DS has survived his first band competition.

They went to lunch at Taco Bell, which just gags me but DS said he liked it.

He said the band director got a paper with the judges' comments, but the director didn't tell the kids what it said. They have another competition April 9. It sounded like everything went OK, so maybe he won't be nervous for the next one.

I'm glad he seemed to have enjoyed it.

You sure can! I didn't take any before pictures, white walls with brown trim & doors, yuck! I am happy to see that go! We plan on redoing the whole bathroom, but that will have to wait. We are remodeling the kitchen 1st. So for now the bathroom just gets some fresh paint.

Now I need to look for new rugs, decorations, & curtains.

Can we see pictures when it is done?

Thank you, everyone, for your birthday wishes for the twins! They have been excited to see their names on the computer! I have had internet/computer problems since last Wednesday, so I haven't been able to check anything until last night! I'm trying frantically to catch up!

So much for vacation! An auditor walked into work, so they've been calling and emailing me all day, and I might have to go in tomorrow.

It shouldn't be so hard to tell them when my last day is going to be, at this rate!

I ignored several of the petty emails until it got to the point that I realized I had a responsibility to what was taking place. That's what bothers me more than anything. As I've said before, I simply CANNOT detach myself when it comes down to certain issues, as I'm the administrator of the license. I've been staring at April's and May's calendars for the last 20 minutes, trying to make myself feel a little better about the situation. While 5 more work weeks doesn't sound bad at all, I keep finding myself thinking "Maybe I'll tell them April 30th, instead of May 2" (as if 2 days makes ANY difference ). It's totally all mental!


Honestly though, the timing couldn't be better. If I go in tomorrow, or even just after they leave this week and I come back on Monday (after having worked too much of my vacation (any is too much, IMO. I'm on vacation, not working from home for the week!).... then I will have a prime example of why I have to give notice. There is absolutely no cutting back on responsibility there, if taking PTO doesn't separate me for even the week. I have to be done, and they have made it quite easy!

I feel like it's not enough. Should I add anything?

I talked to Kristin this a.m. and she sounds a bit stressed. She is playing Portia in "Merchant of Venice" this semester and is having an awful time with all the lines. Her character has a LOT of lines and she has over half of them down. Part of the problem (in my opinion) is that she waited a bit late to work on them, but the rehearsal technique of the director is a little odd... she has never been the whole way through the play and they go up in 2 weeks! They are performing the entire play (probably over 2 hours + intermission) in the outdoor amphitheater at VCU. Should be a great venue for the show, so I hope she gets her lines down soon! They are working on the courtroom scene today and I don't think she knows half of her 15 or so monologues.

Anyway, I mentioned how quiet it was around here and she intimated that a drive to Richmond for the day tomorrow might be a very good stress-reliever for her. So, we may go spend time with a child on Easter anyway. I thought I would let her get through today's rehearsal and then talk to her again.

Tell Kristin congrats from me! Portia is really impressive! Wish I could see it!

Jen, you have my sympathies. If anything, hopefully this experience gives you the push you need to make the break. Call if you want to vent!
