DDA Chapter 4

We leave for Marquette next Thursday night. We fly out Friday morning at 9:30am. We are staying in a studio at OKW. I have received the shirts & earrings from Deb. The shirts are adorable. The girls are thrilled. They will be wearing them at Animal Kingdom. The smaller one is a little tight on Katrina but works. Becky hasn't tried the other one on yet but she is a little bigger boned so I think it will work out well. If not, it works on me (a little tight but I could get away with it since I'm not well endowed like the creator). Katrina will be wearing one pair of the earrings and I'll be wearing the others.

I ordered Becky's princess dress - she got an Arwen dress (from Lord of the Rings). I ordered a pirate outfit for myself and a pirate vest for Chuck. They should arrive on Tuesday. I hope they all fit.

Sounds like a tough week for you and another to come. At least you have this waiting for you at the end of the tunnel. I hope you're successful in getting ready enough so that you don't have to work (much at least) while you're gone.

Evening everyone...

Things have been a little hectic around here the past few days so I haven't had much time to myself. I've tried to keep up with you all for the sheer reason of escaping the reality of my own life. It has become abundantly clear in the last few days that I need to figure out a way to replace the income I have now from the daycare kids. Now actually making this work for my family is what boggles my mind.

It seems that we all can use a mega dose of and 's.

And I'd love to ask for some if there is any to spare. My great aunt who will be 95 next week had a stroke on Valentine's Day, sadly it was while her husband, he is 95, was giving her a bath. She is now in the nursing home and is my grandmother's roommate. She is paralyzed on one side and it doesn't look very good. My great uncle and her are such an amazing couple- married 77 years this past August. I fear that he will not fare well if she remains in the nursing home. It is so sad that they will be now be separated in what seems like her final days.

for your great aunt and uncle. I hope that they can find some peace in the situation.

More for you and finding something work-wise that fits.

We did end up getting the snow and ice we were supposed to (it looked in the middle of the night (um, which is actually still now I guess), that we weren't going to. I'm not going into work until later (hopefully my 10am meeting is canceled!) but Kyle has to leave in a few hours. I am SO nervous, because the news is literally calling it "impossible" for cars to pass on any of the roads. Can't the just close the hospital?

I hope that Kyle had a safe drive in to work and that you don't have to go (at least for awhile). Be careful out there.

Kathrin has a number of items that we lent her when she moved into her first apartment. She has no need for many of them now and is trying to pare down what she moves to Boston. Bob and I were supposed to pick up a cargo van at Enterprise this morning so that we could go to Richmond on Sunday morning and bring those things home. I sure hope that it warms up a bit today or that is not going to happen, I fear!

Good morning, DDA!

Well, it looks like we may have avoided the 2nd wave of the storm. The had changed it to more snow than ice today and it's still not doing much of that. At least the roads are pretty clear finally. The kids are still off of school so that's good. With clear roads, I think I'll still see about picking up Danae for the girls to play. I know that they were both really looking forward to it and she really needs a break.

Picking up the van is what concerns me not the driving on Sunday. Our weather is supposed to improve tomorrow, but I will be in Northern Virginia all day long judging the music Festival we have been preparing for. I can't pick up the van tomorrow, it has to be today. So... let's hope for a small window of temps above freezing!

Kyle got in safely, thanks! It took him quite a while, but he's there. He's on-call today too, so he won't have to drive back home until after 9pm, and everything will be clear then. My meeting is still on, but it's nothing stressful, and it's the only thing important I have going on today. I think I'm going to go in soon (taking back roads, since everything else is closed all over!), but it should be a somewhat relaxing work day if I get to stay in the empty building instead of going into my office!

Our weather is supposed to improve tomorrow, but I will be in Northern Virginia all day long judging the music Festival we have been preparing for. I can't pick up the van tomorrow, it has to be today. So... let's hope for a small window of temps above freezing!

It's A Snow Day!!

So I am off from work today. All offices are closed due to the weather. It was snowing already last night when I got home from work at 11:30pm. It is still snowing on top of the snow we are supposed to get freezing rain and sleet. So this puts a break to my many, many days working with no day off. I do have events on Saturday and Sunday to go to, at least I get a day off in there. Well Saturday's may or may not happen depending if the church clears the lots and sidewalks.

I want no one falling on the ice and splitting their head open like last weekend.


I think I am heading back to bed for a nap.
