paper and take the test. I am so livid right now, I just want to jump into a pool and swim away. I am sure the professor now thinks I am a crock who is losing their mind.

 :headache: :scared1: :sad1: :scared:

I guess I am off to work. Who knows what is going to happen with this class now. I might fail it now. I hope that I calm down on my drive there. Although I am seriously tempted to climb back in bed on this crappy rainy, damp day. I just want out of this class purgatory.

Thanks for listening. Sorry to be so negative all the time. Have a great day everyone. I think we need lots of :grouphug: :wizard: :wizard:  around here.:cool1: :rotfl2: :happytv: :rotfl: :goodvibes :dance3: :yay: :cool2: :cheer2: :flower3: :cutie:

I'm so sorry, Becky! It does seem to be dumping on you quite a bit these days! Wish I could help you out!

i am still pissed about yesterday but i am thanking god that Olivia is taking this all in stride and still helping out. in a little bit i an calling the other lady i liked and have a heart to heart and see if she wants to do it. if not i have a number of an agency that called me and said they will help find an attendant. i will have a heart to heart with them too to see if they can help. i am also stressing a little over getting my new puppy. Lisa the puppy raiser i talk to emailed me about her pup and i so hope what happened to him doesn't happen to me. he was suppose to graduate yesterday but his partner and him didn't get along. i don't want that happening with me. i guess its just getting to me bc i want a new puppy and i an so stressed and frustrated and this year has just sucked. okay enough with me.

I haven't gone back to Chapter 6, so I don't know exactly what happened, but

Kirsten has moved on from Webkinz to Club Penguin....I am not sure which is worse

My kids haven't done much on Webkinz or Club Peguin lately. We're all just sad that VMK is closing. :sad2:

Club Penguin is a massive multiplayer online game for children....she loves it...it's cute...but there is a monthly charge

Oh, we only play the free Club Penguin, so that's probably why it didn't last long here. So many things can only be done if you pay for it.

Sounds like you could use a good hug! :grouphug:

I'm sorry you are having to deal with this right now!

Tia, any pictures from your weekend? I'm glad Phil is feeling a little better.

I didn't get too many since, but here are a few...

Climbing in the woods:
Climbingtrees.jpg

Her froggy hat bought just for the trip and earning her the camp name "Froggy":
Froggyhat.jpg

Funniest part of the trip, for some reason she was hugging on one of the girls saying repeatedly "soft bacon" like it was a mantra to soothe a crying baby. The girl decided that was her new nickname so then they all decided it would be her camp name. Terra then was dubbed the camp namer and she gave about half the troop their names. Pinky, Kitten and Walla Walla were her 3 choices.

Terra's favorite activity:
Washingdishes.jpg

She loved washing dishes and ended up doing at least hers and either mine or mom's if not all 3 at the two main meals. It was apparently great fun. ;) Guess I need to get her started on the ones here at home. Maybe it'll save me a job!

Not camping, but this was Terra's creation the other night. I thought it was so funny looking.

Robyn, that picture of Lucy is ADORABLE! It looks like she liked the eggs too. My silly kids don't like scrambled eggs.

Great birthday party pictures, Tammi!

Becky, hang in there! :grouphug:

Elizabeth, I'm so sorry things are so stressful for you, too.

Cool new car, Elin!

I've never marinated pork before Jennifer, but it's worth a shot!

Tia, any pictures from your weekend? I'm glad Phil is feeling a little better.

I'll ditto!! and add I've marinated pork before and it turned out fine.

very good deal!!

Tammi - Alyssa's party looked so fun!!! I get my birthday cakes from Walmart, too! We love them, and the kids get what they want! Alyssa is looking so grown up! I just can't stand it!!!

Robyn - love the picture of Lucy! She looks so proud of herself for "eating" her egg. She is such a doll!

Amy - Your pictures are incredible, too! Such adorable children! I can't believe you got Matty to cooperate! My son is 8 and I still can't get him to be in a picture with a girl without a frown on his face!

Elin - love the new car!!! It looks so awesome!

Deb - I'm so sorry that things at work have gone all wonky! It just doesn't seem fair to do that to you! As to the towel animals, I'm sure that the boys would love them! I wouldn't know how to begin, but I'm sure you know how! You are really making some wonderful memories for your boys! I want to be you when I grow up!

It is such a gorgeous day here today! It's 75 degrees, so I took my book onto the porch swing for a while. Got so relaxed I dozed off! It's early out day at school today, so the kids will be here in a minute and my peaceful day is over! Oh well. Tomorrow is supposed to be 80 degrees, so I foresee another lovely swing in my future!
