I probably shouldn't tell you this but it seemed to take my SIL a very long time. She had chemo for a long time and then had something like 6 or 8 weeks of daily radiation. Then she chose to have reconstructive surgery-she had baloons implanted so they could stretch her skin. It was a longer but in the end easier process. This started when I was pregnant with Joe and she has been cancer free (haven't heard if she's gotten an answer about her bad mamo yet) since so that was 8 years ago. Thanks, Bernadette.
I have been reading and reading trying to figure out what will happen next. If they are going to do chemo first it looks like it goes in doses every 3 weeks. That sounds like it would definitely go longer than the school year. But I am not sure if she was mentioning the school year because of my sister or because she (my mom) works in a school cafeteria. The thing is, I don't know if she will be able to work while she has the treatments. I think that is her plan. I found a website that kind of tells you step by step, and it said after your first oncologist appt. they do additional tests and things before the first treatment. So hopefully they won't have done anything to make her feel sick yet when we get there.
Ugh....Can I say just how frustrating it is when you volunteer happily to take something on and then when you go about doing what the volunteering entails you get knocked down.I told Emma's assistant coach that I would gladly be the team mom and take on snack duty she told me great and that she would let the coach know. I sent out an email today regarding the snack list and was told that it had already been taken care of at practice last night. Eric knew nothing of it. It just infuriates me that when they ask for help and you offer it they don't want it. Same thing happens at Emma's school with the PTA. It's seems so trivial and petty. Why bother asking for the help~

UGH....poor Chris!Chris was in a similar situation tonight. He had volunteered to be assistance coach for the boys lacrosse team. The woman that is president of the club said that they already had enough coaches. He went to the organizational meeting and the head coach told him that he did need help and that he would love Chris to work with the defense. So tonight he shows up with his stick and his shorts and was told first that he needed to have a background check run then he was told that they don't need his help at all. To make things worse the parents aren't even allowed in the gym during practice. This is something that he was really looking forward to doing with the boys and they were looking forward to it too. He did say that they coaches seemed to do a good job tonight, but that he felt like an *** having showed up in shorts with a stick. He also felt like they have their own little click and he feels left out.![]()

I am glad you are reading up on it. Not all Dr know everything and sometimes pt's can bring up something for them to look into or makes them think. Thanks, Bernadette.

do you have a county commissioners office??
That's where I would start.
I know that we (the church) have to hold a gaming license for raffles....it involves one person going to a class and paying a minimal fee...hope that is all it is for you!!
We are having an issue with the "class mom" like this right now and so a few of us moms have decided to just sit back and add our help at the last minute (so we don't get shot down or told to shut up in so many words) and do our best to rimind her that is for the kids, not the glory of the person "running" the show. Can I say just how frustrating it is when you volunteer happily to take something on and then when you go about doing what the volunteering entails you get knocked down.I told Emma's assistant coach that I would gladly be the team mom and take on snack duty she told me great and that she would let the coach know. It's so funny that you chose the word "patience". That is exactly what I need. I get so impatient and frustrated with her, and I hate to be that way because that was the way my father treated her.
It is just so hard when I tell her something and she does the opposite. It is like dealing with Princess. I am worried about how she will approach this because her mindset and perception of things is very screwy. That is because she endured almost 40 years of being belittled and controlled by my father. She would much rather ignore something (anything - not just this) and let it spiral completely out of control instead of trying to solve it.
When I took her to an attorney about getting a divorce she just sat and listened, then she thanked the guy and said "I believe I'll just stay married." And she did, and things got worse and worse and worse until she finally lost her house. Eventually a guy she had done some part-time work for offered to help her. He referred her to an attorney who worked pro-bono but made such an incredible mess of things that my mom was completely destitute and had NO child support coming in. ExMomboss offered repeatedly to help her, but she wouldn't take the offer. It's almost like she is thumbing her nose at me, to see how far she can deviate from what I tell her. Then she comes back and tells me I was right.![]()
Patience.

My SIL had an ultrasound today and they don't even see a need to do a biopsy on her breast so that is great news!
