Hi, everyone. I haven't been around much, as the last week has been crazy!
DH's nephew graduated from college last Friday. That meant that his mom (Alan' sister) and her husband came up from Texas to see him walk. I haven't seen Penny for 13 years, so it was great to see her again. We went out to dinner on Thursday night, lunch on Friday afternoon, girls night out on Friday night, Texas style BBQ Saturday night, and a farewell party on Sunday afternoon. It was a lot of family activities crammed into a few days, but it was so fun to see them again! This was the first time Penny has seen any of our kids, so it was nice to get them all acquainted.
All that family time was time away from my studies, so I've been burying my head in the books for the last couple of days. Now, however, I have to start getting ready for a whirlwind trip to Vancouver/Seattle with Alan. He has to cover a story for the station, and since our anniversary is coming up, he offered to take me, and spend a couple of extra days in Seattle to celebrate our anniversary (our actual anniversary is May 26, but that's when we'll be knee deep in getting ready for our family California trip). I'm excited about going. We leave at 4:00 tomorrow morning, and come home late Tuesday night.
Tia - My dad had prostate cancer years ago and had it removed. Everything was fine until a few months ago, when they found that there were traces of the cancer in the area where the prostate used to be. Now, every 4 months, dad has a shot that contains it in the one area, and it doesn't spread. So far, so good, but the shot does alter his personality for a couple of day afterward.
Jennifer - I'm keeping your dad in my prayers. I hope that he feels well soon.
Kristine - Bill is in my prayers, as well. Kidney stones are no fun, and stones large enough to block the tubes are horrible!
Debbie - I hope your shoulder issues resolve soon, and that you feel ok with the decisions you are making.
Deb - Sorry about having to work on Mother's Day. Alan doesn't let me lift a finger on Mother's Day, so I know that the day after, I'll have a horrible house to clean, but at least for one day I get to stay in bed all day, and do nothing!
Tammi - Good luck to your dad's job application. How cool would that be?
Elin - I can't wait to hear about your trip! I'm glad you had a good time.
Alan and I have decided to do the WDW half marathon again! Actually, Alan wants to do the full, and I'm going to do the half. Alan talked for a while about doing both, but I told him that was really nuts! He's not in that great shape, yet!
Have a good day, and a wonderful rest of the week/weekend! See y'all on Wednesday.
