Day Two, January 19th
Animal Kingdom
I think Eric and I were awakened by the alarm at 6am. This was one of our biggest problems- Eric’s mentality is it’s vacation so there should be no alarm clock waking us up. I showered and got ready. Eric showered and headed to the food court for coffee. He also brought back bagels for him and I. The girl’s had cereal.
We were out of the room by 8:20am and made were at the park quickly. We could tell that it was going to be crowded. All week long we followed these huge Brazillian tour groups. I had to make a quick stop at one of the carts to pick up an autograph book. I left our big binder in the room. Asia was going to be our first stop- Emma had convinced herself and us that she wanted to ride Everest. She is a daredevil sometimes and then other times a big chicken. We grabbed FP’s (this was one of the problems we found with the tour groups, at each machine was one person getting multiple FP’s, not 5 or 10 but more like 100) and then Emma and I hopped in the standby line which moved quickly. As we were in the queue Emma was fascinated by all the Yeti stuff. After we returned home she must have checked out about 10 books on Mt Everest. In my old age I am not quite as thrill seeking as I used to be, I loved the ride but was scared the entire time! Emma liked it even though she screamed and covered her eyes for most of the ride. But once was enough for her.
We never made it back over there so at least Eric has something to look forward too. We left Asia and headed for Africa for our breakfast at Tusker House. Our ADR was for 10:25am and we were a little early but didn’t have time to do anything before breakfast. We checked in and had a short wait before we were called in. The restaurant was busy but not really crowded. Breakfast was very good. Eric, Molly and I loved the juice they served. The only thing I did not like was the beef bobtie quiche, the spices did not agree with me at all. The character interaction was really great here. Having Lucy is a big bonus because the characters keep getting drawn back to her.
The girls loved dancing during the celebration. Eric was at the buffet when it started so the waitress offered to hold Lucy so I could take pictures. She didn’t want to give her back!
After breakfast we did the safari, the girl's loved this. Emma just asked me the other day about the poachers and the baby elephant. I guess she still believes in the magic and doesn’t yet get that it’s just a story. These guys were right on the road, we had to stop for a bit until they moved.
Do you think Lucy liked the bumpy ride?
After the safari we explored the Pangani Forest Trail. Emma and Molly were fascinated by the silverback gorilla. They would have stayed and watched forever.
We also saw Baloo and King Louie but can't remember when exactly!
On to ITTBAB, the last time we did this Emma was crying by the end. She loved it this time, I guess knowing what to expect makes it all a lot easier to take.
We stopped and had our pictures taken in front of the Tree of Life.
Emma’s mission today was to ride Primeval Whirl. She was too short when we came in ’05 and was extremely upset that her cousin could ride it. While Eric and Emma did PW Molly, Lucy and I did Triceratop Spin. It was pretty hot today so after we met back up the girls wanted Mickey bars so we took a short break. We had gotten FP’s for Dinosaur so after the ice cream break Eric and Emma headed over there. Molly and I were going to go after they did but Eric was sure that Molly would not like it so we choose to skip it. Emma hated it; you couldn’t see her in the ride picture she was buried into Eric.
Our next was Camp Minnie Mickey. On our way over there we stopped and saw Lilo and Stitch.
And we also came across Terk. She was sort of just there with no one around her.
When we got to Camp MM we were too late for Pocahontas so we got in line for Minnie.
After we got her autograph we lined up for FOTLK. Lucy was hungry so Eric found a spot to feed her. We had quite a wait so he did manage to get into the theater and find us. We all love this show, especially the tumble monkeys.
Pocahontas and her Forest Friends started in a bit so we headed over there. Emma sat right up front but Molly refused to leave Eric and I. The girls enjoyed the show.
As we left the theater the skies were black so we decided that it would be a good time to leave. Apparently there was a tornado watch in effect. There are a few things that we didn’t get to do like the Maharajah jungle trek, the parade and seeing Devine.
We drove to hotel and as we approached our room we were greeted by this…
When we got back to room we thought we’d hit DTD for dinner and some shopping. Did I mention that by this time it was coming down in buckets outside? Maybe we’ll just go to the food court and grab dinner there. Walked over and it was packed, no table to be found. Now we are all hungry and the girls really want to go shopping. So off to DTD we go. We drive down there in the pouring rain and could not find a parking spot anywhere. Seems everyone else had the same idea! So back to PC we went. No one was very happy at this point! Finally we decide that Eric should go to the food court and get a pizza to eat in the room.
While he was getting dinner the girls and I get things ready for tomorrow
