DDA Chapter 4

My sister & brother both have thick hair. I think being the middle child I got everything they didn't(more weight, thin hair, ect. :rotfl: ).

Ah, Janet. I thought you (and your hair) looked great in October!

WE GOT A MICKEY MONITOR YESTERDAY! And it was NOT hand addressed. We MUST be in their system FINALLY! :yay: :yay: :yay:

Will wonders never cease?!?! You must have broken the code. How many years did it take? ;)

We are currently sitting at -7 degrees. We are supposed to reach a balmy 18 degrees this afternoon. The snow is predicted to start at 7 PM and snow heavily through the night before switching over to wintery mix. It only looks like a total of 4 - 7 inches now though. Better than the foot plus that they had predicted  I'm sure that there will be no school again tomorrow. Perfect, they will cancel school, cancel Colby's speech assessment for the third Wednesday in a row and then cancel snowboarding too. I'm beginning to hate Wednesdays just for the weather.

My hair is very fine and straight, but I have a lot of it. The only way that I can easily manage it is to have a perm (which I am in need of). It doesn't matter if it is short or long I need the perm. I find that when it is longer it seems to fall out in large quantities. I don't notice it on my head, but when I wash my hair the amount of hair that falls out is :scared1: I suppose that it is normal and probably does short too, but at least I don't notice it as much. Nothing is more annoying to me than taking a shower and having long hair run down my back into my butt crack :rotfl: :confused3 Sorry TMI

I'm sorry to hear it's another wacky weather Wednesday upcoming for you guys, Deb. Stay warm! :wizard:

I have very fine, straight hair, too - but a TON of it. It takes forever to dry it. I haven't had a lot of problems with it falling out yet. Your shower comment almost had me spitting out my soda! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm home from work again today. I need to find some sort of walk in clinic or something as I don't have a primary care dr. I go to my gyn every year but haven't found a primary I like. Something is leaking out of my right ear so I think its time to get proffessional help.:scared:

Get thee to a doctor, Bernadette!!!! :wizard: :wizard:

Yes Bernadett, time to go to the doctors. Good luck, hope its nothing serious with your ear. :wizard:

Good morning all...

You all have been very chatty! It was a lot of fun catching up. Loved all the pictures that were posted. I am sorry that I did not respond to each of you so here's some :wizard: and 's for all. Share nicely!

I still can't say that I feel normal again. Yesterday I ran a 102 fever all day. Eric came home and stayed with the girls. I don't feel sick so I don't know what is wrong. The chills that I have are driving me crazy. All I did yesterday was hide under covers. I did manage to fold and put away some of our laundry. Now I just need to hang up the closet stuff, at least it isn't such a daunting task any longer. I woke up this morning with a temperature of 99 this morning so I guess I am getting back to normal again.

Not much on the agenda today. Emma is off from school for election day, so at some point I have to vote. I also think Emma and Molly and I will be making valentine's for their teachers and classmates. But that's it!! I like slow days like these.

yikes!!!:scared1: Get the to a dr soon!!!

One of our Walmarts has a walk in clinic now....have you seen it?? It's hospital affiliated so it's not just quacks.

Thanks Lindsay :goodvibes I guess we are just never satisfied with the way we look :rolleyes1 You & your hair looked great! I would love to be able to walk around in the humidity & not look like a frizz ball :rotfl:

Ah, Janet. I thought you (and your hair) looked great in October!

Bernadette you do need to see a Dr! :cool1: on Joe losing a tooth.

Robyn hope you feel better as the day goes on :wizard:

i do believe its RCI--that sounds familiar haha

I believe we are going to be renting a car...im glad to hear you stayed at and liked one of the choices--now i just have to wait to see if my cousin can definitely go..if not, i may be making a solo trip :scared1:

The one we stayed at most recently is located just behind the Gaylord and across from Celebration. It was called Vacation Village at Parkway. I really liked this one too and it was very convenient to the parks.

Let me ask a question.....

What would you think of a mother that buys her 5 yr old DD a cellphone (Firefly)?

Bob's ex bought one for Bethany. First, she and Bob can't talk civilly (she always flies off the handle) so she has told him not to call her, that if he needs to discuss something he has to email or text her. Hello? How can you communicate that way? They have shared custody of Bethany. Mom has her Sun. night through Thurs morning, and he gets her after work on Thurs until Sun night. Do you think the two adults might need to talk every once in awhile???? Second, ex is so annoyed with Bob that she doesn't want to have to go through him to talk to Bethany (when she is with her dad) so she bought her a cell phone. I can't believe it. You know, I thought dating a divorcee would be easier, because they've 'been there, done that', but there is an AWFUL lot of baggage that goes with it. I don't know if I have the energy to put up with it.

Still don't think that I would myself, but I have read several occassions lately where parents have Fireflys for their 4-7yos. In every instance as well, there were divorced parents involved. They used them solely for the kids to talk to the other parent. On one occassion, I seem to remember it having been recommended by the judge. That said, I'm with you in that, even if divorced, the parents should be able to at least minimally commuicate with each other for the sake of the kids.

Too much is lost in translation when typing things. Just focus on all of the good things that come from the relationship and know that almost anyone would have at least some baggage. :wizard: :grouphug:

Luckily she lost it literally as she went to bed, so we explained the tooth fairy was already out seeing children, and that's why she forgot... and, yes, the TF made up for it! ;)

My sister and niece forgot to put out her tooth a week or so ago (only her 2nd lost tooth). Two days later Kassie reminded Kristi that they needed to put it out. Kristi told her that the TF had stopped by that day and reminded her that they were forgetting to leave out the tooth so just gave Kristi the money for Kassie. Apparently it worked!

Oh yeah, and when she lost her first one last month, Kristi asked Kassie what the TF left. Kassie says, "A dollar and a note that you wrote." Apparently, she knows the hand writing. Kristi just told her that the TF's hands were full with her bags of money and teeth so the TF woke Kristi up and dictated the note to her. :rotfl:

I told you all about the wonderful package my mom sent us last week. :goodvibes

Today, Alyssa and Matthew received another one, except this time she included a box of cake mix, 2 tubes of frosting, cupcake cups, and some heart sprinkles with a note that said, "Maybe Mommy will make you some cupcakes for Valentine's Day!"

I have so much time and energy to do that...especially since we're leaving Friday to visit her for the three-day weekend! :rotfl:

So, you are going to visit her immediately after Valentine's and you are the one who is supposed to make the cupcakes. That is just too funny!! :lmao: :rotfl2:

If I were to stay off site again, it would be here, I loved this place. Huge, airy, just beautiful luxury accomadations. VERY close to the MK. Truly 5 minutes away. Had a wow factor to it.
We had a pool view 2bedroom on the top floor. Loved the jacuzzi at night after a day at the parks. Large screen tv in the living room. Just a nice resort.:dance3:

Bernadette - I hope you found a clinic!

I got this from a friend today and I immediately thought of you all... if someone else has posted it already, I think it bears repeating!

A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her Mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance
Upon her daughter.

'Don't forget your Sisters,' she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. 'They'll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going yo need Sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them.'

'Remember that 'Sisters' means ALL the women... your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your other women relatives too. 'You'll need other women. Women always do.'

What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman thought. Haven't I just gotten married? Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!'

But she listened to her Mother. She kept contact with her Sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her Mom really knew what she was talking about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, sisters are the mainstays of her life.

After more than 48 years of living in this world, here is what I've learned:

THIS SAYS IT ALL:

Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.
Jobs come and go.
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don't do what they're supposed to do.
Hearts break.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favours.
Careers end.
BUT.........

Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you. A girl friend is never farther away than needing her can reach.

When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's' end. Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you...Or come in and carry you out.

Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, mothers, grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family, all bless our life! The world wouldn't be the same without women, and neither would I. When we began this adventure called Womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other. Every day, we need each other still. Pass this on to all the women who help make your life meaningful. I just did.
