DDA Chapter 24

Beth - What about a gift card to Matthew's favorite place to shop for clothes and another one for a place the two of you can go for lunch while you are out shopping for those clothes? They could be wrapped and put under the tree!

That's a good idea! I don't really know where he wants to look for the clothes, but I could make a certificate up. Lunch is a terrific idea, too!

Tammi and Kristine - I hope you can find some things that will make the kids happy on Christmas morn!

I am delighted that the four of us have decided once again to skip presents this year. The trip is our big gift and the girls will buy us dinner one night while we are there. So it all is perfect.

I do understand that Santa cannot leave that kind of gift under your kiddies' trees! So... Good luck to all of you! :)

A few more years, and I think this is what I'll suggest!

Poor Elizabeth seems flustered....she sat on the plane for quite some time last night...then she sat on ME for quite some time. And to top things off, they lost her checked bag....so they don't have proper shoes for the massive rain that looks like is going on there. :sad2:

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:

I just checked in for my flight tomorrow morning! :yay:

Uh, oh... that is NOT good. :sad2:

Have a fabulous trip Elin!

Thanks, Kristine!! :goodvibes

24 hours from now I will be well on my way! Unless... you are not going to believe this...

It was 68 here yesterday and for tomorrow the weather forecast calls for our first "measurable" snow! I am hoping to be up and over those storm clouds before anything frozen begins to fall. I may leave here earlier than I had planned just to beat the weather. I will update as I know what the heck is expected.

But now, more than even before, I am delighted to be going to WDW. The only snow I want to see for a while is what Disney will show me on Main Street during MVMCP and at the Osborne Lights! :teeth:

I discovered a benefit from my smaller size (not as small as it was a year ago, but still considerably smaller than two years ago): I can pack 2 pairs of jeans, 4 shirts, PJs, two pairs of shoes and my TSA-approved liquids bag in a very small carry-on now! :yay:

I HAVE to do some Christmas shopping today. Other than the Ipods and a few video games, I have NO IDEA what to get my kids for Christmas. Nicholas is especially difficult.

Tammi, I layed out all the presents & did my wrapping & after all I spent it looks like nothing! Wii games, DS games, & books do not take up alot of space.
So I bought snuggies for all 3. Its a big box & I know my kids curl up with the blanket on the couch so I thought it was a good idea...maybe your kids would like them?

Chanon,
Hi! Love happy babies!

Kristine,
Oh no! That is not how Elizabeth wanted to start her trip.

Elin,
Have fun!!!!

Beth,
Originally we were staying at a Marriott on our points but the Comfort Inn just outside the entrance to DTD was offering $29 a night so booked that. We have no plan to use the room other than sleep since its a short trip so all I just want is for it to be clean.

Books were big on my kids lists this year..Katie wanted books on makeup, fashion design, & the Clique series....Daniel wanted anything Yu Gi Oh & Gordon Korman books, Sophie asked for the Rainbow fairies series so I got her a few of them.

I have some filler stuff, like lip gloss for the girls, this big crazy pens I saw at Walmart, toothbrushes, colorful socks, & bath gel for all.

oh no poor Elizabeth

Becky,
She's in 8th grade Spanish. She went to the lunch tutoring session & said that it really helped because her nutty teacher was not there. The other tutors were able to explain things to her better & she felt like she understood. Yes its an elective but we are also concerned regarding the college requirements..not to mention it looks good on a resume when you can speak any other language. Yesterday was very hopeful so we will see where she goes from here...

I'm glad the tutoring session helped! I hope she is on the way to improving the grade now.

Good Morning! I'm sitting here with an extremely happy baby and thought I'd post and say hi since it's been a while. :wave2:

 Chanon! Hope you're doing well.

Oh no! That's not a good sign. Hope everything shows up quickly!

Thanks, Kristine!! :goodvibes

Good morning, DDA!

Just catching up everything here before running off for the day. I've got to work from 5:30-11 (which is closing, which means surely 11:30 or so at least). Before that, I've got to pick up my paycheck, grocery shop, pick up Phil, pick up Mom, (hopefully) pick up Mom's car, get the Christmas boxes put away, clean up the kitchen, and (I REALLY HOPE) take a nap. (Yes, Becky, I know that's not taking it easy very much, but I'm back to almost 100% right now at least.)

Mom got good news yesterday! She had cancelled an old (uneeded) insurance policy and knew there was at least some money coming from it. The check was 3x what she expected! It is paying for the tie end rods Dads van had to have yesterday, paying to fix the radiator in her car (we don't have to share anymore!), paying for Christmas and easing the pressure on a few bills. It made her day yesterday, and her Christmas season, so much less stressful!

With our weather (we may reach freezing tomorrow:thumbsup2) I think Abi is the only smart one....she asked for a Snugglie for Christmas....it's her big present. :rotfl:

I need to figure out something for Josh for his "big" present. As you can see, it can't be a big ticket but I would like it to be a want not a need. He has the same things as the girls....a pair of socks, an ornament, coloring book, big box of crayons (the girls are getting a pen), lip balm and a hoodie (the girls usually get an article under the tree....we are part of the Salvation Army Angel Tree for this). He is getting a deck of cards instead of a second game book in his stocking.

The girls are getting vera bradley backpacks (the awesome deals I got over the summer), journals, Abi is getting the snugglie and Cassidy the DDR for Playstation2 (great Black Friday deal). So what to get an 18 year old that has never had anything but needs or clothes under the tree? He plays the euphonium (like Abi) and his brother gave him a new one for Christmas (I think that was his first ever non need item ever....but it really is a need since that is what he is doing in college (espescially this first year at Metro...he was wonderful in his solo at the concert we went to on Tuesday:love:)). He loves playing computer games and the PS3.....I will probably just head to Best Buy and get him one of the $5 games but that just doesn't seem like enough.

I am going to make a plate of goodies to take home to share with his sisters. I believe I saw jealousy in one sister's eyes on Tuesday when she realized we weren't going anywhere and were sticking around no matter if Josh and Cassidy never get back together. Cassidy and I had a long talk about it on the way home....I think I finally got her to see the meanness vibe she was getting from the sister was the same one she gives off when it comes to her sister with a little jealousy and regret (she had to leave Josh in their adopted family's house when she left) mixed in. I just can't imagine:sad1::upsidedow

:cheer2:for the extra money. Good luck with the new schedule.

WONDERFUL!!!:thumbsup2

I went to redeem my points that I knew would be available today for another $10 GC to On the Border/Maggiano's (I "bought" one on Tuesday) and they were all out.......bugger!! I am not sure what to do now about Christmas Eve dinner out. :confused3

I have a strange question...

I am in the process of getting Christmas gifts for my preschoolers (3-4 year olds). We always buy a book from the Scholastic book club points that we have for each child. I usually stick something else in, too. This year I have a class of 14. This part of the gift will be out of my own pocket, so I can't spend a lot per child. I was just out sewing Christmas pillowcases for Miles and Laura and remembered that MIL recently gave me a stash of children's print fabric. So, would a pillowcase be cute or weird?

Please be honest. I'd rather my friends tell me it's a bad idea than hear whispers from the preschool moms. ;)
